Small warning, there's There's a little bit of some mature content in this chapter. They're when Morlun talks to Miles and when Miguel talks to Cosmic if you wanted to skip them. Now, let's get into it!
"Let's fight." Miles muttered.
The Inheritors suddenly split up and surrounded Miles and began to attack him. Verna sent her hounds to attack his legs while the twins used a whip to trap his body. Jennix held him still so he couldn't escape. Daemos walked over and was about to crush Miles with his hammer but was blown away by a blast of electricity from Miles. Miles then released a shockwave which blew all of the Inheritors away and knocking all but Daemos out cold.
"Get rid of the fancy light show and fight me the real way!" He shouted at Miles as he threw his hammer away. "You're nothing but a weakling without it!"
Let's see about that. Miles thought as his aura of electricity disappeared and got into a fighting stance.
Daemos ran towards Miles and was about to grab him by the head but Miles quickly jumped behind him and webbed his face and pulled him towards the ground. He quickly got up and threw a punch towards him but Miles dodged it and countered with his own punch. He threw a uppercut towards his jaw and heard a satisfying cracking before he saw Daemos fly backwards. Miles was satisfied after he saw that he was out cold and was about to walk back towards his friends who all began to get up when a blue portal suddenly appeared and disappeared revealing Morlun who looked stronger and angrier than the last time Miles saw him.
"You've gotta be kidding me, you again!?!?" Miles groaned as he saw him.
"You will never get rid of me. I am inevitable." Morlun snarled as he stepped towards Miles.
Miguel began to get up as he saw Morlun suddenly appear from a portal. Him again? Miguel groaned internally as he started to help others get up. Noir and Peni seemed to be the only ones who couldn't fight anymore. One lost her only way of fighting and the other broke his ribs. The rest seemed to be fine though. "Come on everyone, we need to help Miles." He urged everyone as they all formed up.
Miles got his electric aura back and sent a powerful shock towards the ground to knock away Morlun but it only moved him a few feet.
"The little shocks aren't going to help you now." Morlun said as he walked towards Miles.
"We'll see about that." Miles said but he knew that was most likely true. That shock took a lot of power and it barely affected Morlun but he still wouldn't give up as he released a shock wave around him. This had more effect on Morlun as it did knock him back but only for a mere second as he quickly got up and leapt towards Miles. Miles quickly jumped and tried to punch Morlun, but he quickly knocked away his arm and punched him instead. Morlun landed and began to slowly crush Miles with his foot.
"You will never be my match ever again. You are going to suffer as you beg for a quick death which I won't grant. I will then take your girlfriend and have my fun with her while you watch." Miles immediately knew what he meant and it angered him even more as he tried to get up but still couldn't due to Morlun's foot.
"I'd like to see you try." He spat as Morlun laughed.
"I'd already am, child. And I'm succeeding, greatly. Once, I'm finished with her, I will kill her in front of you, then I will slit you. Once a day, until you lose too much blood, then, I will kill you." Morlun laughed after he said this and let go of Miles. Miles quickly took advantage and got up to attack again but Morlun saw this coming and punched him, knocking him out.
Suddenly, the rest of the spiders started to attack him. He quickly got rid of most of them by releasing a shock wave of his own, but this time with fire. Only 3 spiders were strong enough to still fight. The puny boy's girlfriend, a mature spider with a large red spider on his chest, and a girl with long black hair and something covering most of her face. This is too easy. He thought as he surrounded the four of them with a ring of fire.
Gwen quickly attacked first and webbed Morlun's face and started to web his body together. Morlun burned through the webbing and snatched her. "Ahhh, of course you would be the aggressive one. However, you are also the idiot." Morlun taunted her. He raised his arms and threw away her away like she was a football.
Miguel and Silk worked together to dodge attacks and started to make progress on webbing Morlun's arms together before he grabbed Silk by the neck and started to choke her. Miguel froze in fear for a quick second before taking out his claws and clawed Morlun deeply near his eyes. He let go of Silk and tried to grab Miguel but he was too quick and was able to get two more good swipes on him then kicked Morlun away with as much force as he had, sending him flying away a little.
Silk got up and started to thank him when Morlun blasted Miguel away. Silk tried to throw a car at him but he burned through it and grabbed her. He looked at her intensely and started to burn her and crush her. She screamed loudly as the heat quickly burned her skin. Just before she would be crushed to death, Miguel quickly swung over and sliced the arm he was grabbing Silk with. He was able to get a vein on his arm and Morlun dropped Silk as he hissed in pain as his arm bled freely.
Morlun stopped attacking and stared at Miguel.
"You are quite the fighter. I'm afraid this is not a proper way to kill you. I will deal with you soon but I will return. You cannot avoid me. I am inevitable." Morlun walked away and picked up Miles and disappeared.
Miguel looked back at Silk and saw that she was out cold. For some reason, he felt his heart break while looking at her like this but he didn't know why. Why do I feel like this? Miguel thought but he quickly dismissed the thought as he told Lyla to get the injury room ready for two people.
The rest of the spiders gathered around him, all exhausted after the fight. Gwen ran towards them. "Where's Miles?" She demanded. Miguel took off his mask and looked at her with pity. "Where is he?" She demanded again as she took off her mask.
"Morlun took him." Miguel simply said as everyone took off their masks and looked at her with pity.
Gwen's eyes started to fill up as she shook her head. "No." She said as her tears started to spill. "No you're lying. No. Tell me you're lying." Miguel said nothing. "Say you're lying!" She shouted at him as her voice started to break. Miguel still said nothing. Gwen knew that he wasn't lying but she wouldn't admit it. "Say you're lying Miguel, say it!" Her legs gave out as she collapsed on her knees.
"NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!" She screamed when she begun to accept the fact that Moles was gone. She put her face in her hands as she sobbed. All of the spiders stood in silence as her sobs were the only noises that could be heard as the sky darkened.
Miguel bent down after a few minutes and lifted Gwen's head up. "Morlun only captured him. If we come up with a rescue plan, we can get him back. But right now, we have 2 seriously injured people and we need to get them hospitalized. Stay strong for him so we can help these two. Then, we'll get Miles back and get some payback on that son of a (keeping it as child friendly as possible sorry)."
Gwen nodded and got up but still had tears flowing down her face. Miguel opened a portal back to Earth 2099 and walked through it. When the portal closed, he saw Peter and Captain Universe run up them.
"What happened?" Peter said as he saw their defeated faces.
"Morlun took Miles. 2 people are hurt." Miguel told them. The two nodded. "Everyone, you can go back to your dimensions or stay here. I have enough beds for all of you guys to stay here so feel free to stay if you want." He said to everyone. They all nodded and walked their own ways. He went over to Cosmic and tapped his shoulder. "Cosmic? I need to talk to you." He said. Cosmic nodded and walked with Miguel.
"What do you need?" Cosmic asked after they walked away from earshot from the spiders.
"He's stronger than before. Before, Miles could beat him easily but now, Miles was even stronger yet he
didn't even seem that he needed to try to beat the kid." Miguel told Cosmic as he rubbed his head. "How is that possible? Miles was literally like a nuclear bomb and Morlun just gave him a few punches and he was out."
Cosmic took a second before answering. "I've fought Morlun a few times before. Tell me, what were his powers like?"
"It's like he has Miles' powers but with fire instead of electricity and stronger."
Cosmic had fear on his face after heard this. "Oh no."
"What?"
"This only happens to him if he takes enough life force that it unlocks his full abilities. Tell me, did he release any fire through his body as you fought him?"
"Only enough to push people off of him. Why?" Miguel asked as he saw Cosmic lose some worry.
"He has not gained his full powers. If he has, then that force could level multiple cities at once. We need to attack him before he unlocks his true potential."
"Why didn't he-oh no." Miguel said as he suddenly realized something.
"What?"
"He told Miles what he was going to do before he took him. He said he would take him, torture him, capture Gwen, do stuff to her," Miguel as he scrunched up his face in disgust after he said that but continued. "Kill her, drain his blood slowly, then kill him. He must be using Miles to get his true powers."
"It makes sense, Morlun needs to have the life force of a powerful being to reach that power so I'm assuming he will use Miles for that. Morlun may be evil, but he never lies. He won't kill Miles until he kills Gwen so as long as he doesn't get her, Miles will be safe and we'll be able to make a rescue plan for Miles." Miguel nodded. "Speaking of Gwen, how is she? I knew that she was Miles' girlfriend. This must be killing her."
Miguel looked over towards Silk who was still unconscious after Cosmic said that. He sighed. "Well considering that her boyfriend is captured yet she isn't being an idiot by trying to get him back by herslef, I'm guessing better than most people in this kind of situation."
Cosmic nodded before starting to walk away. "Well I think that's enough talking for now. You have injured to tend to."
Miguel nodded before walking towards the still unconscious Noir and Silk. "Lyla, is the injury room ready?" Miguel asked his AI assistant.
"Yes, the two can come in it now." She responded.
"Good." Miguel said as he picked the two up and walked towards the injury room and placed them on the beds. "Do whatever you need to help them. Nobody comes in unless it's me or I tell you someone can come in. Got it?"
"Understood Miguel."
"Good." He said as he walked towards his holocomputer.
--Morlun tossed Miles in the room he used for torture. He slapped him awake and placed him in the torture chair.
"Where am I?" Miles groaned as he started to wake up.
"Your hell." Morlun said as he filled a bucket with acid.
"What is that?" Miles spat as he watched Morlun pour the acid in a bucket.
"A gift for you. Be cautious now, it will burn, but you won't die." Morlun said as he laughed evilly. He poured the acid on Miles. Miles stayed still for a second until the burning started to take a affect as he screamed loudly.
Morlun laughed as he left the room and closed the door. When he turned around, he saw Verna standing there.
"How did you do it?" She asked.
"Do what."
"Become so strong."
"I used our other sibling's and father's life force." Morlun said as he walked away. Verna nodded in understanding. The rest of their family was useless for their cause now. Either too old or cowards, it didn't matter. The only useful ones were the only ones left, and that was perfectly fine with her. She started walking away as she smirked at Miles' screaming.
--Miguel was still working on where Morlun was. He thought it would be in the same dimension as before, but Morlun was smarter than that and left that dimension. He looked at the time and sighed when he saw it. 1:30 A.M. I should turn in shouldn't I? he thought. Yet, there was something that made him not want to go to bed and he knew it wasn't looking for Morlun.
"Lyla, what's the status of the injured?" He asked and felt the heavy feeling in his heart lift slightly.
"Noir is awake and is fine. Silk is still not awake, she's in a coma." Lyla replied.
"Give me the cause of Silk's injury."
"She has severely burned skin and broken ribs. I gave her surgery for the ribs and some ointment for the burns. It should heal her but I think Morlun did something to her that made her go into an intense coma. I still don't know when or maybe if she wakes up."
The heavy feeling returned to his chest and felt even more intense. What is wrong with me? He thought. "Let me in there." He told her as he walked away from the holocomputer. When he arrived in the room, he saw Noir lying on his bed, playing around with his rubix cube.
"Hey fella." He said when he saw Miguel.
"Hey Noir, you can go now." Noir nodded and he left the room.
Miguel sighed as he walked over towards Silk and sat in a chair next to her bed. He reached over and took off the fabric covering most of her face and felt something in his chest relax when he brushed her skin on accident. What is wrong with me? he thought to himself as he rubbed his face with his hands. He sat there and looked at her. After a few minutes, he stood up and went to bed.
--Miguel woke up and felt the heaviness in his heart again. What the hell is wrong with me? he thought as he rose out of his bed. He put on some causal clothes and went to his kitchen to eat something when he saw all of the spiders in his kitchen. He was shocked that all of the spiders were still here, all wearing casual clothes as well. He knew that he let them stay in his house but he didn't know that everyone did. Are those my clothes too? he thought but he shrugged it off, not caring that they were. He didn't care much for clothes anyways.
He walked over to the coffee machine and started to brew some coffee. He saw Gwen enter the room and walk towards him. "How you feeling?" he asked her.
"Fine. I know that we're gonna get Miles back so I'm not gonna be that depressed."
Miguel smiled at her. She sure is strong for Miles he thought. The weight in his heart started to be more noticeable again. God, what is wrong with me? he thought as he poured some coffee into his mug and started eating a muffin Lyla just baked for the spiders.
When he finished, he went back to trying to find Morlun but still had no luck. After an hour, he felt a sudden pull to the injury room. He sighed. As long as it will get the heaviness out of his heart, he didn't care much. "Lyla, let me in the injury room."
"Of course." She answered with a knowing smile. She was surprised that Miguel figure it out yet. He can be so dumb she thought.
Miguel walked in the room and looked at Silk. He suddenly noticed that the heaviness in his heart slowly lifted away. His eyes widened in realization. No, no. It can't be. I don't. Stop thinking that. I don't like her he kept trying to say to himself, but his memories started to shoot at him.
Before, the battle, he wasn't looking for Miles and Gwen, he was looking for her. He fought harder than he thought he could when Daemos looked at her greedily. He somehow fought even harder than that when Morlun was starting to kill her. He kept glancing at her when talking to Cosmic. He didn't go in the injury room to let Noir out, it was to see her. It was why he felt a sudden burst of happiness when he touched her. It's why he was here. No, I don't like Silk. I don't, stop thinking that! he thought to himself. But a small part of his brain kept saying he did but he kept saying he didn't until it stopped.
He walked out of the room and went to the sink to splash cold water on his face so he would stop thinking it but a small part of his brain still kept thinking about it. I need to swing he thought. "Lyla keep looking for Morlun, I'm going out."
"Understood. Though, you sure you don't want to stay and do something I'm sure you'd rather do?" She said and she smirked at him.
"Shut up and just do it." Miguel said, rolling his eyes. He put on his suit and started swinging. He looked around and saw the surprisingly still economic New York. Flying cars passed by and lucky children took pictures of him as he passed by. He passed by Central Park and saw couples holding hands. His mind went insane mode after seeing this and showed Silk swinging with him and laughing. Her laugh was so light and-STOP IT MY GOD! I DON'T LIKE HER YOU USELESS BRAIN! he shouted to his brain as he swung back.
When he came back to his house, he took off his suit and stormed around the house, frightening a Peni who was working on her mech. "Lyla, let me in the injury room." He said to Lyla as he approached the room. The doors to the room immediately opened and he walked in and sat in the chair next to Silk's bed. His mind kept arguing that he liked her even though he kept saying that he didn't. "I like her." he accidently blurted out. He didn't know why he did because he knew that he didn't.
"What?"
Miguel looked up and saw Silk looking at him with a confused look on her face. Crap! he thought as he mentally slapped himself.
The acid finally stopped burning Miles and he checked how bad the burns were. He grimaced at all of the blood the acid caused to ooze out. He hoped the rest of the spiders would come soon, he didn't know how much he could take. The room suddenly turned freezing cold and Miles figured it was Morlun's doing. He started shiver as the restraints on the chair released him. He fell down and curled up into a ball and did his best to keep warm. Cmon guys, where are you? I need you Miles thought as his vision started to dim
