Chapter 10
"I hate to break it to you, but Fairies don't exist." Mard Geer informs Natsu and Erza.
"But we saw one, I swear!" Natsu argues.
The group is back on the road in their carriage. Thanks to Wendy's Troia, Natsu doesn't have to worry about his motion sickness. While Wendy does have a way around it by casting it as an enchantment, she is still struggling to keep herself from getting sick. Anna is rubbing her back and trying to keep her well.
"There are no recorded sightings of fairies. Even if they did exist, the chances of you seeing one would be astronomically low."
"Well then this was the first recorded case of it." Erza says matter-of-factly.
Before there could be any further discussion, a chill ran down everyone's spines as they heard a draconic roar in the near distance. These days you could never be sure if the dragon is friendly or not. Erza reins in the horses and stops the carriage. Their best bet is to wait for it to pass over them and continue on their way. It is too dangerous to continue.
"I smell blood." Natsu remarks with a whisper.
Mard Geer motions for Erza to jump into the carriage proper to hide. Erza follows his instructions and joins the rest in the back. That isn't enough though. As the dragon draws nearer, the ground beneath them begins to shake and the horses begin to freak out. A feeling of dread overcomes the group of five as all the light filtering into the carriage is blocked out.
"Did you stupid humans really think you could hide from me?" Came the booming voice of the dragon.
Before anyone can react, a quick swipe of the dragon's claws tears through the carriage and effectively destroys it. Everyone hits the ground amidst the rubble. Pain surges through everyone except Wendy, who was being protected by Anna. Unfortunately, those two girls were also trapped beneath some rubble. Those who can stand up, face the jade dragon before them.
"Hm, five humans?" the dragon observes, "This'll be easy. Oh, and most of them are female. They taste the best."
Anna, Erza, and Wendy all flinch.
"Hey, who do you think you are!" Natsu points at the dragon, "You think it's okay to just go attacking people!"
The dragon laughs at Natsu, "I don't appreciate my food talking back to me!"
Natsu slams his fist together and faces down the dragon, "Guess I'll just have to teach you a lesson!"
The dragon ignores Natsu and ponders for a moment, "I also don't like the taste of clothes, I should do something about that."
The dragon grins at the group and charges up a roar. A magic circle forms around his mouth and he opens fire, "Jade Dragon's Roar!"
Erza quickly requips to one of her armors. This one is a bulky metal suit with two large shields that can be brought together for additional defense. This is her adamantine armor. She puts the shields together in hopes of protecting Wendy and Anna, who were still trying to get up. Natsu and Mard Geer meanwhile bolt away from the attack, having no way to defend from it themselves.
"Erza!" Natsu cries out as the three girls are enveloped by the dragon's roar. The force from the blast knocks Natsu back.
When the magic dissipates and the dust settles, the three girls find that they aren't hurt in the slightest by the attack, though they feel oddly colder than before. Erza in particularly finds a huge weight lifted off her body. She looks down and discovers, much to her embarrassment, her armor had been totally stripped from her and she was totally naked. She looked back at Wendy and Anna and quickly looked away. They too were stripped of their clothing.
"Don't look!" all three girls shout at the boys.
Erza screams this at Natsu in particular, as if tempting fate, and makes direct eye contact with him. For a moment he's just staring, making her even more self-conscious, until finally, blood explodes from his nose and he falls unconscious.
"Erza, requip to another armor!" Anna shouts at her pupil.
Erza's blush deepens as she realizes that is always an option for her. She requips into her normal armor and requips a long jacket for Wendy to cover herself up. Mard Geer also does Anna the courtesy of throwing his own jacket to cover up.
"We should avoid that." Mard Geer tells the girls.
"Agreed." They all reply.
"Ugh, seriously!" the dragon bellows, "What part of I don't like the taste of clothes do you not understand?"
"Shut up you pervert!" Erza yells at the dragon, requiping a sword and point it at the dragon.
The dragon raises his hand and swipes at Erza. Being as large as he is, Erza has no time to dodge and ends up being thrown into the forest.
"I'll be back for you."
The dragon then turns his attention to the remaining three combatants. Anna pulls out a new key. After their encounter with Lord Luxery, she had obtained the key to Virgo. She opens the gate and the dominatrix looking Virgo appeared before her.
"What's going on here?" Virgo asks with an excited smile, "What happened to your clothes?"
Anna points at the dragon.
Virgo's smile goes away, "Do you want a fresh set? I can get you a new set of clothes from the Celestial Spirit World."
"Please."
"Ooh, a fourth girl, this day just keeps getting better!" The dragon's glee quickly turns to disappointment as Virgo disappears, "Ugh, whatever."
The dragon lifts his hand and swats down on Wendy and Anna. The two girls shriek and try to run away. Mard Geer summons several large vines to try and hold off the dragon's claw. The vines manage to stave off his attack just long enough for the girls to get out of the way. The dragon's claw hits the ground with a loud boom.
Bright yellow light envelops Anna and Wendy as Virgo reappears, "Sorry it took so long, Mistress."
The bright light surrounding Wendy and Anna dissipates to reveal blue and gold dresses with the gifted cloaks over them. The two girls suddenly feel much more comfortable.
"Oh, she's back!" the dragon celebrates, "This'll be a delicious meal!"
Erza smirks at the dragon as she steps back onto the battlefield and proudly proclaims, "As if! Wendy here is a dragon slayer, she'll cut you down, no problem!"
Anna confidently pats Wendy on the back, "Go get 'em!"
Wendy's eyes widen in horror as the dragon gives her a curious look, "This runt's a dragon slayer? Guess I'll just have to kill you first!"
The dragon charges magic into his claw, making Wendy even more frightened, and swipes at her. Large Vines once more rise in front of her to try and protect her. Unfortunately, they do very little to protect Wendy, and it is Virgo's quick acting that ultimately stops the attack.
"What are you doing?" Virgo yells as she tries to hold up the dragon's claw, "Attack the thing!"
"I-I…" Wendy begins to hyperventilate.
"She doesn't know any offensive spells!" Mard Geer cries to his allies.
"What!?" Erza and Anna yell in horrified shock.
Erza dashes over to Wendy and scoops her up out of harm's way. Wendy cries apologies into her armor. Seemingly succumbing to the weight of the dragon, Virgo is crushed a moment later. Except when the dragon lifts his hand, a hole is left in the ground. Virgo resurfaces right behind Anna.
"You don't know any offensive spells?" Erza asks as she sets Wendy down, "Not even a roar?"
Wendy shakes her head with tears in her eyes.
"Ooh, that makes this way easier!" the dragon celebrates.
Vines rise from beneath the dragon and wrap around him. They begin to squeeze around his body, until he flexes and breaks them off. He turns to Mard Geer and cocks his fist. Mard Geer has no time to react, except to put up a feeble wall of vines, as the dragon punches him into the forest.
"Getting real sick of those vines."
The dragon then turns his attention back to the girls. He summons magic to his fist and smiles deviously at them.
"Now, don't struggle."
The dragon throws his fist at the four women, with Virgo and Erza stepping forward to attempt to block his incoming fist.
