Chapter Two

Avery's P.O.V.

I was holding on to Mommy's hand, she told me that I could call her Mommy as soon as we left the orphanage, as we walked through an open air market. Mommy stopped to look at something, and had let go of my hand for just a split second, when she wasn't in front of me any more. In fact I wasn't even in the market thingy any more. "Mommy?" I began to get scared as I started running. "Mommy!" my eyes began to fill with tears as I plopped down on the ground and started bowling. I heard loud footsteps that only got louder as they came my way.

"Hey there little one." a man's voice cooed sweetly as he picked me up. "What's wrong?" I sniffled and looked up into his face, he looked nice enough, he had whitish hair and grey eyes. I sniffled again.

"I was walking with my Mommy through this weird marketplace, and she was holding my hand," I demonstrated by grabbing his free hand, "But then she turned around to look at something and let go of my hand for just a second," again I demonstrated by letting his hand fall, "And next thing I knew I was here and she was gone and so was the market place." I waited for him to call me a liar, but he didn't.

"Okay sweetie, well let's see if we can't find your Mommy 'kay?" he asked as he placed his first finger on my nose and stroked down it, making me giggle.

"Okay." was all I said in return. We had to have been walking for at least a couple of hours when I heard Mommy's voice calling my name.

"Avery! Avery!" I watched as she came around the corner in front of us and wiggled to get down. The nice blond man hadn't noticed Mommy yet so he just thought I wanted to walk, that is until I took off running.

"Mommy!" I cried as I jumped into her waiting arms and buried my face into her neck. She pulled me in even tighter and kissed the top of my head. She was crying slightly and wouldn't stop saying my name.

"Avery, Avery, oh my baby." she stroked my hair and continued to say my name and call me her baby. "Are you okay honey?" I nodded and picked my head up off her shoulder.

"A nice man was helping me find you." I stated pointing back at the nice blond man. Mommy looked up to thank him then suddenly stopped.

"Hello Hermione." the blond man said, a smirk on his face. I looked between him and Mommy before staring at Mommy questingly.

"Hello Draco." Mommy said a tear sliding her face. "Thank you for helping my baby. I just turned my back for a second and when I turned back around she was gone." she looked at me and her eyes filled with happy tears again before pulling me into another hug.

"From how she explained it," the nice man Mommy had called Draco had helped her up and was now walking with us over to a park bench, "It sounds as though her powers are coming in and she unknowingly apparated." Mommy looked down at me then nuzzled my hair. Before turning to smile at the nice man.

"Well I knew she was special." she said a hint of joking in her tone.

Hermione's P.O.V.

Avery and I were walking through an open air market, her small hand holding tightly onto mine. I was still smiling over her reaction at me telling her that she could call me Mommy after we left that dreadful orphanage. I stopped to look at something and let go of her hand for just a second, then when I turned around to ask her if she wanted me to get some strawberries, what I'd been looking at, she was gone.

I quickly started looking for her and searching anywhere that she may have wandered off to. "Avery! Avery!" I called and called her name but it soon became clear that she was no longer in the market.

I took off towards the street and city beyond, she couldn't be gone, my baby just couldn't be gone! "Avery! Avery!" I was getting some strange looks but they could all kiss my arse, my baby was missing and she was my first priority. I'd been walking for several hours, though it felt like eons. I was rounding a busy street corner when I called out her name again. "Avery! Avery!"

"Mommy!" she cried running towards me and jumping into my outstretched arms. She buried her face into my neck, I pulled her even tighter against my chest and kissed the top of her head. I was slightly crying, and wouldn't stop saying her name. I had this feeling that if I let her go again, or stopped repeating her precious name she'd disappear again. I know she's only just came into my life, but I couldn't live without her now.

"Avery, Avery, oh my baby." I stroked her hair, and continued to coo out her name, and call her my baby. Because that's what she was now, my baby, my little girl, and anyone who wanted to even try and take her from me had better run like hell. "Are you okay honey?" I asked she nodded, then picked her adorable little redhead up off my shoulder.

"A nice man was helping me find you." she said pointing back at someone. I raised my head from her gorgeous face to thank whoever it was that had reunited me with my baby, only to meet those laughing grey eyes that I knew so well and stopped.

"Hello Hermione." Malfoy said, a smirk on his face, Avery was looking back and forth between us before looking up at me quizzically.

"Hello Draco." I said a tear sliding down my face, it was him, the blonde ferret had brought my baby back to me. "Thank you for helping my baby. I just turned my back for a second and when I turned back around she was gone." I looked down at Avery, my eyes filling with happy tears again before I pulled her into another tight hug.

"From how she explained it," Malfoy said as he helped us up off the ground, and walked with us over to a park bench. "It sounds as though her powers are coming in and she unknowingly apparated." I looked down at Avery who was currently sitting on my lap, and I nuzzled her hair before turning to smile at Draco Malfoy.

"Well I knew she was special." I joked. He too smiled, not a smirk, an honest to Godric smile.

Draco's P.O.V.

I was walking home from my office, after having to deal with to many moronic idiots that didn't know their arse from their elbow, as well as a clingy little parasite that hasn't left me alone since school, and yes I mean Pansy Parkinson, I was fed up and just wanted to cool down. I was cutting through one of the local parks when I heard a child's voice. "Mommy?" it sounded scared, alone, and young, "Mommy!" it called out a second time before I heard child sized footsteps running towards me. I saw the little girl before long, curly red hair and tear filled blue green eyes. She plopped down onto the ground and began to sob. I ran towards her, the poor little thing had to be lost.

"Hey there little one." I cooed sweetly as I picked her up off the ground, refusing to make her any more afraid then she clearly already was. "What's wrong?" she looked up into my face and sniffled, she paused for a second then sniffled again.

"I was walking with my Mommy through this weird marketplace, and she was holding my hand," she demonstrated by grabbing my free hand, "But then she turned around to look at something and let go of my hand for just a second," again she demonstrated by letting my hand fall, "And next thing I knew I was here and she was gone and so was the market place." she paused as if waiting for something, I bet she expected me to call her a liar.

"Okay sweetie, well let's see if we can't find your Mommy 'kay?" I asked stroking her nose making her giggle.

"Okay." she said in reply. We spent the next several hours looking for her mother, when suddenly she started struggling, thinking that she just wanted down I let her go. But no sooner were her feet on the ground she took off running. "Mommy!" she cried out and jumped into none other than Hermione Granger's arms. I watched them for a while, Hermione talking quietly with the little girl as she held her close, as if she let her go she'd disappear again. The little girl pointed back at me and said something. Hermione looked up at me her mouth open to say something, when she saw me and stopped, oh the look on her face!

"Hello Hermione." I said with a smirk. The little girl I'd helped was looking back and forth between us, then she looked up at Hermione quizzically.

"Hello Draco." she said, her voice soft as a tear slid down her cheek. "Thank you for helping my baby. I just turned my back for a second and when I turned back around she was gone." she looked down at her daughter, her eyes filling once again with tears, before she pulled the small red head into another hug.

"From how she explained it," I said as I walked over and helped them up, then walked with them to a park bench and sat down, "It sounds as though her powers are coming in and she unknowingly apparated." Hermione looked down at where the small child was sitting on her lap and nuzzled her hair.

"Well I knew she was special." she joked, I smiled back at her, a real smile not one of those fake smirks.

"You know I never got her name." I said as I nodded towards the little girl now asleep on her mother's lap. Hermione smiled down at the sleeping child.

"Her name's Avery, and she and I both say thank you." as she got up Hermione leaned in and kissed me on my cheek before walking away with Avery in her arms.
