Chapter 1
Kurt continued to shove his books into his locker while Noah Puckerman was rambling on about his latest, as he put it, "wild shindig" which involved him getting drunk out of his mind and accidentally trying to break into Breadstix at three in the morning. Classic.
Kurt nodded and put on a smile, pretending to listen to Puck. It was Kurt's second day of his senior year, and he was already counting down the days until graduation. Ever since he was younger, he knew what he wanted to do. Get out of the most boring fucking state in the country and head to New York to achieve his dreams of stardom. Besides his family whom he obviously loved dearly, there was nothing in Lima for Kurt anymore. At least he thought so.
About 8 lockers down, Kurt saw, arguably the most gorgeous boy he had ever seen, struggling. He had two textbooks, both tucked under his arms, and was fumbling with the lock on his locker. Kurt watched the boys' hands, delicate and beautiful, and he began imagining what it would be like to hold his hands, to feel them against his skin, they just had to be so soft and welcoming. He had thick dark hair, glued down by far too much hair gel, but Kurt saw hints of curls desperately trying to peak out. Kurt wondered if he would ever be able to run his fingers through the curls and just…
No. Stop. Kurt knew he needed to stop, hell, he didn't even know anything about the kid. If anybody could read his mind right now, they would think he was a fucking creep. Kurt must've let his eyes linger for too long, because soon Puck was standing in front of him.
"Dude. Stop gaying out." Puck said, smirking.
Kurt scoffed, "What? Fuck off Puck," Kurt rolled his eyes at himself for how obvious he was making himself. "Who is he?"
"New kid. I ran into him yesterday, you know I love me some fresh meat. I may or may not have accidentally scared the living shit out of him by threatening to slushee him and make his life a living hell if he ever crossed my path. Oops."
"Noah! What the fuck! I thought you were done being an immature neanderthal. Poor boy…." Kurt looked around Puck and watched as the boy slowly closed his locker and looked around nervously, like a skittish puppy dog, and for some reason, Kurt wanted to take him in his arms and hold him forever.
Stop. This is creepy. You don't even know the guy.
Still… doesn't mean he can't go up to him.
For completely innocent reasons of course, he just maybe wanted to invite him to audition for glee club. Who knows? Maybe he's a good singer, and glee club was in desperate need of new members. Nationals were in Chicago this year. Not as cool as New York, but still, Kurt loved any big city. Plus, auditions were coming up on Friday so Kurt better approach him now… just so he could let him know. That was the only reason that he wanted to talk to him, of course.
"I'll see you later", Kurt told Puck, eyes still glued on the boy as he walked towards him.
As Kurt got closer, he thanked God, or, since he was an Athiest, whoever the fuck controlled the world that he had gained an absurd amount of confidence since his freshman year. Even last year, Kurt would never be able to just walk up to somebody he found so incredibly attractive. Kurt was also grateful that he had finally hit puberty, because he appreciated the obvious height difference between him and the mystery boy.
"Hi" Kurt smiled and extended his hand, "I'm Kurt Hummel."
The boy looked up at him, and Kurt felt chills running down his spine, simply just from looking this boy in the eyes. His eyes were incredible. A swirl of silky caramel and green, his hazel eyes seemed to be shining. There was nothing more beautiful in the world, Kurt thought to himself. He knew it was probably weird and obsessive and he shouldn't even be thinking about the boy like this, but Kurt wouldn't mind getting lost in those eyes forever and ever.
"Eyes", the other boy blurted out, ignoring the fact that Kurt's hand was begging to be touched by the other boy.
"Um. What?"
Was this kid a fucking mind reader or something?
"I mean- I- Hi- Um,"
The boy looked at the ground and continued, "You have pretty- I mean not- I mean just- um- I like your eyes" he finally managed to spit out, his face beginning to flush red.
Huh. How ironic.
"Oh! Um- thank you." Kurt smiled. He would easily compliment the boy back, but he didn't want to freak him out. He reminded himself of what happened with Finn, his now step-brother, way back in the day. Gross. And what if this new kid wasn't gay? Not that Kurt was wondering if he was gay. Not that Kurt was possibly attracted to him, like a lot, or anything. No, nope, no way.
The boy shifted awkwardly, he was staring at the ground and holding himself in his arms. Kurt could tell he was shy and immediately took pity upon him, even though he really shouldn't have. It's just some guy, so what? Why did Kurt suddenly feel the need to care for him?
"And you are?" Kurt questioned, realizing the boy never said what his name was.
"Oh! Blaine- Blaine Anderson"
"Anderson. I like it"
"Oh. You can just call me Blaine."
Kurt stifled a giggle, he was enjoying this. "Whatever you say, Anderson…"
Blaine looked up and Kurt thought Blaine was about to smile, and he was ready to see how beautiful it was, until Blaine looked past Kurt and his eyes widened and Kurt could see Blaine slightly trembling.
Kurt turned around to see Puck heading towards them.
Walking past, Puck gave Kurt a side hug and before Kurt could tell him to shut up, Puck blurted out "Stop ogling over each other and get to class. See you later Kurt" and continued on his way.
"I should go to class" Blaine whispered, eyes red rimmed, as he turned around from Kurt.
"Hey! Wait, what's wrong?" Kurt grabbed Blaine's arm and turned him back around. Kurt's hand started tingling from the contact and he pulled away quickly, before Blaine got freaked out from the touch or anything.
"I just… can you tell your boyfriend to please not harass me?" Blaine spoke so softly, Kurt could barely hear him.
"Boy…? Oh. Puck?" Kurt started laughing, probably too hard. He couldn't help it, it happened sometimes when he was nervous. Speaking to Blaine made him nervous, which was strange. He could easily talk back to any of his idiotic bullies and yeah, he would feel some nerves, but nothing like talking to this beautiful little puppy.
Stop, Kurt. Creepy.
"I don't think asking for somebody to treat me like a normal human being is a laughing matter" Blaine bluntly stated.
"Loosen up sweetie", Kurt mocked. Blaine blushed a bit and looked back to the ground, making Kurt immediately feel bad. Shit. Why did he just call Blaine sweetie? And why does he always turn into such a bitch when trying to flirt? Not that he was trying to flirt or anything. He didn't want to freak him out. Why isn't his brain working properly right now?
"He's just my friend, who happens to be dating my other friend Lauren. Don't worry Anderson. I'm not taken, especially not by him. I have MUCH better taste in men." Kurt said, clearly seeing how Blaine let out a breath and the corner of his mouth slightly turned up.
"We're in glee club together, so yeah, I'll tell him to leave you alone" Kurt sighed. "He seems
intimidating, but I swear he's a softie at heart. He doesn't mean any harm"
"Oh. Well I should get to class, if I can find it"
"Here, let me see your schedule"
Blaine pulled the neatly folded, crisp blue paper from his back pocket, which caused Kurt to notice the boy's particularly interesting fashion taste. Usually, style is the first thing that Kurt notices about a person, but Blaine's beauty must have distracted him. Strange.
Simple blue jeans, cuffed at the ankle, with a tucked in red polo shirt. A little simple for Kurt's taste, but he still outdid half of the boys at Mckinley who seemed to only own like, two flannel jackets. Yuck.
Kurt glanced at the schedule. AP Calc, AP Chemistry, AP Literature, AP Psychology, AP US History, and AP Spanish.
"God damn, are you fucking Einstein or something?" Kurt quipped, emitting a small chuckle from Blaine. He still didn't fully smile, but it was okay. Kurt would make him smile, eventually.
"I mean when I first wake up, my hair is pretty similar to Einsteins" Blaine let out.
Kurt laughed, mostly out of pity for the awful joke, but he was interestingly glad to see that Blaine seemed to be getting more comfortable with him, even if it was barely an effort.
"Well Mr. Einstein, it seems as though the only class we have together is AP Lit, which luckily
is next hour. Too bad I'm not a genius like you, or we would've had more classes together."
Blaine smiled, but without his teeth. Damnit, so close.
"I'm really not that smart. Like I can guarantee that you're smarter than me. And probably way more talented, since you mentioned you're in glee club. I bet you have a nice voice"
"Thanks babe."
Fuck.
Why did he just say that?
What if Blaine takes it the wrong way?
He couldn't help it, Kurt enjoyed the fact that he could make somebody as perfect as Blaine blush with just a simple pet name.
"But...Anderson, don't talk yourself down like that. Also, this is the second day of school. Why didn't I see you in class yesterday? I definitely would have noticed somebody as… intriguing as you" Kurt said, careful of his word choice. He almost called Blaine gorgeous, and yeah, he was flirting a little, but he didn't want to come on too strong quite yet.
He was just having fun.
"Oh. Um. The dude with the mohawk kinda terrified me. And I may or may not have spent the entirety of my school day hiding in the bathroom stalls"
"What the fuck did you do all day?"
"Um…Well I… Uh-"
"What? Did you jerk off or something?"
"No! What? God! Um... " Red overtook Blaine's face and Kurt had to force himself not to laugh.
"Why are you acting all weird then? What did you do?"
"I just tried to keep myself busy. I was just having a bad first day and I convinced myself that I wouldn't make any friends here and that I should just leave because everybody already hates me here." Blaine let out a humorless laugh, "Sorry, I just overshared like way too much"
That was the most that Blaine had said to Kurt so far, and it was all self deprecating. Kurt, again, fought off the urge to take the boy in his arms and just hold him.
Kurt softly punched his shoulder, "Okay Anderson. Let me walk you to class. Now that you and I are friends, I'm going to convince you to audition for glee club and I promise you, your senior year will be absolutely incredible"
"Okay Hummel," Blaine said and smiled, finally smiled, a true and absolutely breathtaking sight for Kurt.
This was going to be an interesting year, to say the least.
If you actually read that... THANK YOU! let me know what you think... it'll get better I swear ;)
