Food was running low again so Vlad took his team to the hospital since it was still stocked up. He took Nathan, Angelina, and Alice with him while the others stayed behind to watch the kids and the hideout. Not wanting to waste the ammo or make any noise to attack attention Vlad had everyone to carry blades, axes or anything sharp or blunt. It became one of his many rules that was helping them stay alive. Some of them had a problem with it but they saw the logic to it.
Since Vlade was able to take down the walkers the first few times they took down the chain from the door and walked in. There were still a few walkers here and there but the four of them were able to kill them with no worries. They rated the kitchen pantry and then they went over to the pharmacy for more medical stuff and other supplies. Alice and Angelina were looking around keeping watch. There was nothing so far until they heard a noise coming from one of the rooms. Alice gripped her bat tightly as she and Angelina walked quietly to the door. They had their weapons at the ready when Angelina had her hand on the door and a gruff voice was calling for a nurse. Angelina opened the door and the two women saw a man in his mid-thirties dressed in a hospital gown, on the floor and reaching out for them.
"Vlad! Nathan!" Alice called out.
Vlad was the first one to reach them and saw the man on the ground. Angelina had her ax at the ready, just in case, as she got closer.
"Water. Please. I need water." The man pleaded
Alice got a bottle of water out of her bag and would've given it to him but Vlad stopped her. She mentally rolled her eyes at this. Lately he has been too protective with her, especially when other men are around. Two days Jesse was playfully flirting with her and Vlad nearly got him killed. When she and Nathan were able to stop him the new couple had a heat argument about it. It didn't last long as they ended up having hot make-up sex. They both may have hot tempers but they always manage to make-up, sometimes with sex as well.
So to not start another argument with him she handed him the bottle. He walked over to the man and looked at Angelina, who nodded that he was unarmed. Vlad opened the bottle and gave it to the man. The man took a big gulp of the bottle before he stopped to breathe a little and drank the rest.
"Thank you." The man said
"Who are you? How did you get here?" Vlad asked
"I'm...I'm Rick...Rick Grime. I was shot from a car chase that...me and my men tried to stop." Rick said "What happened here? Where are the staff? Where's everyone?"
"I remember that. It was all over the news a week before the outbreak happened." Alice said
"Outbreak?" Rick asked
"He's been here for over three months with no electricity for the machines." Angelina said as she looked at the equipment in the room. "How did he survive?"
"Is he a…?" Nathan asked, giving Vlad a look that said 'Is he a vampire?'
Vlad stood up and shook his head no.
"No. A gunshot wound would healed a long time ago." He whispered before saying. "Go see if you can find any clothes for him."
Nathan nodded and left with Angelina behind him. Vlad helped up Rick to his feet and walked him towards the window.
"You picked a very bad time to wake up from a coma, pal." Vlad said "Welcome to the Zombie Apocalypse."
Rick looked out the window and saw how everything was run down and in ruins.
"How...how…" Rick said
"No one really knows. The infection just started in a few areas and then three weeks later after that they started to overrun us." Vlad said
"Their numbers grow every second when you're either bitten or scratched by them." Alice said
"I need to go to my house and find my family. I need to know if they're okay." Rick said
"Sorry to say this but they may not be there. We haven't seen another living person in town for weeks. Tomorrow you can go and find them but right now you're in no condition to go off by yourself." Vlad said
"We found some scrubs that look like they could be your size." Nathan said as he and Angelina came back.
He handed it to Rick and they left the room to give him some privacy. It didn't take him long to get dressed and once he was done they all headed out. When they reached outside Rick was in horror when he saw the dead bodies that were covered in white sheets.
"Don't worry, it's not this kind of dead that you have to worry about." Angelina said
She knew what he was thinking since she was behind him with her gun at the ready.
They reached the parking lot and got in a blue Toyota truck that they came in. Nathan drove with Angelina in the passenger side while Vlad, Alice and Rick sat in the back. Vlad stood up on the truck keeping a lookout for anything alive or dead. After a few miles he banged on top of the truck when he spotted something. When the truck stopped Vlad got off first and told only Rick and Nathan to come with him while the women waited and keep watch. They followed Vlad to the park and after a few steps a walker that was torn in half woke up and tried to crawl over towards them.
"Good eye." Nathan said
Rick said nothing as he jumped a little when the corpse started to move and looked at it with wide eyes, fear and sadness. Vlad looked at him and was glad that he brought him here. At least the man will know what they're dealing with.
"No matter if you shoot them in the major arteries or slice them in half they keep on coming." Vlad said
He took out his sword and stabbed it in the head when it got close to Rick.
"You have to kill the brain. It's the only way for them to stay dead." Vlad said as he whipped the blood off with a rag. "If you ever see these things, it's best that you kill them right away. Shooting them in the head will work too but I recommend you not to always use it. They're attracted by sound, smell and sight. When you start shooting, you'll attract more." Then they headed back towards the truck. "They are slow but their advantages are by numbers. Kill them if there's one or two of them scattered around but if they're in a hoard you run like hell, no matter what. Try not to get cornered because if you do then you might as well kill yourself before they get you." Vlad looked at his watch and saw that it was two o'clock already. "Alright everyone, we got an hour before we head back to the house so let's scavenge what we can. Angelina and Nathan head for the cars that are unmarked and see if there's any gas left or has any parts that Jesse asked for. Alice, Coma Man and I will check the unmarked house for anything. Everyone turn their walkie's on."
Nathan and Angeline nodded as they turned their walkies on and headed over to the cars that weren't marked with an X scratched on them. Vlad and Alice turned theirs on and went to one of the houses with Rick right behind them. When they reached the house Vlad went by the window and knocked on it hard.
"Babe, wouldn't it have been better that I check the cars. I was a mechanic after all." Alice said
"True, but I need you with me to keep an eye on him." Vlad said, gesturing to Rick. "No offense, but just because you woke up from a coma doesn't mean I can trust you right away."
"No I...I understand." Rick said
Just then, two walkers banged against the window from the inside trying to get to them. This startled Rick, of course, but Vlad and Alice just smirked as they ready their weapons.
"You might want to step back a bit." Alice said to Rick.
Vlad opened the door and one walker shot through. Alice swinged her bat against the walkers head. She hit it again, making sure the brain is squished. The second one came stumbled out afterwards and Vlad sliced off its head with his sword before stabbing the head.
"Ladies first." He said
"Always the gentleman." She smirked "Or is it just so you can look at my ass?"
"A bit of both." He smirked before looking at her ass. "It is a great view from here."
Rick felt a bit awkward being around the two when they did that. It reminded him how Shane flirted with women when they were out or on lunch. He could already tell by the way they acted towards each other that they were in a relationship. Vlad then gestured for Rick to follow after Alice and then he walked in after closing the door.
"This used to belong to a newlywed couple." Rick said as he looked around.
"How do you know that?" Alice asked
"I was the sheriff of this town." He said "It was my job to know everybody here."
"Well officer friendly, looks like this will be your first time luting your own town." Alice chuckled
Vlad chuckled too as they checked the kitchen first.
"Officer friendly." Rick raised a brow.
"Well I thought it would be nicer than calling you Deputy Do Right." She smiled with a shrug. "Sorry, I tend to act sarcastically around cops. When you get arrested a lot from them it's bound to happen."
"And here I thought you were an angel." Vlad teased
"Shut the fuck up, you knew my older brother. You had to know that he would rub off on me." She smirked
"That I can agree with." Vlad smirked as he looked through one of the cabinets and then looked back at Rick. "Well don't just stand there, help us out. You want to eat, you have to earn it. Everybody has a job to do and your payment is food."
Rick nodded and walked over to one of the cabinets. To his luck he found a few stuff in it.
"I guess this place was one of the first to get taken down. The cabinet is still half full." Rick said as he took the stuff out.
There were six cans of cream corn, three cans of string beans, four cans of tuna, seven cans of peaches, two big ravioli cans, some noodles and about a dozen of tomato sauces.
"That's good news for the group then. Try to put everything in the bag." Vlad said "Love, check upstairs and see if there's another bag or anything we could use."
"On it." She said
"Be careful." He said
"Always, babe." She called when she was out of the kitchen.
About five minutes had passed and the two men were done luting the kitchen so they went to check on Alice. Vlad called out her name and she came out of the bathroom with a battery razer in her hand.
"What's this for?" Vlad asked
"You're starting to grow a beard. If you ever want to kiss me again you're gonna have to shave." She said as she handed it to him.
"What's wrong with beards?" He asked
"I find them unattractive." She said "A goatee is fine, but no beards, understand."
"What if I want to keep it?" He asked
"Do you really want to see who can last the longest without sex?" She smirked
That seemed to get his attention and took the razer quickly from her hand. Alice smiled in victory and pecked him on the cheek before heading to one of the rooms. Vlad glared over at Rick when he saw the man trying to laugh.
"Not one word of this, you hear me." He glared
"No I've...I've been there myself." Rick chuckled "My wife hates beards too and she always threatens me the same way."
They went in the room that Alice was in and it looked like something that her son would have loved. The room looked like a man cave with a large flat screen T.V, a game Recliner chair, Playstation box, with a foosball table, a bar, action figures and on one wall had a lot of comic books.
"A newly wed couple you say." Alice said as she looked at the wall of comic books. "I never understood these people. Why spend the money on things that you won't read or play with."
"Well it depends on how valuable it is." Rick said as he picked up one comic book. "My son is into these kinds of stuff."
"Which hero?" She asked
"Almost all of them." He said
That made her smile.
"My son loves them too. His favorites are the X-Men, the Marvel Avengers, and the Justice League. But Batman...Batman rules them all in his eyes." She said
Rick smiled before handing her a few comic books that were batman.
"I don't think this man will mind. Besides, I heard that one is a great read." He said
After thanking him she started taking a few more that the kids could read. While this was going on Vlad opened the closet door and saw a case on the floor. He opened it up and saw that there was a combat bow in it with all the equipment for it. Remembering that Alice had mentioned that she was an archer herself and thought that it was a perfect gift for her.
"Love, happy one week anniversary." He smiled as he held up the case and opened it up.
"Oh my god." She gasped with a smile.
"Just what you always wanted." He said and kissed her.
"This is beautiful...but wait...why would this guy have a combat bow case?" She asked
"Let's see...ah…." He said as he looked at the front case that had writing on it. "It says that it was the same bow that some guy named Legolas had used in The Lord of the Rings movie."
"Yeah...that would explain it. Man...this guy must have been loaded or something." She said "I would have killed him if this thing cost more than this house and their car." She took the case and kissed him. "Thank you babe."
An hour had passed so they returned back to the others and everybody was able to find some things that they needed. Then they headed to their hideout and it turns out that it was Rick's neighborhood. When they stopped the car Rick ran to his house and fell to pieces when he saw that no one was there just like Vlad had said. The group gave him some time to let this sink in and went to take the stuff that they found inside the kitchen, while Vlad and Alice went to the master room with their stuff.
"Do you think he'll be okay?" Alice asked
She started unpacking the stuff she got.
"He just needs to soak things in. He did just wake up in this hellhole and found out that his family is gone. I think we all would have done the same." Vlad said as he was sharpening his blades.
Then she saw her take out something that made him stop what he was doing and almost drop his blade.
"What is that?" He asked
She smirked and lifted up a black sexy lingerie with red ribbons on it and some kind of mask.
"Your gift for tonight. Found it under the bed and the box looked like it hadn't been open at all. I guess the guy had some kinky fantasy because this mask is from that Halle Berry movie Catwoman. And it came with a few other things." She smirked
She took out some fuzzy handcuffs, two long length gloves with claws and a leather whip.
"I think they both were into kinky stuff. And I'm kind of interested in it myself." She said with a seductive look.
"I'll start shaving." He said as he quickly got up and grabbed her ass. "But I must ask...who wears the cuffs first my little kitten."
