A/N: Expectations not, and disappointments not ;)
"Jane Clementine Rizzoli," she called out her own name and shook her head, hands gripped firmly onto the steering wheel. "You fool nobody. You have on your good clothes, and you took time to comb out your curls. You fool nobody!" She angrily smacked at the steering wheel and of course – her palm connected with the area where the horn resided and a rather loud 'toot' (blare really) resounded around the neighbourhood.
"Now there's really no escape or delay Rizzoli, go to the front door, knock and pray hard that you can catch a glimpse of the woman but you get the bill delivered and paid for. Then you walk your sorry being back into this plumber van. Don't you dare forget your family, your place and –" she let out a frustrated yell and heck it all, she gave the horn another taste of her palm; and buried her face into her hands.
"You really, shouldn't be so riled up Rizzoli," a voice sounded by her ear.
She looked to her left and can it be?
"Barry Frost!" She yelled ecstatically as she all but launched herself right out of the tasteless van. "How are you?" She grabbed at the extended hand and shook it warmly.
"I'm good, I'm good. I'm working right now actually." Frost gave a coy smile.
"Working? You aren't in uniform and I'm so sorry Frost, I didn't make it to your graduation ceremony, I-" she stopped; she didn't make it to a ceremony that would have been hers too. If only.
"I got a promotion a while back and I'm on my first big case," Barry leaned in, "It's one of the big ones Jane, the kind we used to talk about having…" Frost gave another coy smile.
"Frost the spy – freezing the bad guys from inside?" She smiled back – feeling excited and excitement all at once.
Frost nodded and simply smiled – she understood; it was protocol after all, not to actually mention one's cover.
"I won't hold you up then Frost, do you need a ride? Where to? Just had a meet at the hidey hole I presume?" She gave him a friendly jab to his ribs. What a life of adventure Frost is having – getting to scope out targets and sniff out the network of badness right from within the system. She could have had that – now she has a life of scooping out trapped gunk and hopefully not ever having to sniff at the network of clogged matter trapped in the depths and bowels of the u-bend instead.
Frost frowned a little, and seemed to stand straighter.
She watched him – while he simply looked behind her.
"You're already here aren't you – the Doyle residence?" She whispered, and tried to look threatened.
Frost gave a curt nod and gestured for her to enter the van.
"I was actually sent out here to investigate the honking Jane, so, it needs to seem as if you're pretty frightened and I'm pretty intimidating now. The people in there weren't looking just now but - I think I just caught sight of movement." Frost spoke with his back towards the house and he flashed her a smile, as he held the van door open.
"I'm actually on official business here too Frost, but don't worry - I know the code," she gave his hand a quick subtle pat as she feigned fear and slowly backed away. "I'm here to collect payment for the plumbing service I conducted here." She spoke a little louder.
Frost merely raised an eyebrow before loudly saying, "Next time, ring the doorbell and not disturb the peace with your honking," and he took a few steps away from her and towards the house before adding, "And come on now - what do you expect? A delivery right to you? Go get it yourself." He pointed at the house before waving carelessly his hand at her, and that was her cue.
She tailed him as he walked towards the menacing building.
"Rizzoli and sons?" Frost spoke in a low whisper.
"Yeah - except that pop's sons are lazy and so his daughter has to take over the family business."
"Doyle's daughter seems to be taking over things too; woman power Jane," Frost whispered and gave a quick wink.
Doyle's daughter? She thought to herself. Is that the woman she saw? The woman she planned to hope to see again?
"I'll get someone to speak to you - wait here," Frost's voice chilled and rang with authority, but she noted his warm grin before he shut the door behind him.
And there she stood - until the roar of an engine sounded behind her. So she turned to look -
And there the woman was - walking towards her, looking like a vision.
Doyle's daughter? She thought again to herself. Worry battled with sensibilities but she remained besotted.
The woman extended her hand, and she took it; she shook it and, it was that feeling again.
Maura's her name - and she smiled back at her.
She could feel her cheeks burn slightly, as the back of her hand tingled - Maura kissed her.
A/N: Hi there, thank you - for the time =)
And yes, here comes the prattle about being busy and having finals just around the corner - well, not just around but days away! - and, apparently writing a fanfic chapter is another manner to procrastinate so...nothing excellent but - it's something. Let the whirlwind begin!~ (with a long wait first, I'm sorry)
Remember, you don't have to, but thank you - for putting up with whatever I'm writing =)
