A/N: So tonight is the return of One Chicago and I thought it fitting to post some Burzek content for the occasion. It's just a little one shot until I can get out of the slight funk and write for my other stories. The end is a reference of episode 3x02 because it was a sweet moment between the two. Enjoy tonight's premieres.

The weight was unfamiliar and new, but Kim couldn't get enough of it. Adam was still asleep next to her as the sun was barely peeking through their blinds and the ray caught it. The diamond sparkled like it used to way back when, but the extra weight of her wedding band made her smile. It was matching Adam's, thicker one and her smile grew bigger as she watched her new husband sleep. Husband! It was a word she'd never get bored of hearing. He looked more relaxed than she had seen him in a while and selfishly, she hoped it stayed like that. She ran her fingers through his hair and her mind took her back to the past night at the courthouse. It was just the two of them, with Kevin as a witness because there was no one else that they wanted by their side on the most important day of their lives. She was wearing a simple white dress and Adam sported a light grey suit with a navy blue shirt without a tie, his smile his best accessory. Kevin's excitement made the whole night even better. His support through their entire relationship had been everything to her and it only seemed fitting.

"What are you thinking about Mrs. Ruzek?" Adam's sleep filled voice pulled her out of her memory.

"Last night." She leaned down for a kiss.

"Last night was pretty epic if I say so myself." He smiled against her lips, his hand running under her shirt and along her back, pulling her close to him.

"Best night ever." She agreed. "Platt is going to kill us though." She pulled out of the kiss but Adam refused to release her from his chest.

"She'll live, I promise." He chuckled. "She might even tell me it's about damn time I got my head out of my ass."

"Oh, she'll definitely have a few words for you." She agreed. "But she might have a few for me too."

"We'll find out soon enough." Kim looked over Adam's shoulder and looked at the time. "We should get ready for work soon." She kissed him again.

"We still have some time until then darling." He flipped her on her back and pressed his body into his and she giggled when his lips assaulted her neck.

"Adam." She ran her fingers through his hair as he moved the strap of her top aside.

"Come on darling, just one more time."

"Okay, just one." She couldn't stop the giggle that escaped her throat and Adam made love to her as promise. They had to shower quickly together so they wouldn't be late, and they barely made it out of their place in time.

Adam drove towards the 21st, his fingers linked with Kim's. She was looking out the window and he could see the smile on her face through her shoulders.

"How do you think they'll react?" She finally turned to look at him.

"They'll be happy, unless Kev already spilled the goods."

"If we manage to get through Platt, we might be in the safe to make a surprise out of it." Kim didn't want to keep their wedding a secret from the rest of the team, their family.

"You better take care of that smirk because Platt won't buy that so early in the morning." He pulled her hand to his lips and kissed her knuckles.

"Look who's talking?" She grinned.

"You know how I am with Platt, I've got her." He winked at her as he steered the car in the back lot of the 21st. He knew that with just one cocky reply Platt would be none the wiser. He parked in their usual spot and they grabbed their bags, Kim arguing to actually take her own. They walked up the stairs arguing about chivalry when Platt accosted them.

"Hey, you two love birds, over here." She motioned them to her.

"What's up Sarge?" Kim smiled at her, dropping Adam's hand and slipping it in her coat pocket.

"Grab your blues, Voight needs you on the streets for a case." Kim looked at Adam who simply shrugged.

"Details?" She looked back at Platt.

"How the hell should I know? Just get your ass up there and get to work."

"Yes ma'am." Adam mock saluted her with a smirk.

"That's not going to work today Boy Wonder, get out of my face you two." They looked at each other without a word and made their way up.

"Who peed in her coffee today?" Adam dead panned as they went up the stairs.

"Don't know but hopefully our news will get her in a better mood."

"Keep those fingers crossed darling." He whispered to her ear as they made it to the top step.

"There you are." Atwater's grin told him he was about to burst at the seams, so they had to make their announcement before he actually spoiled the whole thing.

"There we are." Adam echoed as he put his coat on the back of his chair. "What's got you so cheery this morning?" He leaned in his chair, waiting for Voight to actually come out of his office to actually tell them what the case was about that needed them to be stuck in those un-breathable uniforms.

"Had a great night last night, beautiful morning, what's not to be happy about?" He smiled at Burgess who shook her head as she went to grab herself a coffee in the break room. She noticed that Halstead and Upton were the only ones not there so they could finally tell their news. She knew they didn't have that much time to be able to tell everyone before Voight sent them on their case.

"You have one too many drinks last night at Molly's?" Kim chuckled as she came back out with her steaming cup.

"You know I can get my drink on."

"I can attest to that." They turned at the sound of Halstead's voice, he and Upton making it to the landing with coffee of their own.

"Damn straight."

"Alright everyone, settle down." Voight finally came out of his office, pushing his hands deep inside of his pockets.

"Platt told us you needed two uniforms?" Adam voiced his question out loud.

"And I see that you two haven't changed yet." Adam closed his eyes and cursed under his breath.

"We're going to get changed out, but we have some news we want to share with you guys first." Kim looked at Adam and Kevin could barely contain himself anymore.

"What? You got engaged again?" Platt dead panned.

"Actually, we got married last night." Adam corrected.

"Now I know you're pulling my leg." She chuckled.

"We're telling the truth."

"She ain't playin'" Kevin jumped up from his seat and pulled Kim into him for a hug. "I was there." He shifted her so she was leaning against his side, his arm around her shoulder and hers around his waist.

"We just went for it." Kim confirmed.

"Let me see the ring then." Platt walked up close and personal to Kim. She pulled it out of her pant pockets and showed her the ring, Upton coming to gawk at it as well.

"About damn time you put a ring on it Ruzek." She looked back at Adam who had a shit eating grin on his face.

"Can't run forever Sarge."

"What did you do to convince him to take the plunge?" Voight laughed at Platt's attack of words.

"Nothing, it was actually his idea."

"Well I'll be damned." She laughed.

"Two Ruzek's in intelligence, we're screwed now." Halstead gave a throaty laugh next to Adam.

"No no, I'm not taking his name at work." Kim argued Jay's logic. "I'm keeping my right to kick his ass up in here like I always do, right babe?"

"Couldn't stop you if I wanted to." He winked at her as the hugs followed.

"Alright, alright everyone, we've got some work to do." Voight was still standing in retreat but with a smile on his face.

"What do we have Sarge?" Upton pulled away from Platt and Kim.

"The Ruzek's will act as out patrol back-up, three overdoses found this morning. Let's get to work." Everyone scattered to get ready and Kim and Adam found themselves in the locker room, putting on their uniforms. Kim was the first to finish getting dressed, walking to his side of the row of lockers?

"Ready?"

"Yeah." He stood from the bench where he was straddling it, pulling her to him. "You smell ready good today, have we talked about that?" He smirked as he pulled away from her, smiling but Kim could only chuckle at the already distant memory.

"How about you tell me that when I'm not like, wrapped up in some semi-breathable polyester?"

"Okay."

"Okay." Kim turned in his arms as he kissed her cheek and pulled away out of his embrace. "Let's get this case started so you can tell me again when we get home." He followed her out of the locker room as they joined the team to solve their case, Adam wanting nothing more than to spend some more time alone with his new bride.
