A/N: Greetings! For those who know me already, I'm happy to announce my return to writing. For those that don't, welcome. After watching Agony of a Witch, I was hit with feelings, but also inspiration, and decided to write a fluffy little fic for a show I fell in love with from the get go. Let me know what you think, and enjoy!
"Okay, got my keys?" Luz pulled out a small key ring to inspect, confirming it held both her house key and the spare portal key Eda had given her. "Check. Got my luggage?"
A bundle sat nearby, containing the things she'd brought over from her world, and some from the demon realm, haphazardly held together with a length of rope. "Check. Got my Amity?"
The witch in question stood at her side, currently gripping her hand with a nervous smile. "Check. Are you sure about this, Luz? You said your mom wasn't exactly fond of anything magic or fantasy related. What if she doesn't approve of us?"
"Don't worry." Luz squeezed her hand. "Everything will be fine."
"But how do you know?"
"Well, for one, you're too amazing and adorable for her not to love." Luz grinned, earning a blush from her girlfriend. "Also, the only reason she doesn't like all that stuff is because she's worried about my future or whatever. But now, I have a very promising career as a witch ahead of me, so there's no excuse anymore."
Amity sighed. "Okay, if you're sure, then, I guess I'm ready."
"Awesome. Eda, you ready?" The matriarch of the Owl House was dressed in an "outfit" that reminded Luz of the time she'd tried to sell Boscha and her friends something similar, though now it had the addition of Eda's "Bad Girl Coven" t-shirt.
"I am ready to fit in with the humans." Eda said confidently, before seeing the expressions on the girls' faces. "Too flashy?"
"Yeah, probably best to go with your usual look." Luz said.
"Hmm, good point, don't wanna overdo it on the introductions. Which reminds me..." With a quick flash of light, Eda reverted to her normal attire, reaching into her hair to pull out its newly awoken occupant. "Sorry King, an actual demon might be a bit much for a first impression."
King yawned. "That's fair, wouldn't want her to faint at the sight of the king of demons, after all." He paused to pose dramatically. "In that case, I shall guard the house in your stead!"
Hooty swung himself inward. "Well good luck finding any trespassers before I take care of 'em, hoot hoot!"
"Riiiiight. Well girls, whaddya say we get to it, then, before I start to think too hard about leaving those two here alone." Luz nodded, grabbing her keys again to open the doorway to her world.
It was a reasonably short trek from the run down old house they'd exited into to Luz' own, and she'd spent most of that time answering Amity's questions about her world, and quickly correcting Eda when she tried to interject her own answers.
"So you use the remains of giant dead reptiles as fuel in metal boxes that are propelled by explosions?" Amity looked skeptical. "It still sounds like magic to me. What happens when there's no more oil?"
"Dunno, I try not to think about that." Luz said, unlocking her door and letting the other two in. "Welccome to Chateaux Noceda." This was said with a dramatic wave gesturing around her living room. "Mom, you home?"
"Mija?" A voice called from upstairs, followed shortly by Camila entering the room, looking curiously at the new faces. "Oh, who are our guests?"
"Mom, this is Eda and Amity."
Eda stepped forward first, extending a hand. "Hi; Edalyn Clawthorne. I was Luz' mentor over the Summer." Camila accepted the handshake, introducing herself in turn before turning to a nervous Amity.
"Are you alright, dear?"
Amity started suddenly at Camila's words. "Huh? Oh, yeah, I'm fine. Uh, hi, I'm Amity Noceda- Blight! My name is Amity Blight!" She laid her quickly reddening face in her hands. "I'm... Luz' girlfriend."
Luz quickly put an arm around Amity to try and comfort her. "She's okay, she's just really worried you won't like her."
"What? What reason would I have to dislike her? She seems perfectly fine, if a little anxious."
"Well, it's kind of a long story. Why don't we move to the couch so we can get started; this is gonna take a while."
Two hours later, with the help of the photos and videos Luz had taken, the three of them managed to bring Camila completely up to speed on how Luz had spent her summer, with some minor tweaks to the more dangerous things she'd done. To say she was surprised would have been an understatement. She sat for several minutes with her fingers to her temples, trying to process the information she'd been given.
"So all this time I thought you were at summer camp, you've been off training to be a witch in another dimension?" She put her hands together, taking a few deep breaths. "Okay, I'm not going to fault you for taking the opportunity to live your dream instead of going to summer camp, though I'm a little upset you just wandered through some portal without thinking it through. I have also come to realize that trying to stifle your creativity was a mistake, and I'm glad you've found such a productive outlet."
"And...?" Luz gestured to Amity with a slight tilt of her head.
"Oh, right." She turned to Amity, taking one of her hands in her own. "Don't worry, I think you and Luz are wonderful together, and I'm so happy she's found someone she can be herself around."
Amity released the breath she'd been holding. She felt Luz grab her hand, her girlfriend's beaming grin bringing a smile to her own face.
"This went pretty well." Luz said happily. "Guess there's only one thing left to do here." She looked to Eda, who returned her knowing smile, standing up and extending her hand to Camila once again.
"Ms. Noceda, how would you like a tour of the demon realm, provided by the most powerful witch on the Boiling Isles?"
"Oh..." Camila's cheeks were tinged red as she took the hand and let Eda pull her up, ending up a bit closer than she'd been intending.
Their hands stayed linked up until the suitcase made its way to the living room, and Eda held the door open for the other three, giving a polite "After you" to Camila as she filed in last, all the while planning in her head how best to show the highlights of her home to Luz' mother.
A/N: As of right now, I have no plans to continue this, but that may change if something comes to me in the future.
Also, to those wondering, my other two stories will be getting updated some time soon, so look out for that.
