The flight to Arizona was fine though all of the siblings were a little anxious as it was their first time on a plane. As all the passengers were getting off, Gabriella found it harder to keep track of where the twins were. She quickly lifted Imogen into her arms as she was directly in front of her and pulled on Lachlan's arm. "Can you carry Jas so we don't lose her in the crowd." He nodded and quickly picked up his younger sister. "Thanks Bud." They walked through the terminal and spotted Charlie waiting for them.
"Hey kids, glad you could make it. Anyone got a hug for their old man?" He noticed their silence and the girls bite their lips nervously making him sigh. "It's ok, I get it, it's going to take time. How about I take you guys home and introduce you to Rachel and Tyler." He directed his speech to the twins. "Girls, Tyler is your little brother and Rachel is your new mommy."
The older siblings narrowed their eyes. "Ok the brother thing I get, explaining the whole half sibling thing can get a bit complicated but as bad of a mother as Casey was, she is still our mother and Rachel is not going to take her place. We've done fine without a mother so far and we don't need one now." The remaining part of the statement left unsaid but the older siblings and Charlie all understood clearly what Chad was implying.
"Chad Daniel, you get one thing clear. I'm inviting you into my home with my wife and son and you ought to show some respect."
"I'll show some respect when it's deserved and need I remind you, you're the one who told us to be here."
Seeing that things were getting heated, Gabriella intervened. "Both of you, this is a public place and this discussion does not need to happen now. You both need to calm down and let's just head back to the house and sort everything out there."
Both nodded and Chad looked at his siblings. "You're right G, I'm sorry." He noticed that Lachlan was shifting Jasmine in his arms and held his own arms out to his sister who was fine with being in her oldest brother's arms. "Let's just get out of this airport."
With that being said, the family walked to the car and silently drove to the house. The sibling's eyes narrowed as they saw the rich neighbourhood before the car stopped. Lachlan leant over to whisper in his sister's ear. "So he's living here with his family with all this money while we're back in Albuquerque barely surviving week to week." Gabriella sighed and shrugged in response, hinting for her siblings to get out of the car to follow Charlie into the house.
"It's not much but it's home, right guys?"
Chad scoffed. "You're kidding right? This makes our house look like a dump."
Charlie only rolled his eyes in response and gestured for them to follow him into the living room where they saw a woman sitting on the lounge and four year old boy played obliviously in the corner. Rachel was a pale woman with platinum blonde hair seemed at least 6 years younger than Charlie. Tyler had the same blonde hair as his mother but had the same eyes as his half siblings, it was obvious that they were related. "Rachel, these are my other kids: Chad, Gabriella, Lachlan, Jasmine and Imogen. Kids this is Rachel."
They all nodded their response with a small smile before Rachel turned to her son. "Tyler look Daddy's here."
The little boy jumped up and ran into his father's arms. "Daddy!" He looked at the five siblings and scrunched his face, pointing at them. "Daddy who's that?"
"They're your siblings Little Man. Those are your brothers Chad and Lachlan and those are your sisters Gabriella, Jasmine and Imogen."
"But they don't look like me or Mommy."
Charlie looked at his son. "That's because they have a different mommy but I'm their daddy just like I'm yours." The statement seemed to pacify the boy. "Ok Mommy and I need to talk to Chad, Gabriella and Lachlan so do you want to show Jasmine and Imogen your toys?" Tyler nodded. "Thanks Little Man." The boy walked to the hallway and Imogen stood to follow him but Jasmine gripped Gabriella's arm.
"Ella, I want to stay with you."
Gabriella was about to respond but Charlie interrupted. "No Jasmine, you do as you're told, go with Tyler."
Gabriella rolled her eyes. "Don't talk to her like that, it's not your job to discipline her anymore." She lifted her sister into her arms. "Of course you can stay with me Angel."
Imogen came over. "Is Jassy alright?"
Gabriella smiled and tucked her sister's hair behind her ears. "Jassy's ok, I think she's just nervous to be away from home."
"Does she miss Troy?"
"I think she might Baby Girl, but you can still go play with Tyler and Jassy will come find you when she feels better ok?" Imogen nodded. "Good girl Imi."
When the youngest kids were out of the room, they all sat down on a lounge: Charlie and Rachel on a two seater and the siblings on a three seater; Gabriella keeping Jasmine in her lap, the little girl burying her head in her sister's neck with her arms tightly gripping the teen. The junior rubbed her sister's back in hopes to sooth her. She whispered into the older twin's ear that she loved her and that everything was ok and the little girl returned the former statement.
"Alright first things first, you are in our house so you'll show us respect and do as we tell you."
Chad spoke up. "We'll show respect as long as you treat us with the same respect and we'll do what you say within reason."
Charlie sighed. "Fine are there any things you want to clear up?"
Chad looked at his sister who nodded. "We're not forcing the twins to call you dad." He saw that Charlie was about to interrupt but held his hand up. "No they have a hard enough time with adult males as it is and they have no idea who you are so we're not going to make them call you something if they aren't comfortable. And while we're there – and this is no disrespect to you Rachel because we know nothing about you – but before you get the idea that she's gonna be our new mom and we're all gonna play happy family, none of us are going to call her mom and we're still deciding about the whole dad thing."
Charlie rolled his eyes. "Whatever, you guys will be staying in the two guest rooms so you're gonna have to deal with sharing."
"Thank you." The siblings responded.
