Venus de Milo. A famous statue whose replica stood in the courtyard of the prestigious acting school, overlooking the activities of its students whether it be as mundane as eating lunch to prepare for the grand showcase of talent in the name of "Starlight". She was something no one could miss as she stood tall and mighty above the grounds for everyone to see.
11th November. Pocky day as they call it. An important(sort of?) day for couples. A time where love thrived at its best at that time of the year. A perfect situation for the roman goddess of love to be interested in the affairs of mere mortals.
If Hikari wished to be anything she wanted she would be a jellyfish. All she would need to do was float in the sea and mind her own business that involved no feelings and no talking. Maybe include the stinging of others here and there if she felt like it.
Yet here she was, fumbling with her words even though she could effortlessly roll them out of her mouth when in the shoes of a character in a play. Funnily enough, she felt like those girls from those shoujo manga Karen would read every now and then.
'Damn you Kagura Hikari…' she thought to herself as the words coming from her mouth failed her. This was supposed to be smooth and steady! Not like this!
She was an actress. Speaking and expressing feelings should be second nature. She was training to be at one of the finest schools for the art in Japan and studied at one of the most prestigious schools in the world of acting. Yet…
Why was it so hard when it came to expressing what she wanted?
Give her a role and ask her to act it out she'd do it flawlessly, irrespective of what role it was. It didn't matter how hard it was, she'd make sure she'd nail it. She was a stage girl after all. Acting out romantic scenes wasn't new to her. She could pull off dramatic confessions of love and if required kiss her co-star(although most were staged).
So it would only make sense that she should be able to do it when it came to her own feelings, right?
Well, she was mistaken.
In front of her was the girl of her dreams, staring at her, mouth agape. A prominent blush creeped up Hikari's cheek and she turned her gaze away from the other girl, hiding her face behind the small box in her hand. She wasn't one to show her feelings when it came to personal matters but in this situation it was impossible for her to conceal them.
All she had asked was if Mahiru wanted to play the pocky game(also this was redemption for what happened the previous year when they tried to play the pocky game)...
Alright she may have been a bit impulsive by dragging her clueless girlfriend to the statue of Venus de Milo that stood in the middle of the courtyard(it was empty at the time) as soon as their extra practice session was over. She must have scared Mahiru, that is until Hshe thought that it was a brilliant idea(look, she didn't know how to phrase wanting to try playing the pocky game at the time) to kiss her girlfriend by the statue.
As expected Mahiru was flustered by the sudden shower of affection. It was cute how she was so easy to embarrass. Although her mood changed to one of annoyance once she managed to snap out of her shock and embarrassment. It was expected as the daughter of a farmer was not a fan of PDA.
After a small apology, Hikari explained what was in her mind by a simple gesture. She pulled out the pocky box.
The dorms were way way way too chaotic for them to try it out in peace. The shed where section B kept some of their old props in was locked(due to an incident that involved 2 horny teenagers and uncontrollable hormones). Two liable options that were in her mind thrown into the trash. That left…
Venus de Milo.
The goddess of romance herself.
What better place to do this than there.
So, she explained what she thought in the most Hikari like manner. What that meant was awkward.
What Hikari expected was a protest. What she expected was Mahiru trying to tell that this idea was outrageous and take her back to the dorms where hopefully they wouldn't be interrupted.
Instead she received a face of shock. For what her shock was, the girl with the pocky could only assume it to be because of her honest declaration of what she felt and talking more than just three words at a time.
A light airy laugh made Hikari peep from behind her shelter. The girl who owned heart was laughing, a hand over her mouth in a vain attempt to suppress those giggles, her small pigtails jumping in amusement while a blush painted her tanned features. Hikari simply gave her a pointed look.
"Hikari chan is so cute!" Mahiru said between giggles. Hikari deadpanned, moving the box of pockys away from her face. "Even when you pout." she added, pulling Hikari into an embrace.
"I'm not pouting..." Hikari mumbled, pulling Mahiru closer. She could feel the girl in her arms rumble, giggling at her weak retort. 'Fresh grass…' she commented, keeping the thought to herself, before taking a deep breath to inhale more of Mahiru's scent.
Mahiru never really teased her much but when it did it always ended with them in each other's arms. Hikari would never admit it aloud but she loved it when Mahiru teased her. And hugging Mahiru was the best thing in the world(well, maybe second to Mr. White's hugs)
"So... will you?" Hikari asked, once Mahiru calmed down. The pig tailed girl pulled away from their hug, their hands intertwined with each other. She could see Mahiru's reluctance. "You don't have to." Hikari then quickly added.
Her girlfriend shook her head, smiling. "No no, it's fine." to further iterate her point Mahiru took the box from Hikari's hand opening the box. She pulled out a pocky stick placing it in her mouth, nodding her head slightly as a quiet signal for Hikari to continue.
All of a sudden, Hikari felt her brain short circuit. The one brain cell that lived in her head decided to faint at the sight, leaving the rest of her body to handle the cuteness of her girlfriend. She opened and closed her mouth, like a fish before steeling herself with a deep breath.
She could do this. It was her idea after all.
With each nibble, Hikari closed the distance between them. Mahiru seemed to have closed her eyes, waiting for the big moment. Her embarrassment grew exponentially with each nibble, even if she had kissed Mahiru plenty of times before. Mahiru may have noticed Hikari's hesitance as her calloused hand gave her hand a squeeze. With renewed confidence, her nibbled forward to her goal.
And did she reach her goal indeed. Their lips brushed against each other, sending a wave of electricity down her spine. A simple gesture enough to make Hikari want to press her lips harder against the Midday Sun and feel her better against her own skin.
And so she did.
It wasn't too long that they broke the kiss, resting in each other's warmth. "Hikari chan."
"Hmm?"
"We could have gone to the library instead."
"Oh."
Hikari completely forgot about that. It was more secluded too…
Ah, she was an idiot…
It was as if Mahiru heard Hikari scold herself mentallly as whispered, "It's fine Hikari chan. I liked this too."
A small smile rested on the Light's face.
And so, the sun began to set on the horizon. The statue of Venus de Milo looked upon the school and the students, watching the events that took place within the confines of the Seisho. She was the goddess of romance, and with romance blooming in front of her glossed, marble eyes she couldn't ask for anything better to end the day.
