Hello,

Hope everyone is ok with the lockdown! I know it's not the chapter 6 but this came up in my head and then I could stop writing it!

Caroline is one of my favourite villain in P&P so much a miss I-AM-WAY-BETTER-THAN-EVERYONE (with the rolling of the eyes of course!)

Hope you will like this little one!

PS: as per usual, critics are more than welcome! if it's to only point out my grammar is bad without any help to improve it then move on, I am sure there is lots of writer on here that write things way better than I do and have a spotless grammar :) so feel free to go to them (I am sure they would be happy) for the others that manage to stick with my bad grammar, thanks for reading this story and I hope you will enjoy it!

stay safe everyone

There were two points Caroline was certain in her life; the first was her position in society and the second that she was to be the next Mrs Darcy.

She had it plan since she met her brother's friend five years ago. Some people might have mentioned that if it did not happen yet, then it will never, but she knew William and they didn't.

He was a gentleman first, and secondly, he worked a lot, so he only awaited for the best occasion to ask her to marry him. He understood she would wait for him, so there was no rush doing it.

Others might have pointed out that William had some girlfriends during those five years (few actually two and it did not last long), but she would reply that he invariably ran back to her. Caroline was happy that he experienced life before settling down with her. Nothing out of the ordinary.

This year, for instance, her brother and Will hired more staff for their growing compagny and this new girl, Jane; well she was nice, and her brother fell in love for her (her brother always fall in love with a pretty face but he'll soon fall out of it).

The annoying part was that Jane introduced her sister to them, Lizzie, a librarian. Instantly, Caroline realized quickly how Lizzie was a money-hunter sort of woman. Lizzie constantly tried to be smarter or do something funny, and repeatedly sought to put down the others in the room so everybody can look at her. It was quite horrible to watch. And for a moment she thought Will had fallen for her. But she should have trusted him. He was made for her after all, and he recognized that.

Their romance was not an easy one, but who could claim to have an uncomplicated relationship, right? And if you consider it all, the best love stories have difficulties; otherwise, it wouldn't be unique. It could be an excellent lesson for their children to learn that love does not come that simply in life, but if you put your mind to it, then it will work out in the end.

Recently they took a break, she didn't truly want to, but looking back they needed that time to figure out themselves and what would be the next step in their existence. And Caroline was positive the next step was the wedding. So she already started some preparation, because she is an organised person and this cannot go awry. It was after all the point in her life she awaited for.

You don't mess up with that.

That is why she now prepared herself to welcome him back after a long day of work in her best nightwear that she bought especially for this occasion.

Will finish at 7.30 pm so he should be back home around 8 pm. It was now 7.55 pm. five more minutes and her world would alter forever.

She heard the car in the driveway and hurried to arrange herself on the bed. Making sure all was perfect, the champagne waiting close by next to the bed.

The door closed violently in the faraway distance, and she straightens herself. He must be angry because he had not seen her for a while now, she figured out, grinning from ear to ear.

I am going to make his existence so much better after that he will be glad to see me.

Life could not be better.

She remained unmoved, trying to guess his steps to his bedroom. She was certain he would require to change after a lengthy day. Soon enough, he will be up to appreciate the gift she created for him. Her.

Ten minutes passed but nobody. She picked up some noises downstairs, but it must have been one of his employees making dinner as she requested it.

She had to be patient; he worth the wait. What was ten minutes in the five years she had stuck around for him?

She went to the door to see if she could hear anything, that's when she listened to his rapid footstep. She rushed back to the bed when something bangs itself against the door of his bedroom. She stopped running. What should she do, maybe he hurt himself?

Caroline remembered when her life had altered, and the first time it happened was when she saw Will. As soon as she set eyes on him, her life irrevocably changed for the better mind you. But tonight, she would quickly find out that her life would turn but for the worse.

It started when she overheard it.

"Oh, Lizzie, I love you so much."

The door opened, and she did the only reasonable thing someone would do in her situation. She hid under the bed.

She watched Will's feet going toward the bed and then felt the bed moving when he placed down a giggling Lizzie.

And for the next hour, Caroline tried but failed, to obliviate everything from the two lovers on top of the bed.

Many times, she imagined how Will would take her to bed and make love to her; it was invariably sweet and cute. Now she was shocked by how vulgar he sounded. They acted like animals. He said words that made her question if it was him.

You see, William was a proper gentleman, a little quiet, but that is because he was a private man, and she could not blame him.

But the man that entered the chamber was decidedly the opposite. Not shy at all, expressing his devotion for every, and he meant it, part of Lizzie's body. And there was an abominable amount of The F-Word involved from both parties. It repulsed her to consider him swearing.

She had resolved herself at some point that this man was not Will, just an impostor. Until the lovers spoke, she was about to move out and call on them when she picked up her name.

"What do you think Caroline would make out of us?" It came from Lizzie.

"To be frank, I don't know, and I don't care!"

"Haha, well never mention that in front of her or she would be disappointed."

"I don't expect she will. For the last five years that I have known her, she had been so blind to everything I say or do that it would not surprise me if she doesn't get that one!"

"Really!"

"Yes, really, she is a total pain. You have no idea how boring and annoying it is to have someone always agreeing with you or taking every one of your words for truth."

"Hum… is this why you were attracted to me because I disagree with you?"

"I don't know perhaps, but you have your own voice and would not deter so readily from it, but you have other qualities that made me love you."

"Oh, what are they?"

Not another word was spoken between the two as giggles, moaned and fast breathing filled the room.

Caroline was motionless.

How could she had been so wrong all these years? She thought they were made for each other. They were the perfect couple.

She was utterly oblivious to the loving couples on the bed. Her mind was racing through every interaction she had with him in the last five years. She didn't catch their wonder about the champagne, nor them leaving the room.

She didn't notice how long she stayed under the bed only when she came back to reality. It was late in the night. She got out of under the bed, glanced at the couple cuddling in the bed. Him, lying on his back, shirtless and probably more, as one of his bare leg sticked out of the cover.

It was unquestionably William, not some impostors. Lizzie laid on him, her head on his chest. She looked to be naked too.

Caroline glanced at them, peacefully sleeping. A smile grazed their faces. Her dream faded away.

It was supposed to be her. But Caroline found it gross; she didn't relish sleeping nude. And the more she watched them, the more it appeared revolting to her. Their hairs were wet and messy. They looked sweaty.

If that was what life with him sounded like she unquestionably did not wish that. Her prince on his white horse has turned into a beast.

With a last disgusting look on them, she left, decided to find better for her because she deserved the finest. Her prince was still out there. And they will be the perfect couple that anyone had ever since. She would drive everyone jealous; even William would regret her.

Caroline was certain of two points in her life, her place in society, and that she merited the best.
