I woke up with a gasp, clutching at my stomach as I sat straight up. I'd just been stabbed. I was certain I'd just been stabbed.
"Kylie?" Dean's voice. He was on one knee next to me, one hand near where my head had been. Castiel was in front of me, hands on my shoulders.
"Kylie, are you OK?" He asked. I took a few breaths, trying to steady myself. "Hey, hey, look at me." I found myself meeting Castiel's eyes. They were concerned, but stable. He was stable. He was there.
"I'm alive." I said, patting myself down and checking around. "Michael killed me. I… I know he killed me. He stabbed me. You," I looked back at Castiel. "You…" I felt my throat go dry. I wasn't quite certain what to say, much less how to say it. He'd said he loved me. I remembered dying like that before. Castiel had just had to watch it happen again. "You're OK." I finally said.
"I'm OK." He repeated. He offered me a smile. "Are you OK?"
"Yeah." I nodded. "Yeah, I am." I looked over at Dean. "What happened? How am I alive?"
"I made a deal." Dean said simply. "And you were a part of it. You're family."
"Thank you." I looked around a bit. "What about Sam? And Jack?"
"We're gonna go get them." Castiel promised. "We need to go. I'll explain on the way."
"No time." Dean said. "I can feel where they went. Come on, we're riding in style."
"Huh?" I asked. Castiel helped me stand, and Dean stood in front of us.
"I'll tell you in a bit." Castiel promised. Dean put one hand on his shoulder, and another on mine.
"Not gonna lie, guys," Dean said. "Been wanting to try this trick in a way that wouldn't get me constipated."
And I blinked.
And we were standing somewhere else. I felt myself stumble, uncertain of where we were, and Cas caught me quick. "Did we just…" I looked around. New place, unfamiliar. Definitely not where we just were. "Did we just do the thing, the, ah…" I tried to find the right word. I could do this, I had done this. Mary and Jack had told me the word for this.
"Teleport." Dean provided the word for me. I nodded, pointing at him.
"Yeah. Right. The teleport thing." I looked over at him and Cas. "I… I've done that before. I've done that to other people before. I did that a few days ago."
"Yes." Cas clarified.
"So that's how it feels." I muttered. "I don't know whether that feeling is good or bad."
"That felt cool to do." Dean commented, smiling a little. I looked a bit more at where we were. Definitely somewhere new. It was…
I knew this word. I knew this word in the other world.
Church.
We were in front of a church. An old one.
There was some sort of a commotion inside. Sam was shouting. "Jack, don't! Don't!"
"This ends now." Dean muttered, pushing a hand out to the door. Me and Cas watched him glow as he strode into the church.
"Dean?" We heard Sam ask. Castiel and I crowded in behind Dean, and moved to the side. I could see Jack and Sam in front of us, as well as Lucifer.
"Kylie?" Jack asked. I offered him a small nod and a smile.
"Hiya, Sammy." Dean said confidently.
"You let my brother in." Lucifer commented. He glanced over at me. "And brought the bitch back to life."
"Well, as it turns out, we all seem to have something in common." Dean replied. "Including your brother."
"Oh? And what would that be?" Lucifer asked.
"We all really wanna gut your ass." Dean replied with a smile.
Those seemed to be the words to set Lucifer off. Castiel and I moved around as Lucifer and Dean began to fight, maneuvering towards Jack and Sam.
"Are you two alright?" I asked, checking over the pair. "Jack, you're hurt." Castiel laid a hand on Jack quickly to heal him. I moved over to look at Sam, and stopped as a thought finally solidified.
Jack shouldn't be able to get hurt. Not like that. Not from a minor stab wound. "Jack?" I looked from him up to Sam and Castiel.
"Lucifer took my grace." Jack admitted, motioning towards Lucifer and Dean. "He's overpowered, now."
Sam looked back over at me. "What about you? Are you OK?" His gaze flickered down to my abdomen. Jack looked a little concerned as well.
"I'm fine." I promised. "I'm OK." I glanced back over at Jack. Castiel had just finished healing the wound. "I'm glad you two are safe."
"Glad to see you back on two feet as well." Sam replied, catching me in a quick hug.
We heard a crash and a grunt above us, causing us all to look up. Dean was fighting hard, but Lucifer was gaining the upper hand. We watched Lucifer throw off more than one punch towards Dean's face, most of which landed.
I scrambled to think of a way to help Dean, but Lucifer had him so that Dean was between him and us. Any spell I could think of would hurt Dean as well, assuming I could even do anything at this point. Lucifer was overpowered, now. He didn't just have his own powers, he had Jack's abilities too.
Sam was the one who did it. He was the one who acted while the rest of us just watched.
He moved quickly, and threw a blade I hadn't seen up towards Dean. This one was different. It was gold and swirled, like the one that Michael had used.
The light between the two was blinding. I had to shield my eyes first, I couldn't see.
Then there was a thud. I looked out and down to see Lucifer's body on the floor. Angel wings were burnt into either side of the ground around him.
"Holy crap." I muttered.
"Is…" Jack took a short breath. "Is he?" He couldn't quite finish the sentence.
"He's dead." Sam said.
The words we were all waiting for. He's dead.
"Holy crap." Dean repeated. We all turned to look at him, surprised and happy.
"You did it!" Sam cheered.
"No, we did it." Dean replied, looking around at all of us. "We did it." I was about to run over and hug the brother, but Castiel stopped me. At the same time, Dean doubled over in pain.
"Dean?" Sam asked.
"Something's wrong." Castiel muttered.
"Dean!" Jack shouted. I looked over from Dean to Cas, and saw a new fear form in the angel's eyes.
"We need to run. Now." Castiel sounded terrified as he did.
"We had a deal!" Dean howled. His voice didn't sound like his own, though. Not quite.
"What's happening?" I asked. As I spoked, Dean suddenly calmed. He stood up straight, and turned to us. He even smiled.
The smile wasn't correct, though. It wasn't Dean's smile. It was someone else's.
"Michael." Sam whispered the word in terror. Once he said it, I knew he was right.
"Thanks for the suit." Michael's words, but through Dean's voice. "I'm sure I'll see you all again sooner than later." I blinked, and he was gone.
"Where did he go?" Sam asked, turning to Castiel. "Cas, where did he take Dean?"
"I don't know." Cas admitted. "They're gone."
We all stood around for a few moments in astonishment. Just like that, we'd both won and lost everything.
Lucifer was dead, but Dean was gone.
We'd just won. We all thought that we had just won, but it didn't feel like a win. It felt like we'd just traded one form of loss for another.
The journey back to the Bunker was short and silent. Castiel got us all back there fairly quickly. We were met by Bobby and Mary.
"Where's Dean?" They asked.
None of us had an answer for them. None of us knew.
Dean was just… Gone.
