A/N: Modern AU. Remember that challenge where you send a raunchy text to your boyfriend in the middle of a crowded room?
The Text
"Can I borrow your phone?"
Sakura turned to Ino and raised a curious brow. "My phone?" she asked. "Where's yours?"
The blond extended her manicured hand expectantly. "Mine died and I need to text Sai to make a covert exit with him," she responded, nodding in the direction of where their boyfriends sat among others in their friend group.
The party was getting rather late, and Sakura herself was open to leaving, but their kind hosts didn't seem ready to let go of them just yet. She shrugged in concession and dug into the pocket of her pants to hand the device to Ino. As she unlocked it and went to work with her text, Sakura's gaze went back to the group.
They talked animatedly, though Sasuke was looking more drained with every passing minute. Even as Naruto tried offering him more food or drink, any attempt to keep the Uchiha entertained, Sasuke seemed to contribute less to the conversations around him and opted more to listen. He looked about ready to bounce.
"Done!" Ino's voice rang as she shoved her phone back into Sakura's hands.
When the pinkette turned to her friend, she saw Ino's own phone pointed in the direction of their friend group. On the screen was a little red light that blinked repeatedly, signaling a recording. Zoomed in on the screen was Sasuke and Sai who sat side by side listening with different degrees of interest to Naruto and Kiba prattling away.
"What...your phone isn't dead," Sakura snapped. "What are you doing?"
"Just a favor for you, Forehead," Ino smiled mischievously as she nodded at the raucous group.
Sakura whirled around and scanned their faces before landing on Sasuke's form. His phone appeared to have buzzed in his pocket, and he adjusted to pull it out to check its screen. Then, his eyebrows raised in what looked like amusement before it morphed into barely suppressed surprise. Almost nothing surprised Sasuke, Sakura would know, but this...
What the fuck did Ino do?
After a moment, his dark irises found hers across the room, an unspoken question on his face.
Sakura blinked dumbly before scrambling to unlock her own phone and opening up her texts to see the most suggestive, x-rated message she would never type with her own fingers. It was enough for heat to gather upon her cheeks and make the room feel stiflingly hot. She gaped at the screen and gripped Ino's wrist in horror.
"Pig!" she hissed, her face burning with embarrassment. "I thought you were texting Sai!"
The blond only cackled as she stopped recording her video. "I did," she chortled. "I sent him the same thing from my phone."
As if on cue, the sound of a chair scraping across the dining room floor echoed through the air as Sai stood up and began saying goodbyes. In his hand, his phone screen clicked off.
"Oh my god," Sakura whispered to herself as she witnessed Sai nearly scramble in their direction.
"I'll send this reaction video to you," Ino chortled, clicking off the recording. "Absolute gold."
"Is—this isn't something you do all the time, is it?" Sakura hissed, glancing back in Sasuke's direction. Horrified, she saw him politely bow in salutations to their friends before pivoting on his heel and making his way towards her, phone in hand.
"All the time," Ino snorted. "Temari, too. Why do you think she and Shikamaru managed to ditch an hour ago?"
Sakura gaped at her and swore her jaw would fall off if any more slack was given. Sai appeared beside the blond and wrapped a sultry hand around her waist. Moments later, Sasuke made his presence known by brushing his fingers against Sakura's wrist, prompting her to turn.
"Your text...?" the Uchiha's voice came right by the shell of her ear and trailed off but not without the undercurrent of suggestion. A pleasured shiver ran down Sakura's spine.
"Bye, Forehead!" Ino called out as she and Sai bustled away, leaving the pinkette to deal with the butterflies forming in her stomach.
"Uh...," Sakura stammered, biting her lip. "I...yes. Yes, let's go."
She hoped she didn't sound too eager, but she couldn't help herself. She silently—though begrudgingly—thanked Ino for giving her something to look forward to the moment they returned home.
