Later that week, Troy was waiting at Gabriella's locker so they could walk up to the rooftop for free period. He didn't know what possessed him to meet her at her locker instead of just meeting her up there like they normally did but he was anyway. He was brought from his thoughts by a new voice. "Hey Troy."
He smiled. "Oh hey Locky, what's up?"
"Nothing much, the guys are getting in trouble for something they pulled last period so I'm just waiting for them so we can go to the gym and shoot some hoops."
"What'd they do?"
"Messed with the wrong teacher, just being stupid. They're good guys when they're not pulling stuff like this. They give me crap sometimes for not getting involved but I can't do that to Chad and Gabi, we already have enough to deal with without me getting into trouble at school."
"I'm glad to hear that Bud, you're a good kid."
Lachlan smiled. "If anyone else called me that, it'd probably tick me off but you get away with it."
Troy laughed in response but there moment was interrupted by a voice that made Troy inwardly groan. "Hi Troy."
"What do you want Sophie."
"I just wanted to see how my favourite wildcat captain is." She said as she started stroking his chest.
He grabbed her wrist and pushed her hand away. "Enough, go bother Andrew or something."
"Who cares about him right now, you know I'd give him up to be with you."
He pushed her away and narrowed his eyes. "That is enough. You along with everyone else at this school knows that I am with Gabriella and it is going to stay that way because I love her. You go back to Andrew and leave us alone. I have better things to do than be having this conversation with you, especially since you rudely interrupted my conversation with Locky." He noted that Lachlan was still standing beside him.
Before he knew what was happening, he felt Sophie's lips on his and as soon as he registered, he shoved her away only to make contact with Gabriella's hurt expression as she turned to run away. He cursed, completely ignoring Sophie and took off after her. He caught her as she turned the corner and gripped her waist, pulling her to him. "Let me go." He closed his eyes and hugged her closer to him as she fought, the emotion was clear in her voice, her hurt was so close to being released.
"Baby please, it's not what it looks like, I'd never do that to you."
She ignored his statement. "What did I do wrong? Is it because I'm not ready for a physical relationship? Is it because of what I told you on Saturday? Is -"
He hugged her tightly to him. "No, you have done nothing wrong Sweetheart. I love you so much, you know that. I promise that it's not what it looked like with Sophie. I was waiting for you at your locker and I was talking to your brother. She came up to us and started the conversation. She was the one flirting and I was just trying to get rid of her. I didn't know she was gonna kiss me and I pushed her off as soon as she did, you saw the right Baby, I didn't kiss her back."
She sighed and leant her head against his chest. "I don't know Troy, this just got so complicated."
Troy cupped her cheeks, forcing her eyes to connect with his. "Please Baby, don't say that. Nothing needs to be complicated between us. I love you so much, I don't care about these other girls. Please tell me that you believe me."
Before Gabriella could respond, a voice interrupted. "He's telling the truth G, I was there the whole time. You need to believe him."
"Locky?"
The freshman gave his sister a side hug. "I don't know what that girl was trying to pull G, but she wanted Troy, that's for sure. I was there the entire time and he showed no interest in her but she wouldn't take a hint. He's a good guy sis and you guys deserve each other. I know you guys are in love and you deserve to be together."
Gabriella smiled and hugged him. "Thanks Bud." She went back to Troy who willingly took her back into his arms, holding her tight. "I'm sorry, I should've -"
"Don't apologise Baby, you did nothing wrong. Sophie is the one who should be apologising not you."
"But -"
"No Brie, it's ok. Sophie was trying to cause drama between us but we're not gonna let that happen. I'm with you because I love you and I want to be with you always. The only time we're gonna be apart is if you want it."
She shook her head. "Never gonna happen Wildcat."
"We're in this for the long run Baby, I promise. Everything's alright and there was never anything wrong, ok?"
She nodded. "Ok I love you Troy."
"I love you Brie." He said as she cuddled closer to his chest, he rested his chin on top of her head before turning to Lachlan. "Thanks Locky."
Lachlan shook his head. "No worries Troy, you and my sister belong together and you deserve each other. I love Gabi and you've practically become like my brother so I want you guys to be together, you're good for each other." His statement was interrupted by his friends calling for him. "Well I guess they're out of trouble now, I better get going. See you later Troy. G, have a good rest of the day, I love you sis."
"Bye Locky." Troy responded.
"Bye Bud, I love you too." Gabriella responded.
As Lachlan left, Troy chuckled quietly, kissing her head. "It feels so weird to hear the word 'too' now."
Gabriella giggled. "Yeah I guess it is." She looked up at him. "Do you still want to go up to the rooftop?" He nodded in response and they walked up to the rooftop hand in hand and they spent the rest of free period together up on the rooftop.
