Chapter 1: Fight Fight.
A/N: So today I got my first hate comment and I would have to say I was waiting for it because someone told me that SasuHina ship has a lot of haters. It doesn't matter to me because these characters aren't real. Lol. I love to write them as a couple because my stories demand so and I would confess one thing that I am actually happy with NaruHina in cannon. Why? Because they are fictional characters and they don't affect my stories. Now I don't mind hate comments unless they are vulgar, then obviously I am deleting it. Other than this, I am actually happy because my mother always tells me quote "If nobody hates you, then you are doing something wrong"

Disclaimer: I don't own Naruto.
Hinata was worried for Hanabi because her sister's fever was not going down. Hinata pressed the back of her hand on Hanabi's head and felt her temperature for the umpteenth time this morning. Yup definitely, Hanabi was burning up.
It happened all so suddenly. Hinata returned from a week long mission, in which she had to track down a rouge ninja and detain him. The mission was a success but our poor Hinata-chan got no sleep. With a warm shower and a soft bed in her mind, she increased her pace but Kami wasn't merciful. As soon as she reached home, Neji informed her that Hanabi had been ill and so Hinata rushed into her sweet sister's room. Their family doctor said that it was nothing to worry about but it was rare for Hanabi to fall sick. Actually, it was the first time Hinata had seen Hanabi so ill and weak, shaking like a leaf on her bed. Despite her not feeling well, Hanabi smiled the moment she saw Hinata and said that she now feels well because Hinata was here.
"What do you mean?" Neji had asked, not understanding why Hanabi would say such a thing.
Hanabi just bit her lips and her fevered cheeks became even redder. "I am having these bad dreams about Hinata that she is hurt and . . . and" She didn't complete because she didn't want to sound silly and stupid. Of course, dreams are not reality but they did seem so real that Hanabi fell ill day by day worrying for her big sister the whole week.
Nobody said anything because they understood that Hanabi was paranoid. She was scared that Hinata might not return from her next mission, especially now that Hinata was doing the solo ones. Even though the war was over, the threat is yet to go away. Their family had already lost so many members in the war and though Hanabi was tough, she was still a very young child and experiencing the feeling of loss is a very new concept for her.
"May be you are having fever dreams" At last Neji spoke and tried to settle things. He never considered nightmares to be something to dwell on. However, Hyugas were very superstitious about dreams, especially one that involves the death of a close person.
Hinata's laughter tinkered as she sat down on the bed. Neji and Hanabi looked at her as if she had lost her mind but her laughter was always a soothing one that it ironed the creases of worry from their faces. Hanabi wasn't getting better because she was tensed over a . . . dream.
Silly Imoto.
She clutched her stomach and then gently scrambled Hanabi's brown hair. "I am here, ain't I?"
Yes Hanabi was being silly.
And so the Hyuga sibling laughed together while Neji had that broad grin of his own. It felt like eons have passed since they smiled like this.
"Of course"
"How is Hanabi's temperature?" Hinata was about to doze off when Neji's deep voice startled her. She looked up to find her cousin standing by the door. He looked apologetic that he interrupted Hinata at the wrong time but Hinata smiled at him to reassure that it was not a big deal.
"It is still the same but I think it should go away soon" The fever must go down because the doctor had said so otherwise they would have to run some tests on Hanabi.
"Don't worry, she will be alright" Neji came closer to the bed, watching the small frame of Hanabi tucked inside the warm comforter. "Why don't you take rest Hinata? I can watch her for you"
Hinata knew that Neji was trying to help but she didn't want him here because after so long the Konoha rookies were having a get together. "No it is fine. Aren't you going to meet others today?"
Neji caught on Hinata's inundation. "Not when Hanabi and you need me"
"Nisan, I am here with Hanabi and I think you should go in my place" Hinata requested giving Neji her best puppy eyes. "Also if neither of us goes, they will worry and might just turn up here"
Well it was possible. Their friends were very unpredictable like that. Neji sighed and muttered a 'fine'. He seriously didn't want to go but he didn't need the loud hooligans to come banging on Hyuga's main door. The Hyugas enjoyed their privacy and they didn't like people encroaching on their gates shouting and all, especially when Hanabi needed some undisturbed sleep. So he decided to go to the meeting and left before confirming that he would be back soon.
Hinata was trying to keep the sleep away by reading a book but her vision was blurry and she rubbed her eyes to shake off the grogginess.
"Oneechan?" Hinata quickly dropped her book on the bed and turned towards her sister, rubbing Hanabi's cheek just like a mother would.
"Yes? What is it?" Hinata asked so as to let Hanabi know that she was still there with her and safe in their home.
"Nothing. I was just checking in" Hanabi replied while Hinata kept giggling. It looks like Hanabi is still having the same nightmares.
Hanabi puffed her cheeks arrogantly when she saw Hinata was trying to supress her laughter. "Stop it, Oneechan. It is not funny"
Hinata just raised her hands to calm her sister down "Okay, okay. I won't joke anymore" Hanabi's anger deflated like a balloon because she won't stay angry with her sister for long. "Do you want to eat something? May be something special?" Hinata coaxed Hanabi because her little sister loved the foods that Hinata cooked and also Hanabi can take up on the offer to experience a change in taste from all that bitter medicine that she was having.
"I want tomato soup" Hanabi seemed to say after some deep thought.
Hinata climbed off the bed and kissed Hanabi's head before leaving to cook "Okay, wait for me then"
And before Hinata can close the door behind her, she heard a soft whisper "I always will"
Hinata wobbled as she walked through the densely populated market of Konoha, a basket in her hand. She cursed her luck as there were no tomatoes left in the Hyuga pantry. She couldn't believe it that out of all things to run out, it had to be tomatoes just when Hanabi wished to have some freaking tomato soup. That's not all because now it has been half an hour since she has been hunting for the red fruit but she hadn't stumbled upon even one shop that sold them.
Accepting defeat, Hinata activated her Byakugan to search for the tomatoes. She would not give up that easily because Hanabi got what Hanabi wanted and Hinata would do anything for her baby sister, especially if the said 'baby sister' is sick and craved for some hot tomato soup. Yes, as a big sister it was her responsibility to provide for her. Her love for her sister was very strong, so strong that she is currently on the quest for some tomatoes.
"Please, let there be some. Please, Kami" She chanted over and over again, praying to some deity like a crazy cult member.
Just then she noticed that there is one stall that was selling tomatoes and well there weren't many left and wait again, there is already a man checking them out by squeezing those juicy tomatoes by pressing them in his large palms.
Oh no!
Just her luck.
Hinata had never run so fast in her life, she was like travelling at the speed of light. She was sailing through the sea of people, careful enough not to knock down those poor souls who currently looked terrified that a ninja was whooshing past them like a storm. She would apologize later.
She reached the stall in no time; in fact she is here in just some fraction of seconds. Even Minato would be impressed because damn she put the yellow flash to shame. She quickly picked up some tomatoes in her hand so she can put them in her basket and run again after paying for it.
"Hyuga, What do you think you are doing?" The fruits slipped from her tiny hands as the deep baritone of a threatening voice addressed her. She whipped her head, shock apparent in her feature.
"U-uchiha-san?"
Sasuke looked disappointed. He didn't appreciate tomato stealers. They are like the lowest scumbags in his opinion. How dare she come up to him and steal his food right under his nose but what could he expect of Hyugas anyway. They acted all high and mighty just because of their power and influence. She might think that she would get a pass for stealing just because she is a Hyuga but she is wrong. Sasuke doesn't take kindly to those who try to take away his possession.
Hinata snapped out of her trance and decided to kindly greet him "Ah, nice to you meet you Uchiha-san"
He hopes he could say the same thing but nope he is not in the mood for formalities and her actions have already infuriated him. Does she even know that he spent like half the day to hunt down his precious tomatoes because apparently Konoha has a deficiency of them? Why? He didn't know but what he did know was that he could not function without them. Sakura says that he is a tomato addict but he digresses because for him tomatoes are just like coffee. He gets snappy, if he doesn't have it once a day and today he had none.
"Give my tomatoes back" Sasuke warned. He hoped the Hyuga would get the hint unless she wants the chidori through her heart.
"Excuse me" She brought her basket near her chest so that Sasuke could not think of snatching it away. "I need them"
Sasuke narrowed his eyes and gave her a simple response "So do I"
"But you already have plenty in your basket" Hinata countered.
She really wants that chidori. Huh?
Sasuke inhaled deep, his nose flared like a bull and his chest expanded. Oh he got a lot better in controlling his anger after the war. Sasuke had almost changed. The keyword being 'almost'. He was now a calm and peace loving ninja except when it comes to you know what, tomatoes then his avenger days would return.
Sasuke's eyes hardened like coals and he tried to supress his sharingans from coming alive in a market full of civilians. People still haven't taken well to him and even though he had helped saving the village, he was still being heavily monitored.
"It is not enough" He spoke through his gritted teeth.
"B-but . . . "
Sasuke didn't let her finish and raised his hands to tug at Hinata's basket. He didn't even know what hit him because his one hand fell to his side dangling like a carcass. She had struck him in a blink of an eye. He was not expecting it so of course he was caught off-guard.
Now at any other time, she would have complied with Sasuke without a second thought. Hinata was a kind person who absolutely hated confrontation, like absolutely despised involving herself in a fight until she has to. This was a time that called forth a battle. She was doing it for her sick sister and Sasuke here was making her 'sleep-deprived self' angrier and honesty she felt a little relief after she hit him. Hinata was tired and sleepy and the long chain of unexpected events was not helping her. She too had limits to her selflessness because if Sasuke didn't stop arguing with her, she is going to paralyse his whole body.
"How dare you, Hyuga!"
Sasuke couldn't believe it. This mousy Hyuga attacked him for tomatoes. He would declare war over it now. This time he zapped small lightning from his fingers towards her that caused the Hyuga to drop the basket from her hands.
Both shinobis were quick to grab the falling basket at the same time, tugging it towards them separately. "Let. Go"
"You. L-let. G-go"
Well she tried to sound intimidating. Sasuke would give her points for that but she was a fool if she thought he would take her serious.
Sasuke gave the Hyuga a last warning, "Don't touch my tomatoes or I would kill you".
That's it. Hinata had enough as she narrowed her lilac eyes at him. "Do it" She challenged.
Now she did sound threatening.
The tug of war caused the handle of the basket to break and the tomatoes fell from it rolling down the dirty road in a nearby puddle. The dark haired duo watched them with big eyes as if it was the doomsday knocking at their door.
Unknown to them, their dojutsu activated and the villagers started backing off cause they know this is not going to end well. Both of them looked crazy, the kunoichi had bloodshot eyes and a dishevelled appearance as if it has been days since she last slept while the Uchiha had that glazed over look like he was high on some drug. They wanted nothing to do with two powerful bloodlines clashing at each other. No one wanted to get caught in crossfire so they got far away from the scene but still stayed nearby to witness a fight, if any, breaks between an Uchiha and a Hyuga. That would be some rare showdown in all of Shinobi history.
Contrary to popular belief, it was the Hyuga heiress that finally snapped and went for the last Uchiha's head but the news of an insane Uchiha trying to kill an innocent Hyuga, spread like wildfire.
Konohamaru finally found Naruto. He had been searching for big brother for half an hour. Well he was there to deliver some news.
At first, he went to Ichiraku ramen but the Konoha hero was not there. So he had to basically ask people, if they had seen Naruto and well now he is here, panting and sweating from all the running. He was now standing in front of a BBQ store.
Wait before he tells the Ichiraku owner that Naruto was eating at BBQ's rather than his place. He knew all hell will break lose, if the news of Naruto's betrayal reaches the ears of Tuechi. Naruto would never be served another bowl of Ichiraku ramen ever again.
Konohamaru just shook his head. It can wait for now is not the time. He entered the shop shouting "Naruto Nisan"
Every head turned towards the kid who was being so noisy. A bunch of shop workers tried to throw him out, not caring if he was the grandson of the third Hokage because damn he was yelling so loud.
"Konohamaru, Is that you?" Naruto shouted back.
"Yeah Boss" So now they have two people who were yelling at the top of their lungs but they can't just tell the village hero to leave, can they?
More loud voices joined in.
"Hey ! Will you two quite down?" Ino barked at them.
"Yeah stop yelling" Sakura said all the while, you guessed it, yelling at them. The store manager came out hearing all the chaos and then handled things his way. He told them to shut it or they would have to leave. Soon the place was quite again.
"Guess what? Naruto Nisan, I am here to give you some sizzling news" No pun intended because the news was in fact a sizzling one- Hot and burning just like the BBQ sizzlers.
"What is it?" Naruto asked with a mouthful of meat in his mouth.
"There is a fight going on between the Uchiha and a Hyuga" Every villager is already there and the crowds are still flocking towards the scene as they talked.
The Konoha rookies sat still and their food fell out of their mouths. Only Choji was still busy chewing like a cow.
"What? But why would Neji do that?" Naruto inquired because obviously only the Hyuga prodigy was brave enough to go against a beast like Sasuke even though knowing well that he would never win.
"What the fuck are you saying, Naruto? I am sitting right next to you" Naruto turned his face towards Neji who had been with the group the entire time. The jinchuriki rubbed the area behind his neck in embarrassment. Well the news was a shocking one that he voiced out whatever came to his mind first.
"Then who is it?" Everyone asked at the same time. Everyone wanted a hot serving of tea and Konohamaru would provide them so that their tongue can burn.
"It is Hina neechan fighting Sasuke" Konohamaru dropped the mic quite literally, just that instead of mic he has dropped explosive tags on them.
"What? Impossible" Ino exclaimed and then laughed because no way Sasuke and Hinata would be exchanging blows.
Others agreed and joined Ino. Konohamaru's face fell.
"What would Hinata be doing in the market when she is watching over Hanabi?" Neji just debunked the kid's nonsensical claim.
"I am telling you the truth. Naruto Nisan, you trust me right?" Konohamaru knew Naruto would not doubt him.
"Yes Konohamaru never lies. We should just go and check it out"
And even though others didn't necessarily believe Konohamaru, they still decided to go and watch it with their own eyes but if he was lying, they could beat him to pulp later anyway.
Sasuke dodged a punch to his face while he swung a kick at her. The Hyuga ducked and avoided it by a mere inch. His one hand was still not responding and it was becoming a bit difficult for him, particularly because they were surrounded by hundreds, if not thousands of spectators.
A kunai with a tag was thrown to Hinata's side and she flickered out of its way. A blast went off behind her destroying many stalls as debris fell like flies. Hinata then tried to close off some of Sasuke's tenketsu but he was very fast. It was only thanks to her Byakugan that she is able to keep up with the Uchiha. They went at each other for god knows how long but neither of them had emerged victorious. The crowd cheered.
"Fight. Fight. Fight"
She pumped chakra to her feet as she sped off towards him and then her hand shot in his direction. The sheer force of her chakra hit him and his body went flying a few metres away abolishing the wooden boxes of various vegetables; the wood splinters in air. Many cartons lay scattered on the ground.
Hinata smiled but then a poof of smoke and a wooden log replaced Sasuke's body.
Substitution Jutsu.
"OOOHHHH" The crowd was getting wild.
But such tricks don't successfully work on a Hyuga because soon she spotted him behind her.
Stealthy as a snake I see.
He had his Katana unsheathed ready to swing on her but Hinata moved from side to side, avoiding being impaled without even turning back. She didn't need to because she could see him even with her eyes closed. Her body danced with his- a deadly dance as her clothes swished from side to side as she moved flawlessly. She knew Sasuke was going easy on her but that was his choice because she would go at him with her full power, with a resolve to defeat him. Hinata spun creating a vortex around her to throw off Sasuke with the raw power.
Sasuke took a step back and smirked obviously enjoying it too much. He then dropped on his knees and placed his working hand on the ground, performing a simple hand sign. The land beneath them shook and the soil under Hinata's feet disappeared, creating a sink hole. For any other Hyuga, it would have been too late to react but Hinata was known for her agility. She, for herself, hadn't known that Sasuke could do earth style but she didn't fall for his cheap tricks as she twisted and jumped and avoided the gaping pit altogether. Sasuke, taking the advantage of her being in mid-air, tackled her. Their bodies went rolling and wrestling on the ground and when they came to a rest, Hinata had her Kunai pointed at his heart while he had his katana pressed against her neck.
All this because of tomatoes.
"Holy shit, Guys. You two are really at it. Dattebayo !" Naruto and the whole of Konoha were witnessing the ultimate face-off. Most of their jaws were literally on the ground as their eyes bulged and tongue stuck out.
"See I told you" Konohamaru exclaimed but no one paid him any heed.
"Well that was a youthful spar" Lee gave them a thumbs up. Tenten raised her eyebrows at him. A youthful spar? They almost looked ready to kill each other.
Sasuke threw Hinata's body off of him as he stood up, dusting his clothes. The Hyuga was a feisty one. He remembered what Naruto had once told him about the Hyuga.
"Hinata-chan is a sweet angel. She is just missing a pair of wings"
But Sasuke's sharingans could only see black horns on her head.
The girl's teammates and her cousin were quick to be by her side, helping her stand as if she wasn't the one who had been holding a kunai to his chest just a few seconds ago but he knew every one of them was going to come for his ass.
"Why are you guys fighting?" It was Kiba who asked the question while shooting him dirty looks. Well he couldn't beat Sasuke so he only glared at him but boy he was ready to punch his face. Shino just quietly watched him, maybe planning to annihilate him in his sleep with his bugs.
Sasuke and Hinata didn't say anything because now that they think about it, how fucked up would it sound if they told them that they were fighting for tomatoes?
They would laugh.
What would they know what tomatoes are worth for?
"Hinata, what are you doing here? Weren't you supposed to look after Hanabi?" Neji still couldn't believe his dojutsu. When Naruto had suggested that they should at least check in on them, he had activated his Byakugan and for god's sake he thought he was hallucinating or tripping when he saw them fighting amidst a market. He was the first one to reach here before others because he basically sprinted like crazy but as soon as he came to the scene, he was immobilised with utter shock and disbelief.
Hinata explained it for all. "Hanabi wanted tomato soup as she is sick but we ran out of tomatoes so I searched the whole village. I couldn't find them anywhere so at last I came here and a stall was selling tomatoes here . . . " Hinata had started but then stopped suddenly, hesitation in her voice.
"Then what?" Sai seemed very interested in the story. It seems like the artist has gotten some idea for his latest manga- hentai manga to be specific. Yes, Sai has decided to pursue career in writting graphic novels. Curiousness showed on his otherwise solemn face.
Everybody was confused except for the genius, Shikamaru.
"Isn't it obvious?" Shikamaru sighed.
"No it isn't obvious, Einstein or we wouldn't be asking" Ino mocked.
"Okay then. It is clear they fought over tomatoes" Shikamaru yawned before he pointed out. He wasn't called genius for nothing. He always lived up to the reputation.
Woah. Maybe Sai could write about tomato fetishes. 'Hmmm, the plot sounds good indeed' He is very keen on continuing the legacy of our legendary toad master, Jiraya.
Sakura nodded her head. It is just like she thought. "That seems possible knowing that Sasuke is a tomato addict, he would do anything for tomatoes"
"What? Tomato addict? Is that even a thing?" Naruto chuckled.
"Well it is serious Naruto. Don't laugh because you too are a ramen addict" Sakura basically became an analyst expert on every kind of addiction after the war.
Every one present there guffawed at the blonde ninja because it was true.
Sasuke now felt bad (not by much though) because the Hyuga wanted tomatoes for her ill sister. She wanted to feed her sister with her requested dish and he was being a sick bastard. He had blown things out of proportion but Sasuke couldn't help in the matters of tomatoes. Was Sakura right? Was he really a tomato addict?
"Let's go" Neji stretched out his hand so Hinata would follow him. "We would try to find tomatoes in some other market"
"But Nisan I have searched the entire Konoha. They aren't anywhere" Hinata's face dropped as now she would have to return home empty handed and Hanabi would not get any tomato soup.
Sasuke watched her as his heart did a flip flop. She reminded him of Itachi at that moment. She was a good big sister and cared for her sibling just like his brother did for him. He knew for sure that if he had demanded Itachi for tomatoes, his brother would have brought them from anywhere at any cost.
Sasuke sighed. "Wait" he coughed as all of their eyes turned towards him. "You can take my tomatoes"
..
..
Awkward Silence.
Everyone looked at him incredulously because wasn't he fighting over them just a few minutes ago?
Sasuke's cheeks turned pink as Hinata came close to his face and made an eye contact "Are you sure?"
Her eyes were big with hope glistening in them because Sasuke was ready to sacrifice his tomatoes for Hinata. Eh? No, he meant Itachi.
Sasuke nodded.
"Maybe he isn't a tomato addict after all" Sakura muttered with her gloved hands on her chin.
Everybody agreed except Shino. Even Kiba and Neji seemed to have calmed down because now Sasuke was a good boy.
May be he has changed .
Sasuke handed over his basket full of tomatoes to Hinata and just when she was about to say a 'thank you'. A bunch of Anbus materialised right in front of them.
"We have been informed by the locals that you have caused a major damage to this market. You have to come with us to Hokage-sama"
"Tch"
And then they disappeared into the thin air not sparing even a second and the crowd started dispersing cause it looks like the drama is over.
Hinata and Neji headed off to the Hyuga compound after bidding their goodbyes to their friends. The day seemed to end well even with whatever happened in the market.
"We are home" They let their family know. Hinata first went to Hanabi's room to tell her to wait some more because the soup was on the way. Hanabi was sitting with a cushion on her back as a support and was reading the book that Hinata had left behind.
"Ewww Oneechan, why are you covered in dirt? Go and take some shower" Hanabi reacted like Hinata hadn't bathed for days. Well she can't blame Hanabi because she did look very dirty and slimy.
"Ah , I just wanted to inform you that it will take me more thirty minutes to prepare your tomato soup. Spare me some time even though I know I am already very late" Hinata stated excitedly. Finally, she could make Hanabi some tomato soup.
Hanabi put a finger on her lip and said, "But now I don't want tomato soup. I think now I am craving some cinnamon buns"
What?
Neji face palmed as the basket fell out of Hinata's grip and tomatoes rolled out. He caught Hinata before her body could hit the floor. His cousin has yet again fainted.
"What just happened?" Hanabi asked alarmed.
Neji just shrugged "It's a long story"
…
That night Sasuke turned in his bed, unable to sleep because he didn't get his daily dose of tomatoes.
"Fuck. Where are all these bugs coming from?" Sasuke cursed, trying and failing to save himself from the onslaught of these tiny bugs and insects.
Sasuke wasn't the only avenger in Konoha.
It seemed like Shino was also among the ones who loved revenge.
Tell me if you need a second chapter or I would just mark this under complete.
