Hello! Welcome to my disclaimer!

I'm trying to keep as much of the original story concepts and character personalities from both the original film and the proposed sequel intact with little to no changes except when I need to fill in some blanks.

Okay, enough of that. Enjoy the story!

Kilonova:

a transient electromagnetic explosion that occurs when two neutron stars or a neutron star and a black hole collide and merge into each other.

The sun peeked just over the edge of the Royal Interstellar Academy's Administration building, a sign of the approaching noon hour. The bright light shone onto the school, covering the cream-colored buildings with a gentle blanket of warmth.

The air was quite still, no more than an occasional breeze here and there. Despite the lack of a gust, the various trees were losing more than a few of their leaves as autumn was just around the corner.

As beautiful as the mixture of natural beauty and man-made architecture was, the students and staff were bumbling about with their minds elsewhere.

Instructors rambled on to each other about their good students with poor penmanship, and students worried about their projects while simultaneously speeding to a class that started five minutes ago.

In other words, just a regular Tuesday morning.

The clock hit 11:45 and the previously empty halls of the West Academic building were quickly filled with students, signaling the end of a class. Several of them were talking amongst themselves as they walked, topics varying from the next assignment to what they were having for lunch.

One specific student was also thinking about his next meal: a sandwich he had packed with a nice piece of roast birken, courtesy of his caring mother.

Jim was just stepping out of the lecture hall when an all-too-excited pink blob saw him.

"Peek-a-boo!" Morph greeted, popping into Jim's field of vision.

Jim stopped in his tracks, caught off guard. But he quickly smiled, glad to see his friend. "Hey, buddy," he greeted in return, "How was your morning?"

Morph giggled as he transformed into a miniature Delbert Doppler holding his four babies, each of which had exaggeratedly large and smelly diapers, leaving the poor Doc to pass out from the foul stench. Jim laughed at the reenactment, "Good thing you went to help him."

Morph had been living with Jim in his academy dorm room, but the bubbly and often loud creature wasn't allowed to come to class. As a result, Morph would usually spend his mornings helping Delbert and Amelia with their quadruplets since they did not live too far from school grounds.

As the academy's dean, Amelia had administrative duties early in the morning while Delbert had been recruited as a new instructor for afternoon astronomy classes. Despite the time apart, the couple had arranged to have at least one of them with the children at all times, and they even managed to all have lunch together. This was about the time Morph excused himself to go with Jim and share lunch with him.

Events after school would vary from day to day, but it seemed that everyone had arranged nice schedules adjusting to their daily lives.

"Hey Morph, I've got a schedule change today," Jim announced. Morph's face fell- not literally- as he made a sound of surprise. Jim swapped out his current textbook for another in his locker.

"I told you, remember?" he explained, "We've got an exam today, so I'm going to study with Kate over lunch." Morph's face quickly changed from an expression of sadness to one of mischief. "Ooh-la-la!" he giggled. Jim rolled his eyes as he placed the new textbook in his book bag, "Again Morph? Really?"

Ever since Jim and Kate had gotten past their differences and became good friends, Morph began to get the idea that Jim had a special interest in her. It had gotten to the point where not a single day went by without Morph bringing it up one way or another.

No matter what the conversation was or who was present, if Katherine Blake was mentioned he wasted no time in teasing Jim about it.

The aforementioned pink annoyance giggled, enlarging his lips and making kissing sounds. Jim frowned, no longer glad to see his friend.

"It's not a date," he explained, clearly irritated, "... we're just studying for a test." Morph grinned as he sarcastically nodded, making a sound of disbelief, "Mm-hm, mm-hm."

Jim sighed before closing his locker and walking off, Morph quickly following him.

As they continued, Morph shaped himself into a cookie, nudging Jim's shoulder eagerly and sounding quite excited.

When he would have lunch Jim usually got a little snack for Morph, maybe a bit of fruit or some juice. But Morph always begged him for a cookie.

Jim wasn't having it today. "No Morph, no cookie," he said, sternly shaking his head. Morph made a sad noise, transforming back to normal.

Jim shrugged, glaring at Morph. "What, you think I'm gonna give you a cookie for poking fun at me?" he asked, feeling more than a little frustrated. Morph harrumphed, turning away and crossing his bubbly arms.

Jim brought his fingers to his temple and started to walk just a bit faster. He didn't have time for this. "Y'know what? Kate and I are gonna need to focus if we want to study, so you can go have lunch with B.E.N. if you want," he said decidedly, mildly hoping Morph would actually go to the Benbow Inn and stay with B.E.N. for a while, "I'm sure he's got some nice nuts and bolts for you to eat."

Morph dramatically scoffed, shaping himself into a heart and cracking down the middle.

Jim sighed, halting his walk. He knew he shouldn't be angry just because Morph teased him. "Look Morph, I'm not mad," he calmly explained, turning to face the bubbly creature, "It's just for today, okay? Kate and I need some time alone."

No sooner did the words slip out of his mouth did he regret them.

Morph gasped and quickly shaped himself into a miniature Jim and Kate, holding hands as they both shyly looked away. "Time alone!" the little blob teased rather loudly, "Oooooh!"

Jim growled, quickly walking away before anyone noticed his red face. Morph returned to his normal form, laughing to himself as Jim stormed off.

Morph didn't want to go all the way to the Benbow by himself, and he usually would spend his after lunch hours back with Amelia and the quadruplets until Jim's classes were done.

But today he had an itty-bitty idea in his mind that sounded like a lot more fun.
