Chapter 37

xXx

Karlee had managed to calm Alice before thee others got home, and thank goodness. Or there would have been questions. Karlee had done everything on her to-do list and was grateful when Alice offered to help. It had been emotional, sorting through all her wrestling gear and stuff she had acquired over the years. Once it was all boxed up, she changed her mind and ordered it into storage. She couldn't part with it just yet. When they heard the truck pull up they tidied that last bits of remaining evidence in the cupboards and locked the big one in the bedroom, not that anyone apart from Karlee would likely to be in there. Alice ran out to jump into Roman's arms, causing him to give Karlee a frown when she wouldn't let go. She smiled innocently. Roman was the next name on her agenda... Unless Alice confided in him first. Dean hopped out the truck with his bag slung over his shoulders, sporting a lovely big bruise on his bicep. Karlee cocked her head and pointed.

"What happened?" She asked as he walked towards their house. Roman let Alice down on her feet, not taking his hand away from her waist.

"Dumbshit over here laid a superman punch on me." Dean shot him a mock stare and Roman held his hand up in defence.

"It was pretty funny to see him rolling around though. And I never even hit him that hard!" He played in defence. The two launched into a fake fight, mostly to make the girls laugh but it just raised a weak smirk out of both of them. Roman knew something was wrong and ushered his lady inside and to the safety of their bedroom. Karlee knew then and there he would end up finding out in a matter of minutes. She just had her fingers crossed he didn't blow a fuse and storm out and tell Dean.

Karlee sighed as she dumped her bag on the bed. The bed which she had no option but to share with Dean. Seth's idea of giving them separate beds obviously hadn't stuck in his head long. Dean didn't seem bothered as he hung up his suit and Karlee's dress. They left the door open, knowing Alice or Roman would be through to check they weren't knocking lumps out of each other.

"You ready for tomorrow?" Dean asked. Karlee spun around and nodded.

"Why wouldn't I be? Two of my best friends are getting married. I couldn't be happier." There was almost a hint of jealously in her voice. Was this not where she was meant to be in her life? Getting married and settling down? Dean nodded and shut the door.

"I thought it would be strange being at a wedding together, even weirder if it wasn't ours." Karlee's heart shook inside her body, guilt racking her. She kept her back to him, looking out over the balcony.

"I'm going to see the groom," Dean muttered, leaving the room and shutting the door. Karlee slumped against the railings of the balcony, letting her body slip to the floor and enjoy the heat whilst she could. She heard it wasn't very warm in the UK at this time of the year.

"So when do you leave?" She shut her eyes. Alice had told him then. Karlee opened her eyes and looked over to see Roman leaning against his own balcony in the room across. He was gazing out over the valley below them as it glittered in the sunshine.

"I leave to have my match tomorrow with Alice and then I'm gone. I catch a red eye tomorrow night." Roman nodded.

"Its clear you haven't told Dean yet." Karlee shook her head. She had no idea when she was going to tell him.

"You have to tell him before tomorrow. He has to have a chance to get himself together before you leave. You can't go without him having his say babe." Karlee held her head in her hands. She felt so guilty. She had to walk up the aisle as a bridesmaid and dance with him, all whilst he was blissfully unaware that she would be gone in less than a few days.

"I will Roman, you just might have to pick up the pieces for me. I'm so sorry." He nodded and left the balcony and a wave of shame washed over Karlee. She was leaving her man and her best friend and Roman was going to have to deal with the heartbreak, fix them almost. She didn't hear the door t her room being opened and was surprised when she felt two strong arms pick her up. She looked up to see Roman, his arms outstretched.

"You need to do what's right for you. I'll deal with these two." She wrapped her arms around him and the shame was washed away.

"Than you Roman, you've done so much for me and I don't think you realise how amazing you are. Dean is so lucky to have you as a brother, and Alice? She knows how lucky she is." Roman had always been special to her. And it was like leaving family behind. She was so glad Alice and him ha found each other, no matter how rocky their road had been.

"Listen, I'll take the boys out tonight. You can stay in my room with Alice and me and Dean can kip in here. I'm sure Alice would appreciate the time together." Karlee almost tarted crying again.

"Thank you so much!" She gave him a final hug before he left the room. Karlee watched the door close and sighed. At least she wouldn't have to be around Dean, feeling guilty constantly. She gathered up all her things including her bridesmaid dress and decided to leave before Dean came back. It would be easier that day.

xXx

"She's refusing to get out of bed." Karlee stood at the door with her hands on her hips, a smile on her face as Roman copied her actions. Under the piles of blankets was a very moody sleepy woman who was not to be messed with. Alice was always a nightmare to wake up. She even had a rule that unless you were offering food or sex, she was not to be woken before nine. You could guess the only way Roman was able t get her up in the mornings.

"Babe, you have to get up so you can get your hair done!" Roman encouraged her but they just saw the pile on the bed squirm and huff and puff before a hand popped out to flip them off.

"I'll get the stylist to straighten my hair then..." Roman teased and almost as if by magic, the jumped out from under the covers and onto the top of the bed.

"You wouldn't dare!" She scowled, pointing at her boyfriend, causing Karlee to burst out into a fit of giggles, partly caused by the glass of wine she had had to calm her jittery nerves when she first woke up at 6am. She was the only one that never had to deal with the hair drama that the other girls did.

Alice settled down within the hour and had pushed Roman out of the door. Karlee had thanked him for coming to wake her up. They had a lot of preparing to do but the men didn't so they went back to bed for a few more hours. All they had to do was get up shave, wash and dress. The girls on the other hand were getting ready in Kaitlyn's suite and they had their own make up artist and hair stylist coming. They were in for a treat!

"Can we just go down the corridor like this?" Alice asked, twirling around in her silk black robe that read 'Bridesmaid' in white sparkles across the back, completed by a cute black lace trim. Karlee had a matching one, completing her look with three glasses and a bottle of non alcoholic champagne in her hand.

"Hell yeah, why not? You grab the dresses and shoes and lets go!" Karlee and Alice squealed and grabbed their things before taking a few selfies then dashing off down the hall towards Kaitlyn's suite. They arrived and knocked loudly, the door opening immediately. They stepped in, looking around them in awe at the beauty of the room she was staying in. Everything was white and gold, very posh and defiantly the perfect thing for a honeymoon suite.

"Kait... This is stunning!" They both gasped, not even realising Kaitlyn was facing them, already made up and hair done. They finished gawking and looked at her, jaws dropping even further.

"Kait!"

"You... look amazing!" Karlee was lost for words as she took in how pretty her best friend looked. Her make-up was simple yet the glow she had from being pregnant made her even more beautiful. Kaitlyn fanned her face as she tried not to cry.

"Stop! I'm emotional enough!" Alice and Karlee bounded towards her and hugged her as tightly as they could. She calmed down and shooed them away, straightening up again.

"Right! Lets get this show on the road! Karlee, hair. Alice, make-up!"

xXx

They had all cried at one point before they had finally got to the doors of the church. The artist had to re-apply mascara and eye liner a few times but it was all part of this crazy experience they were on. Most of the tears had been from Kaitlyn and Alice, due to Karlee leaving but after sitting them down and telling them to hold it together, they had no option but to man up. This was Kaitlyn and Seth's day. Karlee would be damned if they made it about her.

Karlee felt like princess in her floor length red gown, the pale colour accentuating her pale skin tone, since she hadn't had a tan and Alice looked a picture in her pale blue matching dress. Kaitlyn had looked at both of them like a proud mother when they appeared out of the bathroom together all dresses to perfection. Kaitlyn looked like a queen. Her gown flowed over her baby bump, falling to the floor like a waterfall. She was wearing flats but was naturally taller than her bridesmaids anyway. Seth, Dean and Roman were currently at the other side of the doors, waiting at the alter for Kaitlyn, Karlee and Alice.

"I just want to say now, I would never have anyone else by my side. I love you girls so much and I never want you to forget this moment and how happy you've both made me." Karlee blew her friend a kiss, not wanting to spoil her make-up. There were two en that had asked a few times already if they were ready. And when Kaitlyn finally nodded, they tapped the door signalling the music to start and opened the doors.

Kaitlyn had no father to walk her down the aisle and her mother had wanted Karlee and Alice to do the honours. They walked either side of her, a bunch of flowers tightly grasped in each hand as they smiled for the photographer. Seth stood with his back turned to his pregnant bride, itching to turn round and see her. Roman and Dean turned though and time stopped for them as they laid eyes on Karlee and Alice. Roman grinned, knowing he would happily walk down the aisle with the woman in blue. That he know knew for a fact. Dean was breathless as Karlee swept a strand of hair from her face, looking up and catching his eyes, offering him a soft smile as they walked down for Kaitlyn to meet her partner. Seth had tears in his eyes when he caught sight of Kaitlyn and his hand shot over his mouth as he tried to put words together.

"Kait..." He gasped, taking her hands and looking her up and down with the most loving look that a girl could only dream of. Alice took her flowers and stepped to the left, where the bridesmaids stood and Dean and Roman did the same on Seth's right.

xXx

The service passed in a blur. Kaitlyn and Seth cried. As did Alice, Karlee and half the congregation. Kaitlyn wasn't the romantic type but her vows were surprisingly sweet. Seth on the their hand wiped the floor with his. He had Kaitlyn bubbling like a baby as he confessed his undying love for her and how he would always worship her. When they were finally allowed to kiss, it was breathtaking to see. Karlee watched as her best friend grinned towards their families, her hand resting on her belly and the other one wrapped in Seth's hand. They had some photographs taken, once she had her make-up fixed obviously. She watched as Roman and Alice posed together to have their photos done, her hand lovingly placed on her mans chest as they both grinned. Karlee could feel a presence beside her and turned to face Ambrose.

"Kaitlyn threatened me saying if we don't get our photos taken, she's going to carve her name into my forehead with her nails." Karlee spluttered a laugh, covering her mouth and absent mindedly placing a hand on Dean's chest. They both smiled, unaware the photographer was snapping away.

"Would you like to stand together and get your photo taken. You make a lovely pair." The man with the camera commented. Dean and Karlee said nothing as he placed his hand low on her waist and his other hand behind his own back. Karlee kept her opposite hand positioned on her chest as she smiled. And it didn't feel forced. She happily smiled for the cameraman as he snapped away. She knew it would make Kaitlyn happy and that was the main thing.

xXx

Karlee forgot how good it was to eat. After all the drama she had to put up with in the weeks just past, food was a low point of interest on her agenda so to have a three course meal after the wedding was just perfect. She sat next to the bride of course, with Dean on her other side. There hadn't been much time for conversation as they were rushed along to the signing of the marriage certificates and outside for more photos. Kaitlyn was in her element and it was such an awesome feeling to witness her being so happy. She sat there, enjoying the speeches from everyone whilst she sipped on some more champagne.

Once all the food was done with and the drinks were on a steady flow, the staff who had been ired to help cleared up and pushed some more tables to the side to make the dance floor bigger and so that when some more guests arrived, they had somewhere to sit. Karlee excused herself to go to the bathroom, easing out of the narrow space between the chairs and the wall. When she came out, powdering her face and applying another layer of lipstick, she was surprised to see Kait come flying in, Seth behind her.

"Whoa!" Karlee yelped as Kaitlyn up-chucked her whole dinner into the toilet whilst her new husband collected her hair behind her head.

"Karlee, can you and Dean go and welcome the rest of the guests please. I don't want them coming in and struggling to find somewhere to sit. Tell them we've gone to get some pictures taken. Karlee nodded and after making sure she was fine one again, she bolted out of the bathroom as fast as her heels would take her, looping her hand around Deans arm and dragging him to the door.

"What's wrong?" Dean cried, looking her up and down thinking something was wrong or there was some kind of emergency. Karlee quickly explained the situation and they quickly snapped into the job they were meant to do. Most of the guests who were arriving now were members of the roster who were friends but either were to busy to appear at the wedding or were just acquaintances. They welcomed The Bella's and their partners, who looked real shape in their suits. They chatted for a while pointing out an empty table where they could sit and where they could put their gifts. Strings of people came flowing in, mostly people who were related to the WWE. The last couple to arrive, made Karlee's stomach churn. The McMahon's.

Karlee silently hoped that Steph, Vince or Paul would say anything to her or Dean about her upcoming departure. Steph approached them, a big gift bag in her hands. Paul closely behind his wife.

"You look amazing Karlee! Red really is your colour." She gave Karlee a hug and they went to walk away, all for of them and Karlee let out a sigh of relief that nobody had said anything. Now she could relax...

"Oh, and Karlee, I want to see you after your last match and before you fly out of the country, I have something for you." Karlee slammed her eyes shut, scared to look. Dean ever so slowly looked over to her, his hands coming up as if to ask her what she was on about. Steph caught on to why there was such a negative reaction and rushed her blabbermouth father away from the scene. Karlee opened her eyes and Dean was turning on the spot, one hand coming over his mouth and one hand on his hip.

"Last match?" Dean asked. He paced around and she bowed her head and nodded.

"Fly out of the country? Are you leaving?" She nodded again and he leaned against the column of the wall. He kept running his hands over his face in disbelief as Karlee started to shake.

"When are you coming back?" Tears started sliding down her cheeks as they looked at each other and held eye contact. It suddenly dawned on Dean. She wasn't coming back. He shook his head, mouthing 'no' over and over again. Karlee broke down as Dean turned and left, his hand shooting out and his tie flying in the same direction. Kaitlyn emerged from the bathroom just as Karlee chucked off her shoes and handed them to Roman, who had seen the whole incident.

"Karl! What's wrong?" She asked, referencing the tear-stained cheeks and Dean's absence. Karlee shook her head. She couldn't believe this had happened. She couldn't think of what to say.

"He knows Kaitlyn..." She sobbed before taking off and running after him.
