Troy, Gabriella, Chad and Lachlan all sat down in the Bolton living room the next day, the girl leaning against her boyfriend for support. Troy faced them all, beginning the conversation. "So what happens now?"

The oldest sibling sighed. "I honestly don't know exactly what's gonna happen but I turn 18 in a few weeks so I can go for custody of Locky and the girls if Dad tries to make any trouble. I can drop out of school and get a job so I can provide for them and there's no one that I have to worry about anyone hurting them."

"I can get a job too Chad, it won't just be you."

Chad immediately interrupted. "No way, you're staying in school and you're going to graduate, this isn't debatable Gabriella."

"But I want to help, I want to contribute too."

Troy tried to pacify the situation. "She doesn't necessarily need to drop out of school in order to get a job if she wants to, she could work part time or at night."

Lachlan spoke up. "Can I help too?"

Gabriella sighed. "Bud, I get that you want to help and I admire that so much but I want you to focus on school so that you can be as successful as I know you can be, so that you can have a good life."

He smiled sadly and moved to hug his sister. "You've both given us a good life G, even though we had to deal with Casey, you made the rest of life enjoyable for me and the girls. We love you guys and don't ever think that you've failed us or whatever's going through your mind right now."

She smiled and kissed his cheek. "Thanks Locky and I love you guys too."

Troy enjoyed seeing the close bond between his girlfriend and her brother and hated to interrupt but had to offer his statement. "I hope you guys know that my parents and I are always here for anything you guys need."

Gabriella leant into him. "Thank you Baby, we really appreciate it." He kissed her temple in response.

"Thanks Captain." Seeing that his best friend wanted to have a moment with his sister, he internally rolled his eyes but decided to give it to them. "Locky, how does a one-on-one sound?"

The freshman looked between his brother, sister and Troy and connected the dots. "Yeah sounds good Chad, let's go."

When the juniors were left alone in the living room, Gabriella giggled as Troy pulled her into his lap and she leant her head against his shoulder. "I love you, you know that?"

He gently connected their lips. "Of course and I love you Baby. Whatever happens in the next few years, we're gonna make it."

"Promise?"

He smiled and kissed her. "I promise my love, it's you and me always." He placed his hand on her jean covered thigh and gently rubbed his thumb against it. "I know people think it's naive to think like that and I know there are going to ups and downs and we'll face some struggles but I promise that we'll make it through together."

She placed her hand on top of his. "Always."
