Minato Alive, Kushina Dead

AN: Couple people were upset at how powerful Naruto is, I mean I said he is OP (Over Powered) but is what it is. On top of that I have always believed with the massive amount of chakra he has with proper training from a young age he would be a monster from a early age.

Chapter 3: The Start of A Real Mission!

Team 10 had worked together for roughly about 3 months now, they had assault formations and knew how to work together extremely well. Their ability to adapt and work together as a team had honestly shocked and surprised Jiraiya, but it would definitely be a good thing for them in the end. When they weren't doing missions, Jiraiya was training them in Chakra Control as well as increasing their chakra reserves. He wanted his Genin to have a large reserve of chakra, that way when the time came they needed to use jutsus, or more advanced jutsu, it wouldn't wipe them out.

Jiraiya had recommended to Minato that he give Team 10 a harder mission, the D Ranks were just to simple for his team. Naruto was strong but so were Ino and Kiba, though Naruto had become the unofficial Team Leader when Jiraiya wasn't there, sometimes even when Jiraiya was there the Sannin noticed.

The young blond teen was quickly gaining the reputation that Minato had when he was Narutos age, a prodigy that only happens once a generation. Minato had given it a few days of thought, then decided that his former sensei would know what was best for his team. Minato gave them a C Rank Mission, protect the Bridge Builder Tazuna, something he had been contemplating giving to Kakashi and his Genin.

Accepting the mission the Sannin left to go inform his team, Kiba was ecstatic about getting a C Ranked Mission. Ino on the other hand was a bit worried, she knew she was the weakest of their team and didn't want to be a burden. Naruto really didn't have anything to say about it, to him it was just another mission, another step to achieving his goal of Hokage.

After having time to gather their gear the team met with Tazuna at the Konohagakure gates. Waving at the Chunin that were running the entry checkpoint that day they began their journey towards Wave Country. As the team walked Naruto had a rasengan in his hand, he had it nearly perfect, Minato said that there was only one little lump, no longer a bump but still a lump left, and he groaned, "The jutsu will still work... but isn't perfect yet... that is so frustrating for me."

The platinum blond had been watching how Naruto trained that jutsu constantly, almost as if it was an obsession. He was always trying to make it so that it was perfectly round, "Naruto.. why do you focus on making that jutsu so much? Aren't there other jutsu that you should be beginning to work on as well? Since you want to be Hokage you need a larger arsenal then you have already right?"

Naruto looked at the rasengan still as he was still focusing on trying to get it perfectly round, "According to my dad. when the rasengan is perfectly round is when its full potential is reached, meaning more powerful and more uses. I can control its size, which would also increase the power that is unleashed by the jutsu as well. With so many more application to the jutsu at 100%, I want to complete it and make it perfect."

Smiling at how Naruto reminded him of a good mix between Minato and Kushina, he was smart, rational and a prodigy in his own way like Minato. On the other hand he could be outspoken, overconfident and extremely determined like Kushina. Jiraiya reached into his bag and pulled out a ball, "Here Naruto, this should help you get the shape down."

Dispelling his rasengan he caught the ball, looking at it questionably before looking up at Jiraiya, "Use your chakra in the ball to get the shape down. If you can do it without disturbing the surface of the ball then you have the shape down. If you can do that you should be able to convert that into your rasengan to have a perfectly round one like your dad and I have."

Nodding his head Naruto looked at the ball, that was until something caught his eye. He looked at a water puddle then looked up at the sky before narrowing his eyes. Jiraiya noticed that Naruto had stopped and looked back at Naruto as did the rest of his team. When Jiraiya saw what he was focusing on the older man smiled, "So he did realize it... good catch Naruto."

Looking back at the puddle the boy said nothing before he started to walk away. He glanced over his shoulder at it some more but opened his kunai holsters with a finger in each one. Naruto wanted to be able to quickly draw his kunai out in case the gut feeling that he was having turned out to be right. All of a sudden a chain appeared and Naruto drew his kunai and threw it through the gap in the links and pinned it to the tree, "I knew it."

The other two Genin didn't even realize what was happening for a moment, though it didn't take long for them to realize they were being attacked. Kiba and Ino instinctively took up defensive positions too protect Tazuna, that was their job after all. Naruto flashed to his kunai, quickly recognizing that the two shinobi were wearing Mist headbands. With one swift motion he drew back his other kunai and threw it into the one on the lefts skull.

His father had already taught him that a ninja is a weapon and has to be prepared to take a life, as well as give their life. Naruto had come to terms with that and killing didn't affect him as greatly as it would someone else his age. While the young teen didn't care for the idea of killing, but if it came down too it he would, especially to protect his teammates or loved ones.

The other rogue mist shinobi detached the chain from his claw and rushed at his team, more directly aiming for Ino. Typically the kunoichi was the weakest in the group, Naruto drew another kunai and threw it in the direction past the rushing mist shinobi. Naruto used his Flying Thunder God too flash to the kunai, catching it in the air and blocking the rogue mist shinobi claw. He ended up getting a small cut on his shoulder though as Jiraiya came over and delivered a rasengan into the mans stomach sending him flying as blood flew from his mouth and the wound.

Looking around and not seeing any other threats Jiraiya went to the one that Naruto had killed. He took the kunai out of his head as well as the kunai that Naruto had used to stop the chain out of the tree. That was when his eye caught that there was something dripping off of the claw though. After he examined it closely, he quickly realized there was poison on the tip of his claws, a effective means of paralyzing or killing a shinobi. He looked back at Naruto as Ino was wrapping his shoulder with bandages for him, "Stop wrapping his shoulder, there was poison on their claws."

Looking at Jiraiya then at the rogue mist shinobi he had killed the young teen let out a long drawn out sigh. He took out his kunai and deepened his cut, wincing in pain as he did, but making more blood come out as well as the poison. Jiraiya nodded his head as he went on to seal the bodies of the rogue mist shinobi, as he did that Naruto looked back at Ino, "Okay Ino, can you please finish wrapping my shoulder now?"

Nodding her head she continued with the process of bandaging his wound, making sure that she put a good amount of pressure in the wrap. When she finished Naruto looked at his white shirt that had been cut by the claw let out a whining sound, "Man that was my last white shirt! The others got ripped up with training."

Putting his bag in front of him he dug into it, pulling out a long sleeve black shirt made of a special fabric, muttering the whole time. The shirt was made so that in hot weather it would kept him cool and in cool weather warmed his body. Naruto looked at his last white shirt and sighed again as he tossed it into his bag before he pushed himself up off the ground so that they could continue to walk. Naruto noticed that his shoulder was already feeling better, he quickly concluded that it was from the Kyuubis healing though.

His team, as well as everyone in their age group knew he was a Jinchuriki, some of the parents looked at him differently but most treated him like a normal child. Naruto knew it was only because Minato had declared that Naruto was a hero for being the Jinchuriki of the Kyuubi, that without him everything would have been lost. He had to assume that without Minato and that declaration he would have led a life that was hard, lonely and painful.

They kept on walking and then Jiraiya yelled for them all too duck as a giant executioner blade came flying over their heads. As it slammed into the tree there was suddenly a blur as a man stood on the handle of the blade. Naruto looked up too see a man with bandages around his face was looking at them, "I want the bridge builder."

Standing up quickly Naruto put his hand in his kunai holster, preparing to fight again. That was when Jiraiya told him to stop though, "That is Zabuza Momochi, Demon of the Hidden Mist and a former ANBU for Kiri... he is out of your league Naruto."

The man, now known as Zabuza, looked at the 4 Konohagakure ninja that were in front of the bridge builder. Zabuza crouched down and put his hand on the handle of his executioner blade. Jumping down to the ground, pulling the blade out as well as he fell, he glided to his feet while never looking away. Zabuza looked at them as Jiraiya got ready for battle, "Jiraiya, the Legendary Toad Sage, I didn't know you took on another Genin team since your little prodigy became the Hokage."

Smiling as he looked at Zabuza, they had engaged in a couple of fights before throughout his travels. Mainly because Zabuza was looking to collect on the bingo book entry for Jiraiya, "Well my godson became a Genin and his father asked me to be his Team Leader, so here I am."

Zabuza looked over at Naruto easily seeing the resemblance to the Fourth Hokage, "He does look a lot like Minato... when I kill you I will kill him afterwords to piss off Minato. Then when he comes for me. I can collect a nice bonus for killing him as well."

The white haired Sannin charged in, wanting to connect with an early rasengan, but Zabuza parried the attack with his executioner blade, making the Sannin connect with the ground instead. Regardless of the redirection the force behind the jutsu was still there though, sending him skidding to the sigh. Zabuza put his blade in the ground to stop his skidding, quickly bringing his sight back up too see Jiraiya in the air with another rasengan poised to deliver. Zabuza, as a former Kiri ANBU, reacted quickly to avoid the attack making Jiraiya send waves of water into the air as he went into the water.

Not one to pass up an extremely fortunate situation Zabuza took quick advantage of the blessing that had fallen into his lap. The masked man quickly weaving through his hand signs as he pointed his hand at Jiraiya, "Water Prison Jutsu!"

Jiraiya swore as he got caught in the jutsu and looked back at his team who were looking on at the battle. Jiraiya gave a quick glance to Zabuza then focused on his team, "RUN! GET OUT OF HERE! HE WILL KILL YOU ALL WITHOUT MERCY!"

Kiba and Ino went to start backing up with Tazuna but Naruto stood still and opened his kunai holsters, "No.. I can't leave my pervert godfather to die. How will I know how not to be with women if he isn't around?"

Grabbing out 5 of his kunai from his holsters, Naruto handed one to each of his teammates, telling them to throw them if they got an opening Naruto could use to his advantage. Kiba said he was going to back him up but Naruto looked at him, "No, you two are better at sensing.. so you need to make sure no one attacks Tazuna from behind. I can get Jiraiya-sensei freed, that is the goal for me."

Turning to look at Zabuza with a determined look on his face Naruto stayed unfazed as the man started to laugh at him, "Well he definitely has his fathers determination, I will give him that. Alright then boy, since you are so eager you can die first, Water Clone Jutsu!"

The young blond teen watched as the clone appeared locking on to him just like Zabuza already was. Looking around at the surrounding environment Naruto saw he didn't have a terrain advantage here. The only real advantage he had was that Zabuza didn't know what jutsu he could use yet. The water clone started to walk towards Naruto as the young teen started to run to his right observing Zabuza as well as the water clone. Naruto suddenly jumped up into the air and threw a kunai at the water clones head. The clone caught the kunai making Naruto smile as his plan started to formulate in his mind.

Naruto put one of his kunai away, moving his hand over to his shuriken pouch. As he drew 2 shuriken out of it he applied his chakra to make the seals, though they weren't visible because of the black steel. He threw them on a arc to go around the water clone and then Naruto threw a kunai up the middle to distract the water clone. Zabuzas clone blocked the kunai up the middle with ease using the kunai that he caught earlier. The clone then turned, throwing the kunai to stop the shuriken that was approaching the real him. Naruto smiled at this, going how he had planned, that was check mate.

Naruto flashed with his Flying Thunder God Jutsu to the kunai that was thrown that was falling behind Zabuza. The teen drew his sword slashing through Zabuzas back making him drop the jutsu. As Naruto fell into the water a smirk coming across his face. Naruto had only been taught the beginnings of walking up a tree by Minato, walking on water was something that was still impossible for him.

Using his jutsu he flashed back to Ino and Kiba since they still had his kunai. Zabuza started to fall into the water then all of a sudden 2 Hunter Nin from Kiri appeared. The sudden appearance of 2 more Kiri Nin put Naruto on the defensive again. Jiraiya put up his hand to stop him though, watching the Hunter Nin with curious eyes. One of the Hunter Nin spoke up, "Thank you for defeating Zabuza Momochi, he has been giving us an issue to catch. We will take care of disposing of his body, you have our thanks.."

Nodding his head Jiraiya slowly walked back over to his team, looking over his shoulder the whole time. That was when he saw the Hunter Nin had disappeared with the body of Zabuza,"Interesting..."

After a brief stare at where the 3 Kiri ninja had been he looked over to Tazuna before they all started to walk towards the Land of Waves. Jiraiya said that they were going to have a talk when they got to the Land of Waves though. The Sannin then ruffled Narutos hair like Minato always did too get Narutos attention. The teen cast him a quick glance then started to look around again, still on edge and defensive since the fight, "You did good Naruto, you were completely stupid and reckless... but you did good."

Smiling at his godfather and sensei he started to slowly relax, as they got onto the boat then started to sail the small distance towards the Land of Waves. About 1000 yards from the shoreline they saw the last of the bridge that needed to be built. When they got to the other side they went to Tazuna's home where they all sat down around the table and Tazuna begun to explain everything.

When everyone was seated Tazuna gave a small sigh then nodded his head, "We are a poor land, everyone knows this, that is why I am building the bridge to bring in more trade. With more trade the ability to bring fund into our land with increase at a substantial rate. There are those who want to stop this though, mainly Gato and his thugs since they currently run the Land of Waves. Sure we have a Governor but since Gato controls all of our import and exporting. Because of that no one can oppose them, though we have tried to fight back a few times with no success. Anyone who does oppose him is instantly killed now and put out as an example to deter any other attempts. He hires rogue ninja, like that Zabuza guy, as well as samurai to do his bidding for him and enforce his ways. This has made it so that the bridge work is hard for us to do but we have pressed on regardless."

Taking a quick gulp of his sake the man then looked back at the Konohagakure Nin, "Now that the bridge is almost done they are getting more desperate. Due to this I went to Konohagakure to get some aid, desperate for any help to make it so that I could improve our country. When I got there though and saw the prices of the missions, I knew I would have to lie."

Letting out a sigh the old bridge builder looked at the team that was surrounding his table. Jiraiya nodded his head in understanding, "So you lied because of the fact that you can't afford the team that would be given for this mission. Typically a team of Chunin under a Jounin leadership would be given this mission and would be classified as an A or S Ranked mission. More then likely it would be a S ranked with the criminals that are involved in this particular one."

Tazuna scratched the back of his head as he looked over at Jiraiya, "Yeah... and that was a very expensive price. So I lied... are you and your team going to go back to Konohagakure since the mission is above your pay grade?"

Scoffing at the comment Jiraiya looked at his Genin Team then back at Tazuna, "My Genin are the best Genin in the village and I am a Sage, we can handle this! Right!?"

This team all nodded, except for Naruto who had drifted off to sleep until Ino elbowed him in the ribs, "Huh.. what!? Are we under attack again!?"

Naruto looked around as Ino let out a sigh while she rubbed her temples in frustration with the other blond on the team, "Naruto... you fell asleep at the end, now you don't know what we are doing."

Stretching as he let out a yawn Naruto met her sight before he finished stretching. Naruto looked over at Jiraiya and then back at Ino, "Sure I do, we are going to stay and protect Tazuna. I knew what Jiraiya-sensei would decide before the conversation began and after Tazuna stopped talking I decided it was time for a nap."

Continuing to rub her temples some more Ino let out another sigh, "I swear Naruto, the only things you like to do are eat, sleep and train."

Said man let out a small laugh as he smiled at her and then laid down again. He closed his eyes which made it so that he didn't see the tick forming on her forehead. Her eye twitching she dropped an elbow on his chest, "WAKE UP NARUTO!"

Gasping for air the boys eyes widened before he glared at his oldest friend who glared right back at him. Naruto groaned as he sat up with a pout and Ino sat there with a victorious smirk, "Girls.. I just don't understand them.. why cant I take a nap!"

ENDING AN: Since I apparently have to clarify this for everyone, Zabuza didnt beat Jiraiya in a match off of strength or jutsu. Jiraiya had an emotional reaction, which he was prone to have, and the former ANBU capitalized on it.
