That night Gabriella laid in bed wide awake, she felt Jasmine asleep next to her but she knew Imogen wasn't, her breathing too uneven to be asleep. Gabriella slowly sat up so she wouldn't wake the oldest twin and turned her attention to her youngest sister, speaking quietly so she wouldn't wake the others. "What are you still doing awake Imi?"

She pulled the little girl into her lap and the girl shrugged, she bit her lip. "Ella, why doesn't Mom love us?" Her timid voice almost broke Gabriella's heart and she tightened her arms around her sister.

"I wish I had the answers for you Baby Girl but unfortunately I don't know. But I'm sure deep down that your mommy loves you very much."

She felt Imogen shake her head against her chest. "She's not my mommy, mommies are nice and they love you, she's just mean. You're more of a mommy than she is."

Gabriella wasn't sure how to respond. She wasn't completely shocked by this revelation but she knew she couldn't have her sister thinking like that. "You're right Imi, mommies are supposed to be all those things, but I'm not like your mommy Im, I'm just your big sister."

"I wish Mom was like you."

"Me too Baby, I know it must upset you when you hear about all the other kids from kindy and that our life is so different from theirs, I wish she was different and treated you guys better but I don't see that happening Im. Just remember that Chad, Locky, Jassy and I love you very much."

"I love you too Ella."

Gabriella started stroking her sister's hair. "Did you have fun today Baby Girl? Did you like playing at Troy's house."

"It was fun... Chad and Locky like Troy, they had fun playing basketball."

"Yeah they do like Troy and playing basketball with him."

"Jassy likes Troy too."

"Does she?"

"Yeah she says that Troy's nice and she likes his cuddles... Do you like Troy?"

A blush stained Gabriella's cheeks. "Can I tell you a secret Im? You can't tell anyone." She felt the little girl nod. "I like Troy very much, he's a very nice boy."

"Is he your friend?"

"Yeah Baby, Troy's my friend just like he's Chad's friend. Do you like Troy?"

"I think so."

"No pressure Baby Girl, you can be around whoever you want to be. But it's getting late Im, you need to get some sleep." She placed her back down on the mattress, laying her down and stroking her head for the girl to fall asleep.

This left Gabriella with some time to think and her thoughts circled back to her best friend. The blue eyed basketball captain had barely left her mind since she came to East High. There was just something different about him. He was nice and she adored the way he got along with her siblings.

He was, as every girl at East High liked to point out, very attractive. His piercing blue eyes, shaggy hair and toned body made him gorgeous to every girl at school. He was a talented basketball player from what she'd seen in practice and he was smart in the classes they had together.

She thought about the way she felt around him. Excluding her siblings, he was the person she felt most comfortable around. He was her best friend. But she couldn't ignore the butterflies in her stomach whenever she was in his presence and the shy smile that made its way onto her lips every time she thought of the popular basketball captain. He was always very sweet to her and she was convinced that their conversations were occasionally borderline flirting. She loved being around him and she loved all his characteristics.

She sighed as she couldn't deny the thought any longer. She was falling for Troy Bolton.

(A.N. Here's another chapter, I didn't have too long to write with assignments and all but here's a quick chapter. Let me know what you think of the story so far :) )
