Premise/Summary:

After the death of her husband, she became gray. No song could cure her sad broken heart, and with Barb's world tour, she knew she had to stop her. It wasn't what Branch considered "safe", but if she wanted to protect her village, her son and save the only reminder she has left of him, she had to go.

Poppy tries to breathe out the anxiety she felt in her heart. She'll be alone in this adventure, and though it's scaring her, she has to. She shook her shoulders and head, trying to get the bad vibes off her system.

"It's gonna be great!" She screams at the vast nothingness of the sky.

"Yay!" The animated balloon exclaimed as they drifted through the wind. Poppy smiled widely. She's gonna unite all the trolls, stop Queen Barb, and protect her village from harm. Protect her little boy and the memories of her long gone husband. Her smile fell a bit, her fear rising up again, wishing he was here with her.

Just then, her ears picked up a sound of rustling inside her provisions basket. She took a defensive stance, slowly making her way to it. Is it a spy? A ninja? She took off the lid and her eyes widened in disbelief. Her son, sitting inside, munching on candies. He stops his ravenous feast as soon his eyes fixed on his mother and made a sheepish smile.

"Hi, mommy."

"Sweetie, why are you here? Where's Biggie?" She took him out the basket and started to clean him up, sweets all over his body. He points toward another pile of candies and replied, "Asleep in the cotton candy pile."

She stood up and checked. Lo and behold. Biggie was riding out his sugar coma as Mr. Dinkles sucked on his finger. She took her time to breathe and not have a panic attack with her son on-board while she's trying to stop the Queen of Rock in her world domination!

'Be calm, Poppy... Calm down...' She thought to herself as she hugged herself. She could feel the world closing in. Where was Branch when she needed him! As Poppy wonders what he would do in this dire situation, she didn't notice her son's worried and sad look.

She did try to shower him as much love and joy as she could as if his father was still there. He always did wonder what his dad was like, and from all the scrapbook stories from every troll he met in the village, he seemed to be pretty the same as how his mom would be at times. Protective, paranoid and pretty cool. Three P's of his parents.

After his dad's death, his mom was never the same, as they said. The way she smiled, moved, talked, looked. She was gray since then and never changed back. She never sing and dance with them anymore.

But he did wonder too, times when they weren't sad and gray. When everyone said their voices were in perfect sync together, and how captivating it was. How she was the most vibrant pink troll in the whole village, and his dad was blue. Like him! How she was always positive and happy. How the two of them went to their own adventure to stop the Bergen's from eating everyone and help them find their happiness. They all said she was the happiest troll they ever saw.

She loved singing very much, and that's why he tries his utmost bestest to sing seven times every single day for her. Wait! Its morning now. He hasn't sang anything for her today.

He took out his ukelele from his hair, and cleared his throat, but didn't mind when his mother hadn't focused her eyes on him. She will when she hears the new song he found in one of her vinyls back at home!

Stars shining bright above you

Poppy freezes her thoughts, the song reminding her of a particular night out in the woods. A campfire with her burnt ukelele and a grumpy troll, telling her to stop singing.

Night breezes seems to whisper 'I love you'

Birds singing in the sycamore trees

Dream a little dream of me

The boy sang with enthusiasm. His eyes closed, feeling the music fill up his little pop heart.

Say nighty-night and kiss me

Just hold me tight and tell me you'll miss me

While I'm alone and blue as can be

Dream a little dream of me

He stopped his song after seeing his mother with a pained expression and a faint soft smile. "I dream of you every night, love." She said under her breath, her eyes at the sky as she held back her tears. He wondered what she meant, but stopped when she wrapped her arms around him tight.

"Thank you for singing to me everyday, Blue."

"Everyone said you love music and it helps you relax." He said as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. "I'm glad!" His smile bright as can be as he returns her hug.

A giggle escaped from his mother's throat. "My little baby is being helpful!" She squeezed him. Her happiness bubbling inside all the more knowing he hated the nickname.

"But I'm not a baby anymore." He muttered with his tongue out.

"You'll always be to me, sweetheart."

After a while of hugging, he separates from her a bit but his arms still on her shoulders.

"Love you?" He asks, thinking if the affection was enough. Poppy smiled widely and placed a kiss on his forehead.

"Love you too, honey."
