AN: Couple people were upset at how powerful Naruto is, I mean I said he is OP (Over Powered) but is what it is. On top of that I have always believed with the massive amount of chakra he has with proper training from a young age he would be a monster from a early age.
Chapter 6: Conflicts and The First Exam!
Naruto and the rest of Team 10 continued on their missions for another month, they were given 2 real C Rank Missions as well as 3 more D Ranks taking their mission total to 13 with 10 D Ranks, 2 C Ranks and 1 A Rank. Jiraiya had informed his team that he was going to put them in the Chunin Exam and the whole team was excited, that was when they learned that the rest of the Rookie 9 were being entered as well. Word had also quickly gotten around that Naruto had killed Zabuza, he had the suspicion a certain platinum blond was to thank for that, though to be honest Naruto thought the executioner blade on his back also kind of gave that away.
Currently that biggest annoyance in Narutos life was that Sasuke had started to challenge him again. He had unlocked his sharingan due to Kakashi's tutelage, thus making him think that he would be able to beat Naruto. Unfortunately for Sasuke though, Narutos Flying Thunder God Technique was still too much for him.
That was when Sasuke decided that he would beat Naruto in a different way. If he couldn't seem to beat him, or even hurt him physically, he would do it emotionally. Team 10 was training with Jiraiya at their designated training field, Naruto had learned some new Wind Techniques, but since Jiraiya wasn't a wind user as well he learned them through scrolls. That made it so that the learning time would be larger, that was until his sensei came up with an idea to help him. Jiraiya had taught him the Shadow Clone Jutsu, teaching him about the technique and how he could memory share. Understanding what that meant was able to drastically help him with his training, making it so that could use a few to a manageable degree.
The Inuzuka boy had come far with his Inuzuka Clan style attacks, since it was more Taijutsu based Jiraiya was able to help him with that. Just by training he would get stronger, more stamina as well as increase the dexterity of his nails. As Jiraiya had expected, the Inuzuka had returned to Konohagakure with a whole new desire to train. Jiraiya even catching Kiba doing extra training with Naruto at least every few days, usually working on speed and strength training.
Lastly, there was Ino who was another one that he wasn't able to help as much as he would have liked to. She had shown promise to become a very skilled genjutsu user, something that he had never been good at. They had also learned what her first elemental chakra nature was, water. Jiraiya had let out a sigh when he saw the chakra paper get wet, he wasn't a water user, muttering to himself about how none of his brats were making jutsu training easy. He had luckily been able to find a water elemental shinobi to help her train with jutsu.
The white haired Sannin also improved the Taijutsu of Naruto and Ino. Jiraiya felt that his team was more then capable of becoming Chunin, thinking that they could become a team that breaks records. As Team 10 was leaving the training ground, Jiraiya gave them a half day since tomorrow was the beginning of the exam, but they all stopped when Sasuke was approaching. All of them having an irritated look, including Ino, since this had become a daily thing of him challenging Naruto.
They were all expecting and waiting for him to challenge Naruto again, as always, it had become a constant nuisance for the team really. To their surprise though, Sasuke was putting his plan into action and walked straight up to Ino, "Want to go on a date with me Ino?"
The other blond on the team just kept walking with his eyes closed, trying not to show any emotion from the situation but heard Ino scream out a yes. Naruto sighed as he looked up at the clouds and then disappeared with his families jutsu, reappearing in his backyard so he could train on his own. Naruto continued too look at the sky for a moment before pulling the executioner blade off of his back, "I guess she made her choice then... I truly do hope that she doesn't end up regretting it in the end..."
Kiba had seen Narutos reaction though and was worried about him. Looking over at Ino she didn't seem to notice anything other then Sasuke at the moment. Kiba looked up at his partner Akamaru who gave a yip in agreement, with that settled they went after Naruto.
When the young brown haired teen got to the Namikaze Clan Estate he could easily hear the sounds of destruction in the backyard. Kiba went through the side gate and saw Naruto training with his executioner blade. He had known Naruto long enough to know that this was how Naruto blew off steam, training constantly.
After a week of strict training by Jiraiya he could wield the blade with ease with two hands. He could start to channel his Wind attacks through the blade, though controlling the output had been a bit of a challenge for him still. Naruto was sweating and panting a little, he could only release 5 bursts of Wind through the sword before he got tired though. Naruto sighed as he laid on the ground and looked at the sky. He then noticed Kiba coming up to him, "Hey Naruto, you alright man?"
Said teen just looked up at his friend, Kiba and Shikamaru had known for awhile that Naruto liked Ino it seemed, even when the blond boy didn't know it himself they had been able to see it. Every time she had said something insulting about him it would affect him, but only when she would do it. He always would smile at her and be nice to her, no matter how cruel she would be too him in public.
As he continued to just look up at the Kiba the young man sighed as he sat up, "Yeah... I am fine Kiba, its not like its all that big of a surprise to me that she would say yes to him."
His brown haired friend came and sat down next to him. The two of them sat there quietly for awhile, an awkward silence settling in. Kiba really didn't know what to say to try and comfort his friend but, honestly Naruto didn't want even want to talk about it. That was when Kiba caught a scent, the scent of their other teammate. Ino came in the side gate as well, smiling at her teammates, ecstatic about what had happened. She was more specifically smiling at her oldest friend, "Naruto can you believe it, he asked me out! Sasuke actually asked me out over everyone else!"
It took him a second but eventually Naruto looked up at her, giving her the best smile he could muster at that moment. Kiba could see that it hurt him that she was so happy to be going on a date with Sasuke, he also knew that he would keep the pain to himself. Narutos eyes screamed what he was feeling though, if Ino just took the time to pay attention she would see it too. Since she didn't he just put on his best fake smile for her, "Yeah, congratulations Ino... just please be careful around him, Sasuke isn't someone who I think is trustworthy."
Scoffing at the comment Ino gave him an upset glare, "Look Naruto, I know you two don't get along, but if Sasuke and I are together you need to be nicer to him or I won't be hanging around you as much."
Said teen just started to look straight ahead of him, not able to meet her eyes anymore after that. Kiba watched as his expression got more depressed, wanting to say something to his female teammate but knowing that Naruto wouldn't approve. Naruto on the other hand couldn't believe they were already the ultimatum, be nice to someone who doesn't deserve it or lose her, "Yeah... I'll try Ino, I'm sorry."
He then disappeared with his technique, Kiba sighed as he looked over at Ino who was still smiling happily. Now she had turned her attention over to him since Naruto had left, "Can you believe it Kiba!?"
The brown haired teen stood up, he wasn't going to be as nice as Naruto was to her, especially since Naruto wasn't here to protect her anymore, "I hope you are truly happy since you are destroying someone else in the process Ino."
The puppy on his head gave a yip of approval then Kiba and Akumaru walked past her out the gate. She turned to look at Kiba before her gaze went back too where Naruto was sitting just moment ago, "He said that I should be with Sasuke if it would make me happy though... I will talk to him at the monthly dinner tonight. Yeah... tonight we will get this all straightened out!"
Naruto and Minato arrived at the Yamanaka Clan Estate at 6, they knocked then within a few moments Ino answered the door with a smile. She greeted them as they came in, it was now kind of weird to see Naruto without his ninja gear for her. He was currently in his civilian clothes, wearing blue jeans and a black shirt without his headband on.
The young blond boy had been quiet since he returned from training, something that Minato was a little worried about since it wasn't like him. He looked at Ino when Naruto was out of ear shot he whispered to the young girl, "Ino, do you know if something is wrong with Naruto? He has been really quiet all day."
She did know but she believed that it was for her and Naruto to work out, "No Mr. Namikaze, but I will talk to him to try and find out for you, okay?"
Giving an appreciative nod Minato went in by Inoichi and Ann, going to talk about whatever it was that they always talked about. Ino on the other hand went into the living room where the other blond teen had gone. She found Naruto sitting on the couch in the living room just staring off into space, his head resting on his hand. Ino sat down next to him on the couch, making it so he snapped out of it, "Naruto... I thought you said I should be with Sasuke if it would make me happy... that you weren't going to compete for my affections with him?"
Nodding his head at her as he looked at her he sighed before he looked forward again, "I did say that, aren't you happy now that you are with Sasuke?"
She looked at Naruto, she thought back to what Kiba said, "Kiba said that my being with Sasuke is going to destroy you.."
Shaking his head no, while making a mental note to deal with a certain mutt, Naruto looked back over at her, "I told you to be happy and I meant that, if Sasuke is what will make you happy then that is what I want for you Ino."
Said platinum blond noticed that he was avoiding her question though, something that was typically a bad sign when it came to Naruto, "Are you going to answer my question or not Naruto?"
Looking over at her, then giving her his best fake smile. Looking into his eyes though, she could clearly see the emotions there and that betrayed all of his words, "I am fine Ino."
After knowing Naruto all this time she knew his eyes were the key to any answer that he gave. His eyes said that he wasn't okay with it, that he hated it, that he hated that she was with Sasuke. Naruto looked back ahead of him, that was when Ino let out a sigh, "Naruto... I am sorry that it is going to hurt you but I am going to be with Sasuke."
Naruto just kept looking ahead and then closed his eyes and smiled at her comment, "I know that you are Ino, I am happy for you."
Giving her oldest friend a quick hug, she got up to go and help Ann set the table for dinner. When she was gone Naruto slowly opened his eyes back up while his smile faded, continuing to just sit there looking forward,"You were expecting her to be with Sasuke, stop focusing on it and think about your exams tomorrow... you need to continue down your path to become the Hokage. Just think about that, don't get to focused on your heart."
The dinner was dominated by talk of the upcoming Chunin exams and how they thought their kids would do. Naturally both of the fathers thought their kid would do great, expecting them to easily become Chunin. When it came time for Minato and Naruto to leave Ino said her goodbyes and then the two blond men disappeared with their Flying Thunder God Jutsu going back home. Ino went upstairs in order too sit on her bed, she found herself actually a little irritated with Naruto, "He managed to make me feel bad for being happy with Sasuke... jerk."
Naruto, Ino and Kiba all met up at the exam building the next morning. As a team they all walked in, people going out of their way to introduce themselves to Naruto. He met some interesting people such as Rock Lee, Neji Hyuga and Gaara before arriving at the double doors that led to the first exam room. All of the Genin were a bit surprised when they saw that Jiraiya was there, "Good you all showed up, had one of you not then you wouldn't been allowed to take the test. Good luck, I know that you 3 will do an exceptional job in the exam, I will see you all when you make it through Stage 2."
Team 10 nodded at their sensei, then turned their attention forward as Naruto and Kiba pushed open the doors. They saw all of the people that were there already, many of them looking older and much more battle hardened then they were. Naruto looked at them all, feeling out with his chakra for any immediate threats, then they were joined by the other members of the Rookie 9.
As he came over Sasuke instantly grabbed Inos hand, a blatant attempt to try to get under Narutos skin. After watching them Naruto just went and sat down, not speaking to anyone, choosing to instead focus on his task at hand. Shikamaru looked over at Kiba who was shaking his head with a sigh at Narutos behavior. Both of Narutos male best friends could see that he was isolating himself from his friends, as well as his teammates, to avoid an outburst of anger and emotion.
The smirk on Sasukes face was easily picked up on by Shikamaru. The black haired Nara saw the smirk come on his face as soon as Naruto walked away as well. Easily realizing what Sasuke was doing now and since Naruto was his friend, he wouldn't stand for that. He and Naruto had been friends since they were six years old, the same with Kiba, he would do whatever was in his power for his blond haired friend, "So Sasuke... are you using Ino to fuck with Naruto emotionally since you can't beat him any other way?"
Looking over at Shikamaru with a confused look, Ino then turned her attention over to Sasuke who had a small smirk still, "I wouldn't do something like that, I genuinely care for Ino."
The girl in question looked back at Shikamaru who didn't believe him, "Okay lets ask you 3 very simple questions about Ino that everyone, at least those who know her at least a little, knows the answer to? If you care about her like you say you do, which I find to be highly unlikely since you've always complained about her fan girl behavior, then you should know the answers. Question 1: What is her last name? Question 2: What is her favorite thing other then being a kunoichi? The question 3: What is her second favorite color?"
Everyone knew all the answers, even people who didn't know Ino all that well knew the answers to some of those questions, but Sasuke just glared at Shikamaru, "I don't have to prove anything to you Shikamaru."
Ino looked at Sasuke, sensing his tension, then pulled her hand away from him, "Prove it to me then Sasuke, answer the questions."
Looking at her with a scoff Sasuke just rolled his eyes at her, "I don't have to prove anything to you either, you should just be happy that I am dating you."
Staring at him in shock, Ino shot a look over at Shikamaru who looked right back at her. That was when Kiba spoke up, adding onto the issues of course, "Such a great prize for destroying him right?"
She quickly shot her gaze over to Naruto who was staring forward at the board. The pain and regret swelling inside of her she went to talk to him but the first proctor entered, "SIT DOWN! THE CHUNIN EXAMS ARE STARTING!"
Ino sat two rows behind Naruto while Kiba sat one row in front of him. All three of them feeling confident as Ibiki explained the test to them all while the proctors handed out the tests. Kiba was able to gather his intelligence using Akamaru and Naruto knew a lot of the answers to the questions. Ino looked at the test, knowing a couple of the answers but was distracted by the loud tapping of a pencil near her. Looking around she saw Sakura going to town with her pencil making the Yamanaka heiress smirk. She did some hand signs then pointed her hands at Sakura, entering into her mind. She got the answers, memorizing them quickly, then released the jutsu. After she returned to her own mind she got the answers down on the test with a large smile on her face.
The team passed the first test with ease, though they all expected that they wouldn't have to much of an issue. That was when suddenly the next exams proctor came through the window. Naruto sighed, knowing who it was, then they were off to the Forest of Death. When everyone was finally gathered Naruto looked around at the training ground and smiled, this was where he would be able to enjoy himself a bit. Naruto hadn't said anything still though, something that was making it so that Ino was worrying about more and more, "Naruto..."
Said teen stopped walking, looking back over his shoulder at her as she caught up to him. They both stood there looking at each other for a moment, "I'm sorry... I am sorry that I didn't listen to you about Sasuke. You were right, he was only dating me to try and screw with you emotionally. Something that it looks like was working with how you've been since he asked me out."
Reaching for Narutos hand, Ino was a bit surprised when he pulled it away from her. She looked up at him to meet his eyes as he looked at her, "You made your choice Ino, I won't be your rebound."
With that he turned too keep walking as Ino followed after him staying quiet, Sasuke had managed to hurt Naruto, not just that but she had hurt Naruto because of it too. All of that combined making it so that Naruto wasn't the same Naruto that he used to be right now. Kiba came up next to her and spoke, "I guess you should have considered what dating Sasuke would have really entailed before just blindly screaming out a yes and accepting huh?"
The blond teen boy looked back at Kiba with a glare then saw the hurt look on Inos face. Letting out an internal groan and sighed. After everything, everything that he felt over the last just 24 hours because of her, here he was coming to her defense yet again, "Kiba! Enough with that, we all need to focus on the second exam."
Kiba looked ahead at Naruto, seeing the look in the blonds eyes he shook his head then nodded in agreement with his blond haired team leader. Kiba then walked up next to Naruto as Ino followed behind them quietly. She couldn't blame Kiba for what he said, Naruto had warned her... Kiba had warned her... she still choose Sasuke over Naruto. How could she have been so blind to pick Sasuke over the person who should have been the obvious choice?
Ino looked over at Naruto again, he was staring at the Forest of Death waiting for the second exam. She just looked at him, he looked different... nothing like the Naruto she knows. He seemed cold, focused and more than a bit upset. Naruto shifted his eyes over to Team 7, more directly at Sasuke, as his usually blue eyes briefly turned a bright red, "I will hurt you for what you have done Uchiha... she was someone you shouldn't have tried to use too hurt me."
