Chapter 5
Kurt let Blaine lead him into his house, and the first thing that Kurt noticed, directly in front of him, was a shattered vase with flowers directly next to it. Kurt gave Blaine a confused look and the boy immediately started laughing, making Kurt smile right back.
"What happened here Anderson?"
Blaine kept laughing and Kurt just stared at him, waiting for an explanation. Blaine's face was flushed red when he responded, "Um- when you got here this morning I kinda ran down the stairs and forgot about the table, then I ran right into it and then I decided I was just gonna clean it up later"
"Oh my god Anderson, you're so dorky!"
Blaine laughed again, "I think I got a bruise from it"
"Blaine! Where? Are you alright?"
Blaine kept laughing and Kurt found it absolutely adorable, "I'm fine! Just right above my knee I think? I don't know, I haven't even looked to see if a bruise is there yet"
Kurt got an idea that he knew would probably lead to trouble, but he couldn't help himself.
"Go change out of your jeans and into some shorts or something and let me take a look at it"
Blaine's eyes widened, "Kurt!"
"What? I took anatomy last year! I mean, I spent half of the class online shopping instead, but I know a thing or two. I'm assuming you have something in your freezer we could use to ice your leg?"
"Um-I-um- yeah. I think there's an ice pack in there"
"Alright. Well how about you give me a house tour first and then we can ice your bruise"
Blaine cleared his throat, "Yeah! I'm a terrible host, I'm so sorry. Here let me show you around"
"Stop apologizing for everything Anderson"
"I'm s- Uh, okay"
Kurt let Blaine show him the living room and the kitchen downstairs. Downstairs was pretty small, but Kurt wasn't complaining. Plus, Blaine said it was just his mom and him, so really, the house was probably too big for just the two of them. As Blaine began leading Kurt up the stairs, Kurt started wondering to himself what Blaine's mom was like. Was she sweet and shy like him? Or was she completely the opposite? And what had happened with Blaine's dad? Before Kurt could think about it anymore, Blaine said, "Oh and here's my bedroom"
Blaine held the door open and waved Kurt forward, allowing him to walk in first. Blaine's room, although a little bit small, was decorated extremely nicely and it truly did look like… well, Blaine.
The queen sized bed was on the far wall, right next to a window. In front of his bed was a desk, a bit unorganized, as papers just seemed to be randomly set on top of it with pens and pencils laying astray, instead of in the cup that looked like it was supposed to be used as a pencil holder. To the right of the bed was a little keyboard, and even farther to the right was a sliding closet door. Hanging over his bed was a tapestry with the entire periodic table on it and Kurt had to hold back his laughter. Blaine was a fucking nerd, there was absolutely no denying that, but Kurt found it absolutely adorable.
Blaine giggled from where he was standing in the doorway, he giggled, and looked at Kurt in the middle of the room, staring. "I know what you're thinking. I'm such a dork or whatever"
Kurt smiled, 'No! I love your room, really. It's so… you"
Blaine opened his closet and called Kurt over.
Kurt arrived at the closet and gaped. Blaine immediately busted out laughing and Kurt couldn't help but laugh as well.
Blaine had a poster of shirtless Adam Levine hidden in the back of his closet.
Kurt and Blaine laughed together for about two minutes, tears forming in Kurt's eyes and his arm gripping Blaine's arm. In all honesty, it probably really wasn't that funny, but Blaine's laugh was extremely contagious.
By the time the two caught their breath, Kurt was still holding Blaine's arm and his head was ducked down, placed on Blaine's shoulder. He lifted his head and looked down to make eye contact, where he saw Blaine's caramel eyes giving him a look that he couldn't exactly place. The two were extremely close, Blaine's back now against the closet door with Kurt directly in front of him, and Kurt could feel Blaine's breath against his neck.
"I-"
Kurt let his hand trail down to the top of Blaine's right thigh, "Is this where the bruise is?"
"This is gonna be fun" Kurt thought to himself.
Blaine's breath hitched, "Other leg"
Kurt moved his hand to the left thigh and looked down at Blaine.
"It's, um, a little lower. Like, literally right above my knee"
Kurt slowly let his hand move down while lightly pressing, until Blaine made a small sound of pain and said, "Right there- that's where the bruise is"
Kurt moved his hand back to the top of Blaine's thigh, squeezed it, and backed away.
"I'm gonna go get the ice pack. Change."
Kurt sashayed out and closed the door. Blaine locked it and immediately threw his head back against the door and started palming himself through his jeans. The close contact with Kurt and the boy demanding him to change was making his teenage-hormone-riddled mind think of things that Blaine knew he shouldn't think about right now. Blaine didn't know how he was going to survive Kurt icing his bruise. Blaine had never even held hands with another guy before, and he's terrified that just Kurt touching his leg would make come right there.
Blaine took deep breaths and forced himself to calm down. He could do this. He changed into some basketball shorts, opened the door, and, still taking deep breaths, sat on the edge of the bed waiting for Kurt to come back upstairs.
Kurt walked into the room with a blue ice pack in his hand, "Okay, ready?"
"Um, honestly you don't have to. The bruise isn't even that bad, I was being overdramatic"
"Well you don't want it to get worse, do you?"
Blaine cleared his throat, "Well no, but really, you don't have to"
"I insist," Kurt said, grinning and dropping to his knees in front of Blaine.
"Oh my god. He knows what he's doing. He has to know what he's doing, right? I'm not just dirty minded. Ohmygodohmygod. Breathe, Blaine, breathe." Blaine thought to himself.
Kurt looked up at Blaine while lifting his shorts a bit and applying the ice pack right above Blaine's left knee. Blaine winced at the contact and jumped a little.
"Sorry. Cold"
"It's okay," Kurt said, smiling.
Blaine needed something else to focus on, so he tried to change the subject.
"So we should get food, right? Do you like Chinese, we could order it?"
"Chinese is fine" Kurt purred, left hand on top of the ice pack and the right almost touching Blaine's right thigh.
Blaine felt his face turning red so he broke eye contact and instead focused on the periodic table tapestry, "I love Chinese food. Well actually, not really. I like Panda Express, but that's not even really Chinese. I like Mexican food a lot. Oh! And I'm half-Filipino, so that's cool. Filipino cuisine is honestly so good. You should try it sometime. Well you probably already have. You should try some of my moms food though, she's an excellent cook, in my opinion at least"
After a few minutes of Blaine rambling on and on about random restaurants, Kurt interrupted him.
"Anderson. Look at me."
Blaine nearly gulped and looked back towards Kurt. He knew that his face was red, he could feel himself practically on fire.
"Yeah?"
"Can I kiss it better?"
Blaine started laughing but abruptly stopped after realizing that Kurt was serious.
"Um, if you want"
Kurt took the ice pack off and set it on the bed. He lowered his head and placed his lips on top of the bruise, delicately leaving a soft kiss, keeping eye contact with Blaine the entire time. He lifted his head, still looking at Blaine, while simultaneously slipping his hands a little bit under Blaine's shorts and on his upper thigh, until Kurt froze because he could feel horizontal scars that felt somewhat new on Blaine's leg.
"Blaine is that..."
Blaine jumped up immediately and started speed walking out of the room, "I have to go to the bathroom"
Blaine rushed to the bathroom and closed the door. First, he had to calm himself down because seeing Kurt on his knees and feeling Kurt's hand on his thigh was probably the most amazing thing ever. And then he silently berated himself for letting himself get lost in the moment and forgetting about the scars, which he now had to convince Kurt to forget about.
Blaine walked back to his room, where Kurt laid on the bed, staring at the ceiling.
"Hey"
Kurt sat up, "Blaine, are you okay?"
"Why wouldn't I be?"
Kurt took a deep breath, "The cuts..."
"No! It was, um, my cat"
"You have a cat?"
"Yes... her name is...," Blaine looked at the periodic table on his wall, "...Helium?"
Kurt stood up and walked towards Blaine, grabbing the boys face with both of his hands.
"Don't lie to me Anderson"
Blaine tried to turn away but Kurt's grip wasn't loose.
"I really don't want to talk about it Kurt. I swear, I'll tell you everything someday, but not now. I don't want to ruin our friendship already"
"It wouldn't ruin our friendship at all. Blaine, if you're hurting yourself, I need to know. As your friend, I care about you and I need to know if you need help"
"Please, Kurt. Believe me, I don't hurt myself"
Kurt gave Blaine a pleading look so Blaine continued, "Anymore"
Kurt took a deep breath, "Do we need to talk to an adult? Your mom?"
"No! Kurt, she already knows anyways. It's a whole long story which I WILL tell you someday, but not now, just trust me, I'm fine. Can we please forget about this?"
Kurt knew, deep down, that he should've pressed Blaine further, but he was scared of pushing the boy away. Kurt settled on just pulling Blaine into a hug.
Blaine relaxed into Kurt's embrace for a good ten seconds until Kurt pulled away, "Let's go order some food and you can help me with math, alright?" Blaine smiled, "Sounds good"
The boys headed into the living room, where they spent the rest of the time eating Chinese food, talking, and laughing way too much, despite what happened earlier. Not much math was actually done, because it only took Kurt about 20 minutes to understand what Blaine was teaching him. Kurt kept insisting it was because Blaine was an incredible teacher and Blaine kept insisting it was just because Kurt was smart. Blaine had told Kurt that he planned on auditioning for Glee Club with Cough Syrup, and he was surprised that Kurt knew the song. Kurt applauded him for the choice and said he was excited to see him perform. They watched a little bit of TV later in the night, but Blaine honestly wasn't paying much attention to the show because Kurt insisted that Blaine rest his head on Kurt's shoulder. Kurt rested his hand on Blaine's back, softly stroking it. It was oddly domestic, but Blaine was just relishing the moment and smiling to himself.
Kurt, on the other hand, was having an internal battle with himself. What if Blaine was lying just to get Kurt to forget about it? He couldn't let Blaine keep doing this to himself, if he still was. Kurt promised himself that he would pay extra attention to Blaine and make sure to keep the boy happy by being his friend. He was going to help him adjust to McKinley. Kurt wanted Blaine to feel comfortable around him, comfortable enough to confide in him. Kurt also promised himself that he was going to give Blaine at least one hug a day, because everybody knows that hugs are a necessity to human life. Plus, aren't there studies proving that human contact makes people feel better? Maybe a little bit of it was because Kurt had a tiny crush, but he really did want to make sure Blaine was alright. He was a good guy. Kurt knew that he may have overstepped earlier with the whole icing his bruise thing, and was probably messing with Blaine's emotions too much, and he truly didn't do any of it to hurt him. Kurt really did see something special in Blaine, and he wanted to make sure Blaine was happy.
Kurt didn't leave until around 8:30 that night, and Blaine, although sad to see Kurt go, was just grateful that he got to spend so much time with him.
Blaine walked Kurt to his car, remembering to open both the front door of the house and the car door for Kurt, just because he wanted to treat him like a gentleman.
Kurt turned towards Blaine, "You do realize that you never actually cleaned up the broken vase, right?"
Blaine chuckled and looked at the ground. He had genuinely been having such a good time that he had forgotten about it.
"I'll pick it up when I go back in...my bruise feels a lot better now though, so thank you"
Kurt gave Blaine a devilish grin, "I have been told that my lips are like magic"
Blaine's eyes widened, "Oh"
Kurt couldn't hold back his laughter, and Blaine joined in with him. When they stopped, Kurt looked at him seriously.
"Anderson?"
Blaine looked up to Kurt, and Kurt noticed how his eyes were shining so brightly, even though it was dark outside.
"Yeah?"
"I really like…. Being your friend"
Oh.
For a second Blaine got his hopes up, but then again, it was a little bit of a relief. If Kurt had said that he liked Blaine, Blaine would just get worried because then eventually, Kurt would realize that Blaine was just a screw up, and he would abandon him.
Blaine just plastered on a smiled and replied, "Same"
Kurt smiled, bit his lip, and got in the car.
"See you tomorrow, Anderson"
"See you tomorrow, Hummel"
