Miles woke up in a different room than he remembered from the day before. Before, he was in a room that was dark and only had one uncomfortable chair in the middle made of metal in the middle. Now, he was in a warm room with three large windows that revealed lots of sunlight and had clothes littered everywhere in his room and walls covered in posters.
That was when he remembered what just happened in the last 24 hours. Waking up to see Gwen's beautiful face, finding out that all of the spiders came to save him from Morlun, but then Miles remembered Miguel and his injury. He almost gagged at the memory of it. The amount of blood that was on the floor surrounding him and the two noticeable bumps caused by his ribs would make anyone feel sick. Miles sighed and walked over to the kitchen where his mom was making breakfast.
"Buenos dias, mi hijo, eat some breakfast. You need some after all those injuries you got."
"Thank you mama." Miles took the plate and went over to the table to start eating. After a few minutes, a portal suddenly appeared and Silk walked through it. She quickly tossed him an object which Miles saw was another dimension hopper.
"Lyla told me to give it to you." Silk muttered and turned to walk through the portal.
"Wait, has Miguel waken up yet?" Miles asked her before she could disappear.
Silk looked back with eyes full of sadness and a hint of anger in them. "No" she said a little bit louder.
"Would you like some breakfast?" Rio asked quickly with a plate of food in her hands.
"No thank you." She said and quickly walked through the portal and closed it.
"Dios mio, what's wrong with her?" Rio asked with a shocked face.
"She's - going through something at the moment." Miles' memory shot back to right before Miguel passed out where he muttered to Silk that he liked her then went into his coma. She must be really shook about that Miles thought as he continued eating.
He looked over at the dimension hopper and realized that he can talk to Gwen again. He quickly grabbed it and sent her a text.
Yo, wanna hang out today?
Miles put the device down and kept eating. When he was finished, he put his dishes in the sink, when he looked back, he saw that Gwen sent him a text back.
Sure, what time?
Now?
Miles waited for a response but never got any. He sighed and went back to his room. She must be busy he thought when he got another text.
I'm already outside, spider boy ;)
Miles laughed slightly at it and got his bag to put his suit in it. He went outside and saw Gwen leaning on a tree with her back turned on him and was on her phone. He walked up to her and put his arm around her waist.
"When you said that you were already outside, I would have thought that you'd be ready for me by then."
Gwen giggled. "You take forever to respond so I just figured that you weren't going to come out as quickly as you did."
"I'm your boyfriend, did you really think I'd leave you hanging?"
Gwen looked at him with a slightly confused face. "Boyfriend? I never said you were my boyfriend."
Miles rolled his eyes. "We've been together for more than a month. We pretty much are."
"Well, you never made it official."
Miles laughed slightly before looking at her. "Then, will you be my girlfriend, Gwen Stacy?"
"I'd love to." Gwen said and the two of them laughed before they kissed each other. "So, what do you want to do?" She asked him when they pulled apart.
"Wanna go on a swing?"
"Sure." They both went into an alley and changed into suits.
By the time Miles was finished, Gwen already jumped and started to swing away. Miles smiled before he put on his mask and followed her. In just a few seconds, Miles already caught up to her and the two of them swung freely together, something they haven't been able to do for a while. It was nice to just forget about Morlun for a bit and be happy. Suddenly, he heard a commotion below and he looked down to see someone robbing an electronics store. Miles swooped down and shot a web at the robber to make him trip. Miles landed and webbed the man's arms and legs together. When he was sure the man couldn't escape, he turned to see Gwen fighting a large group of thugs.
Miles ran over and took care of two thugs easily by sticking them to a wall. He took care of 3 more by webbing them together. By then, Gwen already took care of the rest.
"Took you long enough to help."
"Had to take care of one of his friends." Miles said and looked over to the struggling man that tried to rob the store.
"So, it's the famous girlfriend of spiderman." One of the larger thugs suddenly said to them. Miles rolled his eyes. Everyone by now knew about Gwen by all of the YouTube videos of her. He just wished that they'd just called her something else. While she was his girlfriend, he didn't really seem particularly fond of people everywhere calling her that.
"Yeah, and she just kicked your butt." Miles eventually said and looked at the thug.
"Please, I would've beat her easily if this idiot didn't shove me." The man said and moved his head towards another thug that was unconscious.
"Oh shush, you're just mad." Gwen said and webbed his mouth shut and swung away. Miles laughed and followed her.
They continued to swing and talk with each other for a few hours. They decided to stop since they were both exhausted and get some lunch. They went over to a Taco Bell and got 4 tacos for the two of them and went to Central Park to eat them.
"So, what do you think is going to happen with all of this Morlun stuff?" Gwen said, taking the conversation into a serious mood.
Miles sighed. "I don't know, I just hope we can get rid of him soon so everything can go back to normal. It's been a long month."
Gwen giggled slightly. "Yeah, it has been. I hope Miguel will wake up soon as well. He's nice."
"He is nice, and I hope he can wake up soon too."
The two talked to each other in Central Park while holding hands and looked at the summer trees.
"I missed this." Miles said after a while, sighing.
"Didn't we just do this a few days before?" Gwen said, laughing.
"Yeah, well, all that torture made it feel like forever." Miles immediately felt Gwen tense up after he said that. "Come on Gwen, it's fine. It's in the past and there's no way I'm going to allow that to happen to either of us again." Miles said with a reassuring smile.
Gwen smiled slightly and kissed him on the cheek. "I hope it won't, not being with you alone is torture." (Yes, I realized that was kind of corny, but deal with it. It makes sense to make this chapter a little corny.)
Miles blushed a little at her comment as the two sat in silence and enjoyed each other's company. After a while, Miles heard Gwen's dimension hopper buzz. A few seconds later, Gwen's face had some worry in it. "Some thugs thought it was funny to raid a police station with the Lizard. Want to come?"
Miles was about to say yes when a boom suddenly erupted about a block away. Miles sighed. "I guess I can't. Sorry."
"It's fine Miles, just stay safe." Gwen said while they ran towards an alley.
"You too." Miles said. They kissed each other before Gwen opened a portal and jumped through it. Miles put on his suit and swung over to the explosion to see the Green Goblin flying over a crowd of people and throwing fireballs everywhere. "Ugh, not you." Miles muttered and quickly swung over to punch him in the jaw. Green Goblin fell to the ground, but quickly turned to see Miles landing near him and getting a venom shock ready. "Make this quick, I don't have the mood to deal with you." Miles said and leaped at him.
Green Goblin roared and knocked him away. Miles quickly got up and grabbed one of his wings and released the venom shock. It caused him to stumble a little before he grabbed Miles and threw him to a building.
"Ow." Miles groaned as he layed on the floor. He saw the Goblin start to crush him on the ground and choke him, making Miles get mad, causing him to release a venom shock towards the ground, making Green Goblin to fly away.
When Miles reached him, he saw that he was already out. Miles quickly had flashbacks of Miguel and how he layed on the floor in a similar way. Miles quickly shook the memory away and webbed Green Goblin together so he couldn't get away.
Miles swung away as he thought of Miguel again and all that he did for him, even risking his life. Miles sighed loudly. He hoped that Miguel would wake up soon.
Three weeks later
Miguel has still never waken up yet. Many of the spiders have begun to lose hope on him by now. It hasn't been easy on Silk as well, she rarely talks now. She's always either in the injury room with Miguel, or somewhere in her dimension. If she is talking, it's just short sentences to answer questions.
Silk walked out of the room that Miguel was in and opened a portal back to her dimension with the dimension hopper that Lyla made for everyone. She swung over to a tall building and sat on its rooftop to think.
Her body has been betraying her recently and kept forcing her to be with Miguel all the time even though in her heart she didn't want to and kept saying that she didn't like him despite everything people said to her. She felt even more tears spill out of her eyes. I hate this, she thought. I don't like him and yet this keeps happening.
She quickly wiped away the tears. And tried to think about something else. Anything. But everything just ended up to Miguel and the face he had when he looked at her with pain and love in his eyes as he admitted his feelings for her. This usually happened and she'd just try to shake away that memory, but this time, it went even further. Her memory shot to all the times that he fought so hard for her and the numerous of times that he saved her life. Her heart fluttered as she thought of these things. She suddenly started to remember what happened when he came to ask for her help.
"Hey, Silk. My names Miguel and I need you to come with me."
"And why should I?"
"Because if you don't, some big, grumpy dude is going to come and try to kill you, but, if you come with me, me and a group of spiders can help you defeat them."
Suddenly, a group of tall people appeared and started to destroy the city.
"That's them. We need to go now if you're gonna have a chance to survive."
"But I need to save the city!" Silk shouted and tried to run towards them.
Miguel quickly tripped her so she couldn't run away. "It's going to be fine, they don't kill innocents since it's not 'satisfying', they'll only kill spiders. The city will be fine if they can't find you. Trust me."
"But-"
Miguel put his hand on her shoulder and it quickly, yet oddly, began to calm her a little bit. He pulled off his mask to reveal a man she thought was very handsome. "Please, just trust me. It's going to be fine. Everything is going to be fine." He said with a calming voice and eyes that were serious yet soft. She could feel herself completely calm down as she looked at him with those eyes.
She nodded. "Alright, I'll come."
She sweared that she saw his face quickly light up in pure joy before he quickly changed it and nodded. "Good, now come on, we need to get out of here before they see us." He said and opened a portal looking thing to another place. However, she was hesitant to walk through it.
Miguel turned and looked at her. "It's completely fine. It's not going to kill you." Silk hesitantly stepped through it and the portal closed behind her. "Glad you did it quickly, otherwise, I'd have to tell you that a 15 year old kid seemed to have more confidence." He said, smirking.
"A 15 year old was what!?" Silk shouted.
Miguel smirked at her before leaving. "Make yourself at home, I need to take care of a few things."
Silk rolled her eyes but couldn't shake the feeling that she was kind of sad that she couldn't see him again. She just shrugged and walked away to look around.
Silk smiled at the memory. Maybe I do like him she thought. Maybe I should give him a chance. He seems really nice she thought before she realized it. I guess I do like him she thought, smiling, and opened up a portal back to Earth 2099 and walked through it.
She walked towards the injury room and sat in the chair next to Miguel's bed and looked at him. Slowly, she reached her hand towards his face and held his chin and caressed his cheek. She slightly smiled at the feeling, but her body bursted in joy. She brought her hand back and stared at him, hoping that he would wake up soon.
After a few minutes, she felt a little hungry and started to get up to see if there was food in the kitchen, since Lyla said that everyone was free to eat anything in the kitchen, when she heard a groan.
She froze. She looked at the bed and saw Miguel starting to open his eyes. He blincked a few times before he looked her way.
"Silk? What are you doing here?" He groaned. "How long was I out?"
"Three weeks." She said. They sat in silence for a few minutes. "I like you too." She suddenly said with a lone tear of joy beginning to roll down.
Miguel looked at her with confusion until he seemed to remember what happened before and grinned widely. "You do? I thought you'd just hate me."
Instead of replying, Silk quickly ran and kissed him. Miguel was shocked at first, but began to kiss her back. After a little bit, she pulled back and smiled at him. "I don't hate you, how could I after all you've done for me? I like you Miguel. A lot. And only death can change that." She said with tears of joy starting to roll down.
Miguel wiped away the tears and smiled at her. "I like you too." And kissed her again.
Suddenly, a song began to start blasting that Miguel recognized was a really old song called Celebration by Kool The Gang
CEEEEELEBRATE GOOD TIMES COME ON!
It began to blast. They turned to see Lyla dancing to the music with confetti around her. They both laughed at her as the music kept playing.
EVERYBODY AROUND THE WHOLE WORLD COME ON!
"Want to get out of here and talk in private?" Silk asked Miguel.
"He can't leave unless I check him first." Lyla said while still dancing.
Miguel rolled his eyes. "Can you at least turn off the music then?"
"Fine." Lyla grumbled and the music stopped. Silk giggled as she watched robotic arms start to check around Miguel.
Miguel stood up after they finished. "You're fine Miguel. You healed while you were out, I'd just recommend that you take it easy for the rest of the day to make sure. You can swing, just don't get in a fight."
"Thanks Lyla."
Lyla suddenly started to blast the music again. Miguel rolled his eyes and offered Silk his hand. "Let's get out of here before it gets out of hand."
Silk laughed and took his hand. They went outside and started swinging around until they got to a tall rooftop. Silk looked at the view and was shocked. "I didn't think the future would look so amazing." She said in awe.
Miguel laughed. "That's what I thought when I saw your dimension."
Silk just rolled her eyes and looked at him. "I'm so glad that we like each other." She didn't realize she said that out loud until Miguel looked at her.
"Yeah, me too." He said. "But what's going to happen with us? I mean right now with Morlun, we can die any day."
"We'll figure that out after all this Morlun stuff is finished because we both are going to survive. For each other. Right now though, I just want to get away from it all and be with you."
Silk saw Miguel blush a slightly. "Me too, Silk."
Silk rolled her eyes but still smiled. "Just call me Cindy."
Miguel laughed a little. "I'm glad we finally are able to like each other, Cindy."
Miguel pulled her into a another kiss.
Cindy quickly kissed back as she felt her body burst in joy. She didn't care right now that Morlun was out there, trying to ruin everyone's lives. All she cared about at the moment was that for the first time in a while, she was finally happy.
