Hello everyone! Sorry I've taken so long to upload anything or even finish the story. Almost there though! I know it's short...
Amanda felt as if she were breathing through a straw. She struggled for air and the deeper she breathed, the more her body ached.
She had never felt so much pain in her life.
She could feel her insides burning, every breath a struggle.
She slowly opened her eyes.
She was somehow on the floor, it was cold, metallic. She was in a room with gray walls with large crates around her. It was like she was in one of the storage rooms of the Ship.
She squinted at the fuzzy letters on the crates. "Concord."
Concord? She wasn't on the Concord, she was on –
She stopped, Lario's voice echoing in her head. "You're being transported."
Struggling, she propped herself up from the floor onto her elbow. That small movement was painful.
Why was she in so much pain?
She tried not to think about it and looked around the room.
She recognized the boxes. She had seen them before her family had left on the Concord. The largest, skinniest box was a Vulcan statue, the smaller wooden box next to it held a chest.
And she suddenly realized it, she was on the Concord. She had been transported to the USS Concord. But how? And why her? She was on the same ship as her family.
She looked to the turbo doors in her line of sight. A small plaque reassured her of where she was.
Storage Room IZ-98. USS Concord.
She wrapped her arms around herself. She was cold, achy, and in more pain than she could ever imagine.
She touched the back of her neck, it felt as if she had been burned. Her chain, a usual sign of comfort, bothered her. She pulled it over her head, the gold singing her fingers and hand.
That was when she saw it. Her necklace was glowing. But since when did gold glow an unnatural purple?
She looked at the pendant, it looked like the pendant was the one radiating the most power, the chain absorbing some of it. She didn't dare touch it.
A noise broke her trance, it was coming from the turbo doors.
Carefully, trying to move as painlessly as possible, she crawled to the nearest box, out of sight, her heart in her throat.
She heard them open and two different distinct footsteps. At least, that's what she counted.
Two men. She realized when they begin to speak.
"So it's in here?"
She froze.
"Not sure," the other answered.
They spoke in a much deeper, more guttural way than most men. "Just search."
Amanda could feel the blood rushing through her body as she sprang into action. She moved quickly to a vent close to her and pried it open with her fingernails. Quietly, she slithered in, putting the necklace in her pocket. She put the vent back into place and waited quietly.
She whimpered quietly, how could she be in so much pain? Every movement, every breath she took she felt as if her insides were tearing apart.
A minute later she saw large boots. "I don't see anything," the man said. "Isn't it supposed to be rigged to give off it's location?"
"That's what I was told." A sigh. "Let's check the other room."
As soon as she heard them leave she let out a painful gasp and fell out of her hiding place.
She felt so hot like she was running a fever.
She took a deep breath to calm herself. She had never been so scared in her life, who were those men? Why was she on the Concord?
Even more frightening, how could she get back?
After calming herself, she managed to stand, and carefully make her way to the turbo doors. After convincing herself that no one would come back, she looked at the small screen next to the door.
The ship's map, manifest, coordinates were in the central computer of the ship which was accessible from the screen.
She typed her family's name and the computer showed her exactly where they were. The ship's front quarters AA-34. How could she make it there?
The turbo doors next to her opened suddenly. She stepped back and stared at the phaser pointed at her.
I know my writing has taken a dive in the last couple of years, trying to practice again (that's why i write this particular story). Please review!
