Chapter One

Avery's P.O.V.

"Owe, that hurts! Leave me alone!" I screamed and begged but the big kids just laughed at me and continued to kick, pinch, and hit me.

"What's the matter baby? Are you gonna cry?" the biggest boy sneered making the others laugh even harder. "Aw is the itsy little baby gonna cry?" he continued to tease.

"Leave me alone!" I cried as I tried to run away, only to have him push me right back. I was close to breaking into tears when one of the mean old ladies that work here came in.

"Alright knock it off all of you! Now there's someone here looking to adopt one of you little brats so I suggest you straighten up!" the meanie stated in a board tone. She grabbed my arm and jerked me behind her. "Come on you little whelp, I've got to get you cleaned." she scrubbed every inch of my skin until it was raw before she all but through me into a room to get dressed.

"You just wait," I sniffled, "One of these days I'm gonna get 'dopted and you won't be able to push me 'round no more." I continued to sniffle as I got dressed. When I was done I walked out into the hallway to stand in front of my door like a good little girl. I could hear another of the mean old ladies walking my way and talking to somebody.

"As you can see we have a wonderful selection of little angels just waiting for someone like you to take them home." she gushed, I gagged. She made us sound like animals, I mean I can see were someone could mistake those big kids for monkeys, but I'm definitely a kid.

"I'm sure you do." a woman's voice said in a slightly disgusted tone, that appeared to go unnoticed by the woman leading her. "I was hoping for a little girl, hopefully five or younger." my eyes brightened, I was the only five year old girl 'round for miles.

"Oh I know just the little one for you then!" miss meanie britches gushed again. They walked straight to my room, and I just had to pray that the beautiful woman that came around the corner liked me.

Hermione's P.O.V.

I sighed as I once again had to listen to the drowning sound of my father try and talk me out of adopting a child before I was married. I looked down at my watch, I had an appointment at the 'Marry Pines Orphanage' in twenty minutes, and being late would not make a very good first impression. "Look dad, I don't care what you and 'Amanda' think. I'm adopting a little girl, five years old or younger, and if you don't like it then you can fly the thousand some odd miles from America to kiss my arse!" I screamed before hanging up on him. Oh I was so happy that Mum had divorced that sorry excuse of a man. I quickly rushed out the door and apparated to the orphanage, which as it turns out was out in the middle of a forest.

"Ah you must be Miss Granger!" a woman gushed when the door opened as a response from my knock. "Right on time, that will give higher marks in our book." I may have made my intended impression, but the woman reminded way to much of Pansy Parkinson.

"Thank you." I spent the next twenty to thirty minutes filling out paperwork. When I was finally able to go around and meet the children none of them were the child I was looking for.

"As you can see we have a wonderful selection of little angels just waiting for someone like you to take them home." the woman in front of me gushed. I mentally winced what did she think these children were?

"I'm sure you do." I stated with an undertone of disgust. The 'creature' in front of me clearly hadn't noticed. "I was hoping for a little girl, hopefully five or younger." her back seemed to stiffen slightly.

"Oh I know just the little one for you then!" the vile woman gushed once again. We walked straight to a room with a little red haired girl standing in front of it. Her small hand clenched tightly around some small charm that hung from a chain around her neck. I could see a few bruises and I instantly wanted to grab her and apparate away. But I didn't I couldn't, though the look she was giving the woman next to me just increased my desire to take her away.

"What's your name sweet heart?" she looked up at me with beautiful blue green eyes.

"Avery." was her whispered response. When I held out my hand to her and asked if she'd show me her room those beautiful eyes sparkled. She took my hand and when she turned to lead me into her room I followed, closing the door behind us.

"Avery what would you like to come home with me?" I asked, and watched as those sparkling eyes went round and wide.

"Yes! But why do you want me?" I looked down at her shocked. But I smiled and bent down to her level.

"Because my dear little angel you are extremely special, you're a witch." I smiled at her as I lifted her up and into my arms. The paper work took less time on the way out, and we were on our way home before she knew it.

Draco's P.O.V.

I plopped down on the couch in my office, a self satisfied smirk on my face. I picked up the latest issue of the 'Daily Prophet' and spluttered slightly at the head lines.

'The-boy-who-lived-twice, and a red head?' there below the headline was a picture of Harry Potter kissing Ronald Weasley, his best friend for as long as I could remember. Then below that there was a story by Reeta Skeeter. But that was the precise reason I didn't read it. Then below that was a picture of Hermione Granger after the war at Hogwarts.

'Hermione Granger a mommy?' that one was too good to pass up.

'It has been noted, and confirmed by multiple sources that the

the war hero Hermione Granger has been searching multiple

orphanages in search of a five year old little girl that she is

more than willing to adopt. After the divorce of her parents,

Jean Anderson and Richard Granger, it seems that the

Gryffindor Princess is willing to make the life of another child much easier. Is there anything that this amazing witch can't do?'

"Ya there is," I muttered aloud to myself, "She can't see something that's right in front of her."
