Seven year old Shadow was outside playing with his two year old brother Sonic.
"Sonic, nap time." their mom said and went to pick him up.
While she did that Shadow went inside to.
Half an hour later Shadow was coloring, his mom was making lunch and his dad was readying the paper when they heard something and went outside to see Eggman and an army of Swatbots.
His parents looked at each other knowing the kids needed to get out.
"Shadow, take care of Sonic." his mom said.
"I will mom. But you'll be fine!" Shadow said.
He already knew they wanted them to leave.
His parents shook their head.
"We're not gonna make it squirt." his dad said.
"There's one thing you need to know about Sonic." his mom said.
"What?" Shadow asked.
"A prophecy was made when I just had him."
"What is it?"
"The one born with speed will be the protector of Mobius. The brothers will separate when he's ready and the child will have a team of three. He will have the ability to use the seven Chaos Emeralds and defeat the enemy. He will be reunited with his brother when the enemy is defeated."
"H-how do you know it means Sonic and not me? I'm fast to!"
"He's faster than you. We figured it out when he was able to walk. Look after him until it's time." his dad said.
Shadow sniffed and nodded.
"I promise to take care of him. And until it's time protect him." he said.
"Good."
"S-should I tell him the prophecy when he gets older?"
"No. Don't tell him." his mom said.
He nodded.
"Now go grab him and run."
He nodded and went to get Sonic still asleep. He slowly picked him up and ran away without looking back at his parents.
