Hey everyone! What's up!?
So this is something I thought of seeing a cutscene from Sonic Frontiers, that had Sonic and Tails having a brotherly moment, which is something I really love. I really love having Sonic and Tails be like big and little brother, just encouraging and having each other's backs is great!
Also… Anyone else saw Sonic Prime!? Boy was it awesome and looking froward to what comes next in the show! I have also been thinking about doing another one shot with Sonic and Nine in the future!
Anyway, lets get to this one now!
It's been a couple of weeks since Sonic and his friends Tails, Amy, and Knuckles have departed Starfall Islands, Sonic's friends first saving Sonic from his corrupted state and then Sonic saving the world once again from an evil that threatened to destroy his whole world. Since than the four friends have returned home, going back to their lives as normal, well until the next big threat came that is. However one specific friend was having some deep thoughts as he returned to his workshop…
"I hope Tails is alright, barely seen or heard anything from him since we left Starfall Islands…" Sonic thought as he raced across the land to his pal's workshop.
As the workshop came into view, Sonic was surprised to see his two-tailed fox friend outside… Just sitting on a bench, relaxing and being silent. Sonic was a bit worried… Normally Tails would be inside, working on some new gadget or doing any repairs to the Tornado. Tails didn't even seem to notice Sonic running towards him until the blue hedgehog was right in front of him.
"Hey buddy, how are you?" Sonic asked as he stood in front of his friend. "You okay, haven't heard from you lately."
"I'm okay Sonic…" Tails sighed as Sonic sat down next to his friend. "I just been thinking a lot…"
"About what?" Sonic curious to know.
"Remember back on Starfall Islands when you told me it's okay to have help and it's all part of growing up?" Tails got out, sounding a little afraid.
"Yes…" Sonic said slowly, confused still.
"I think I need some time by myself, out there, figuring out who I am, with no one with me, grow up a little." Tails got out, expecting Sonic to be upset or at the very least concerned. "Look, I know what you're going to say, that I'm too young and it's dangerous for me to be alone, and you're going to stop me…"
"That's actually not what I was thinking." Sonic replied as Tails finally turned to look at his friend, who had a smile on his face. "Look Tails, like I said back on Starfall Islands, you can stick up for yourself without anyone helping you and I know you're more than capable of handling yourself without me."
"You really mean that Sonic?" Tails asked.
"I do, to be honest, sometimes I'm afraid you will never need me anymore." Sonic sighed now. "And I guess that time is going to come sooner than I expected, but I'm happy for you buddy, if you need time and take a trip by yourself, than I support you."
"Thanks Sonic." Tails nearly shedding a tear as he hugged his friend, well more like a big brother. "And I'll always be your friend Sonic, trust me, I'm not going to leave you forever anytime soon." Tails confirmed.
"Thanks pal." Sonic smiled as he hugged his friend back, the two keeping it for a couple minutes before separating. "Now come on, I'll help you pack the Tornado." Sonic offered as the two friends went inside the workshop to get packed up for Tails' trip.
The two friends spent most of the rest of the day packing and as everything was ready, the sunset was starting, creating a beautiful orange sky as the sun went down over the horizon. After a final checkup of all the things Tails' would need on his journey of self discovery, packed into the small cargo hold of the Tornado, the two friends took a breather and time to say their goodbyes for now.
"You know I'm really proud of you buddy, I hope you figure things out." Sonic smiled as the two friends shared another hug.
"Thanks Sonic and I promise I'll be okay, don't worry about me." Tails smiled.
"I know you will be, take as much time as you need, but don't be surprised when I have a big welcome for you when you return." Sonic joked.
"Looking froward to it." Tails chuckled as he climbed into the cockpit of the Tornado and started up the engine, the propeller spinning as Tails released the brakes and the biplane started to roll down the runway.
"Stay safe buddy! Have a great trip!" Sonic yelled after Tails as the fox looked back for a second, giving his friend a thumbs up as Tails moved the flight stick up as the Tornado lifted off the ground and was soon enough in the sky.
As the Tornado flew up to where the clouds were, Tails admired the view as his plane was right above the clouds, with the sun shining its last rays of light of the day, the sunlight reflecting off the shiny metal as Tails eased up on the controls and relaxed, sighing peacefully. Part of him still couldn't believe he decided to take a trip alone, to discover who he was, but here he was, at peace with nothing to disturb him.
However, since there was no one with him, his friends not here, especially Sonic, Tails felt a little strange and it was going to take a day or two to get used to it. He wondered if he made the right decision to go on this trip, especially if he got into trouble…
"No, you're going to be fine Tails, you can take care of yourself and I'll come back to my friends when I'm ready." Tails told himself with confidence as he continued flying through the sky, bound for whatever place his journey would take him.
And that's a wrap on this quick one shot!
I hope you enjoyed the Sonic and Tails moment!
With that, see everyone later!
