Chapter 43

Karlee raced through double doors, one after another as she frantically searched for her friend. She had already turned up at the wrong hospital and was scared she was going to miss something important.

She breathed a sigh of relief as she laced eyes on Kaitlyn, hair perfect draped over her shoulders with a monitor strapped to her enormous belly. She had a gas and air tube in one hand and Seth's hand in the other. Karlee didn't interrupt as the nurse checked her over and she watched them as they all nodded, paying close attention to what the doctor was saying behind them. Kaitlyn caught sight of her redheads friend as the two left and she squeaked as she tried to sit up but winced in pain.

"Man are you huge." Karlee snorted as she went in for a hug. She knew Kait was bubbling already but she out that down to her hormones.

"I'm so glad your back." She hiccuped through tear. Karlee wasn't even sure if she was staying for god but she didn't want to ruin the moment. She looked around her and took in the luxurious surroundings. Instead of whitewash like any normal hospital, she walls were a deep maroon colour with gold accents.

"I see it pays to be friendly with the McMahons." Karlee giggled as she poked fun at their executive looking suite. Kaitlyn laughed but Seth grunted.

"It even has a bath." Kaitlyn swooned and Karlee and Seth just looked at each other and burst out laughing.

"what!?" Kaitlyn moaned as the two giggled on like a pair of children.

"Like your gonna wanna take a bath after pushing two children out your vag." Karlee started roaring with laughter again and Kaitlyn out on a fake pout. Te laughter died down on its own and they all sat in silence for a moment.

"Dean was here." Karlee didn't look up. She knew what her friend was trying to do. She gave the tiniest of nods in acknowledgement.

"He's a wreck." She looked at Seth when he spoke. He wasn't one for eating involved but before he said something, it must be bad. Karlee knew he was drinking and she knew he probably was right this second. She was kind of glad as it usually meant he wouldn't leave his room so she probably wouldn't run into him.

"I know, and I'm sorry, but I'm not ready. I don't know what I want yet." Seth remained tight lipped. He knew what she wanted. Everyone did. Kaitlyn groaned in pain again and reached for the gas and air. All conversation stopped as she breathed her way through a contraction. Her face knotted up in pain and she looked at Seth as thought she wanted to murder him. Yet he looked and watched her in total awe, encouraging her through the pain and rubbing her sweaty forehead ever so gently.

Just as they thought it was over, Kaitlyn let out the most ear piercing scream Karlee had ever felt in her life. Here face went white and her head lolled back on the bed.

"Push...Need to push..." she tried but her body wouldn't allow it. Seth reached for the emergency buzzer and no sooner had he thrown in back onto the other side of the bed,nth doors flung open and nurses and doctors flooded the room. Karlee watched, scared as they tested her blood pressure.

"Kaitlyn, darling? I think it's time your pushed." Kaitlyn seemed to bolt upright and looked straight at Karlee. She watched as her best friend looked her dead in the eye. She was terrified.

"Miss, we're going to have to ask you to leave the room." A nurse motioned for her to leave and Karlee could hear the wail of her best friend. She went to her side of the bed and bent to kiss her forehead.

"You'll do much better with all these guys in here rather than me. I'll be right outside. You can do this. I love you." Karlee felt the tears prick her eyes as she left. She felt an enormous pang of guilt but she knew Kaitlyn needed those professionals in there. How traumatic was that, she kept asking herself. It was always a higher risk pregnancy with her having the twins.

As she wiped the tears away, Karlee pulled her hoodie closer round her. Hospitals were bloody cold. She needed some coffee and a warmer place to sit.

Karlee didn't realise she and fallen asleep until she awoke with a jolt. Seth was standing above her. Face red and he had been crying. A lot.

Karlee stood up, too fast and she wobbled.

"Oh my god. What's wrong. Is it the babies? Is it Kaitlyn?" She frantically searched his eyes for an answer. When she didn't get one in the time she wanted it in she shook his shoulders. Hard.

"SETH!" she yelped. Seth just looked her in the eye and started crying again.

"Karlee, I'm a daddy." And with that, they both started crying."

Bet I had you guys going for a moment there! I'm so glad to be back writing and getting my first review after so many years meant so much!

Just a filler chapter but I promise we're getting to the good stuff!
