Chapter 35
Wow, some of you were actually happy to see Sofia get with Dean... Loved reading through your reviews, there was a fair few of them!
xXx
Dean kept a firm grip on her, trying not to flinch when her hands found his ass and gripped at the pocket his phone was on in. The effects of the alcohol were not going to keep him going. He really didn't want to have to do this but if getting with her was going to trick some sort of confession out of her, then so be it. If he had to, he would. He fell on top of her as they landed on the bed, pulling his head up and she gave him an odd look.
"Dean, baby. What's brought all this on?" She pushed him and he fell off her, rolling to the side She sat up and faced him, wiping the lipstick he had smeared across her lips. He chuckled and let his hands fall onto the bed.
"I couldn't find a way out of my relationship. Then some absolute genius spiked her and her drug test came back that she had been taking something to improve her performance. I finished with her there and then." He laughed, pretending that he found the idea funny, when in reality, he thought the complete opposite. Sofia's eyes shifted from him as she focused on the lamp. The look boosted his confidence.
"Sofia, someone helped me get away from that pyscho, don't worry. If I knew who they were I would be forever in their debt. It's probably one of the luckiest things to happen to me in a long time." He could tell she was on the verge of saying something but he didn't want to straight out ask who this person could be, although he already knew.
"I... sort of knew who it was." Dean faked a look of surprise and excitement.
"You gotta tell me, I need to thank them personally." Sofia leaned forward and gave him a peck on the lips.
"I'll do you one better, I'll go and get them for you. The person in question is at the motel down the street, I'll grab my car and pick them up bubba." Dean grinned as he kissed her, more excited that his plan was falling into place. She took her keys off the mantel and exited the room, blowing him a kiss on her way out. When the door was shut and he knew it was locked, he fished his phone out, cutting the recording and finding the contact he needed. He let it ring before she finally answered.
"I have a solution to Karlee's problem and I know who set her up, Sofia's away to get whoever is responsible." Stephanie calmed him down and made him repeat himself before she sighed.
"Okay, so Sofia admitted it?" Dean confirmed her question.
"Get it on recording. Scratch that in fact, What room is she in, I'll be there in person." Dean rallied off her room number before his boss hung up. He suddenly stopped. Would she make it up before Sofia got back. And where on earth was Steph meant to hide. He was sure her suit was too expensive to be hiding under the bed. He hopped over the bed and to the window, just in time to see Sofia leave the parking lot in her car and speed off down the road. Should he call Karlee? He umm'd and ahh'd for a few seconds before deciding against it. Dean paced the whole room, looking for anything incriminating too. He jumped out of his skin when the door was almost kicked in and Steph almost fell through it, a bodyguard in tow.
"We are going to be in the bathroom. Get this out of them as quickly as possible. Set your phone to record too, just as extra evidence." He nodded and did as he was told, propping it up on the bedside table whilst Stephanie and her bodyguard walked into the bathroom, shutting the door. He was beginning to panic, that was no secret. What if someone needed the loo? He sat on the bed and continued to fidget around and bite his nails. When he heard the quick taps on the door, he flew to the door, composing himself before opening it. The sight before him made his gut drop and his insides feel as though they were on fire.
Eva Marie
"What?" Was all he could manage in barely a whisper as he was merely pushed to the side as Sofia walked in with her, a sadistic smile on her face. Sofia screwed her eyebrows up at his response and he tried to act out his plan once again, knowing his boss was in the bathroom.
"Wait, babe, I'm confused. So it wasn't you, it was Eva?" He crossed his arms and then pulled her to sit on the bed with him, making sure he still seemed interested. She wrapped her arm around him.
"We bonded over our hatred for Karlee. She had ruined any chance I had by choosing Alice over me and Sofia just plain hates her." Dean swallowed his rage, squeezing the bed sheet to his left where the other two women couldn't see him. This was harder than he thought it would be,
"So you both did it? Oh my god, what did you do, slip some into her water?" He joked and Eva gave him a dead serious look. Shit, maybe she did.
"How else did you expect me to get her to take it, ask her? I fed her cupcakes and salads full of the stuff, not to mention all the bottled water I gave her. Eva laughed, grabbing a chair and sitting on it in front of them. It sounded obvious now. Dean shot Sofia a confused glance.
"Hold on, explain everything, from the beginning. I'm hella confused right now." He added a chortle on the the end of everything he said to try and make it look as though he still found it funny. He hoped he sounded convincing. Eva dug into her pocket and took out a small case. She opened it and handed it to Dean. He eyed the syringe and the clear bottle of liquid, not exactly feeling the urge to take it out and dirty it with his fingerprints.
"I got close to her, made her think I needed her help and it started from there. I got the stuff off an ex boyfriend of mine and everything I got her water, I loaded it up with the drug."
"So that's why she's being fired? Because you spiked her water?" Dean was burning an angry rage and he just couldn't quite keep it in any longer.
"She's losing her job because you girls were jealous? I can't actually believe you would go that far. And what now? You bring Eva up onto the main roster to fill her spot?" Sofia stood up with him and grabbed his arm.
"It's good for business babe. We had planned all along that if Eva got rid of Karlee without making it look like it was me, I would get her up and get her a good storyline." Dean couldn't believe what he was hearing. Good for business? They were beginning to sound like a dodgy gimmick.
"Her career was built around a sob story, and it isn't fair on the talent. You have to see where we are coming from Dean..." He scoffed in their faces, throwing his arms up.
"Karlee's whole career was built from hard work and determination. You bitches pulled up her past and made the whole fan base feel sorry for her. She wanted to keep all that stuff quiet." Eva moved to sit beside Sofia and held her arm as Sofia looked on, dazed and confused.
"Baby, why are you defending her and acting like we are the bad guys, we didn't just do this for us, we did this for you!" Her voice started to get higher and more like a child's every second that she talked. Dean wanted to roar, let out a scream.
"Drop the act, you know fine I still fucking hate you is gullible really your middle name?" Sofia's jaw hit the ground and she jumped up, slapping his straight across the face while Eva smirked.
"You bastard! Why would you do that?" She screamed, thrashing her arms in the air, thumping them against his chest. Eva jumped forward and controlled her friend, calming her down by whispering in her ear. Sofia listened for a moment before looking up, her grin spreading. She pushed Dean out of the way and grabbed her phone off the bedside table.
"Trying to catch us out were you Ambrose?" She pressed a few buttons on the screen and the video was gone. She had to go that one step further though and she retracted her arm before launching his phone across the adjacent wall, laughing as she did so. Dean gave her no reaction. He knew up the phone didn't matter.
"Really?" He asked, simply. The two women looked at each other.
"I'll be telling Karlee you came onto me, kissing me and grabbing me the way you did. Just like you did all those years ago." The sentence that spilled from her vile mouth made Dean feel sick to his stomach. Although it was their plan, he still felt disgusted with himself.
"Do you really think I didn't tell her what I was going to do? She knew all along the only way to get you to confess was to play along with one of your fantasies. Face it girls, you are both done. And karlee will be pressing charges." Sofia and Eva went into a silent panic. You could tell by the look on their horrified faces.
"There is no evidence. You can't prove anything. Drug takers find lies and ways to make it seem as though it wasn't them. And that's what it's going to look like. Sad and pathetic Karlee, trying to work her way out of something that was totally her fault." She smirked and crossed her arms, as if that meant the conversation was over and done with. Was this where he went and got Stephanie, or was she going to wait and tell the girls on her own? His question was answered when the door to the bathroom flung open and the three of the, Dean included almost shit their pants. Steph was like a raging bull, even Dean got scared for a second. Sofia stood up, choosing to face her. Bad idea.
"You have thirty seconds to get a bag packed and out of this hotel before I burst. Sofia, consider yourself fired and expect a call from the police, Eva, you too." Sofia squared up to her.
"You can't fire me, I haven't done anything wrong. It was Eva who spiked her, not me." Sofia had thought this through. She knew if she was found out, she would get merely a suspension. Or so she thought.
"Yeah, well I've had enough of your shit. As I said, clocks ticking and if you don't get your sorry ass out of here, I'll let karlee deal with you myself and considering what I could let her hear, i doubt she would be very nice to you." Sofia was on edge and she realised she had no way out. She was gone. She took her hand across Mrs McMahons face so quick that not even Steph saw it coming. She tried to do the same a second time but Steph grabbed her wrist and gripped, pulling her forward so their faces were almost touching.
"I have warned you once Sofia. Get the fuck out of the hotel room I'm paying for, get that go damned car returned to the dealership and never ever step foot in this company again. And if you even dare mention my company, I'll have you done for defamation and slander. I have warned you. I will not be doing it again. See you in court." She pushed Sofia away from her.
"Pack her bags for her, I want her out." She nodded to her bodyguard and both her and Dean walked out of the room, slamming the door with enough force to splinter the wood.
"You did good. She's in the clear." Dean let out a breath of relief and slumped against the door, trying to relax his muscles.
"I have three witness statements against her, a recording and a smashed phone. We can recover anything deleted. Oh, and I owe you a new phone." Dean nodded. Karlee was saved. She was getting to keep her job and Sofia was finally gone from their lives. He had to see her. It was the first thing in his mind.
"I'll go and call her, get her to meet me in my office in an hour or so. Until then, I think you should go and tell her what's happening." Dean grinned, thanking her for letting him be the bearer of good news. He dashed along the corridor, slapping happily on her door, expecting her to answer immediately. He started to panic when there was no answer. He tried the door but it was locked. Where had she gone?
xXx
Karlee felt refreshed and happy when she woke up from her power nap which was surprising considering what was going on around her. She had spent her time alone adding up the pros and cons of the whole situation and she had oddly found peace with what could happen. There was always a high chance that she plan her and Dean had devised wouldn't work so she decided to go with what was going to happen to her if it didn't work. She had already decided what she was going to do. She had a cousin who had just had a baby girl, she would maybe stay with her for a few weeks, catch up and help with the newborn considering dad would be away a lot. That would be after Kaitlyn and Seth got married of course, which was a week away. Her stomach knotted at the thought of having to tell them she was losing her job and leaving the country. Her mind was more focused on Dean and Alice and how she would tell them and make it easier. That was the only obstacle she had hit. Dean.
She was drawn from her thoughts as her phone ran on the table. She slowly but surely made a jump for it, answering swiftly and laying on her stomach to find out her fate.
"Karlee, it's Stephanie. I need you in my office in an hour. We have some things to discuss." Karlee agreed and that was the end of the phone all. Very assertive and serious. Shit, this was it. Her life was over. Karlee didn't cry, surprisingly. She held it together and made a shift about getting ready for her meeting with the boss. This was it. The end but she was sure as hell going to look good whilst getting fired.
xXx
Karlee rocked up at the arena with her sunglasses covering her heavily made up eyes and her slick red lips were in a straight line as she spa waited her fate. Her heels clicked on the concrete and she turned a few heads, some wondering why she was at the arena so early before tapings. She made her way to the make shift office and there was only a tiny part of her just now that was dreading the meeting. She had found a sort of peace with what could happen. She didn't even knock on the door. She couldn't wait. She just entered and sat down, taking her glasses off. Stephanie didn't bat an eyelid.
"Karlee Eckland, your man is definitely a knight in shining armour." Karlee stuttered.
"What?" She asked, her stammer making it hard for Steph to understand why she wasn't dancing around.
"Oh, did Dean not have a chance to tell you? We found out what happened, Karlee, your job and career and both safe." Karlee opened her mouth to speak but nothing came out. She struggled to comprehend the situation. Why? Who? What?
"I can't show you just now because the police currently have the recordings. But it was Eva Marie who Sofia had hired to poison you with the drug. I'm sorry I didn't listen to you sooner, I should have known she hadn't changed." Steph rubbed her forehead with her palms and it was then Karlee couldn't keep it in any longer.
"Steph, I'm going to be going to stay with a cousin in the UK for a few weeks, after Seth and Kaitlyn get married." Steph looked up and nodded, grabbing her diary.
"You know what, that sounds like a great idea, you deserve a break. When were you thinking of coming back?" Karlee swallowed. Hard.
"That's the thing Steph, I won't be coming back."
