" [The goddess] Eris, Roman Discordia, in Greco-Roman mythology, [is] the personification of strife".- Wikipedia, emphasis added.
Cham and Deme Syndulla had just had their first child. Deme didn't know what her daughter looked like, she was squeezing her eyes shut all through the birth. The midwife droid handed Deme her child.
It was a little red twi'lek.
Cham and Deme looked at each other. They didn't know what to expect.
Two years later.
"Momma, I'm hungry!" whined Eris Syndulla. The red twi'lek was two years old now.
"Shh, not now darling," said Momma, rocking her baby sister, Hera.
Annoyed that her needs weren't getting met right away, Eris did something to catch her mother's attention. With an unseen force, she knocked over a vase. Her mother looked up.
Eris did it again, this time she raised the vase higher, it falling for longer and making the crash louder.
Momma looked scared. She set Hera in her crib. "Eris, don't tell anyone about that." Deme said looking her daughter in the eyes.
"Cham, we need to talk." Deme said, sitting with her husband on their bed.
"About what?" He asked puzzled.
Deme sighed."Eris has...the gift."
"What."
She rolled her eyes."The Force?"
Cham looked down."Oh. Do we tell the jedi?"
"I don't know."said Deme."I guess they'd find out soon enough."
Seven years later
Cham had liberated Ryloth. Well, with the help of the Republic, of course. But his Deme was gone.
His daughters had grown. Eris was 9, Hera was 7. And it was hard for both of them. He wasn't the best father, he knew that. Someone had contacted him saying he could offer one of his daughters a better life. Cham had reluctantly taken that offer telling him that he wanted to talk it out.
"I would give her food, a place to stay, and take care of her."The hooded person said.
"Hmm..What do you want from me?" Cham said, thinking of the pros and cons.
"Oh nothing, nothing ."said the mystery person.
"I'll take it." said Cham."Eris!"
"Yes Father," she said, coming into the room, suspicious.
"Pack up your things, you are going to live with this kind man."Cham said.
Eris went and did so. She went with this man, not knowing what was coming.
