TITLE
A Percy Jackson Fanfiction
Set three years after the Blood of Olympus.
Percy woke up unusually giddy on a bright morning in late summer, but he couldn't remember why. Then it all came back. The gods were having a party. But not just any party. Sure, they had parties for many occasions: birthdays, mortal holidays, Zeus and Hera's anniversary. But this party was even more special. It was the anniversary of the end of the war against Gaia and balance being restored to the Greek and Roman sides of the gods. All that was great, of course, but that wasn't the reason he was excited. The real reason was that today was the day.
He was finally going to ask Annabeth to marry him!
He had a date planned for today—hanging around town, hitting all their favorite spots before they made their way to Mount Olympus for the party. He had arranged everything. Then, after they danced for a while, they would take a walk in the gardens and he would ask her. He could just see the look on her face when she realized that he planned—actually planned for once—all this for her.
He looked at the clock, then scrambled out of bed to put on real clothes and brush his teeth before he was supposed to meet Annabeth, in the process hitting his head on the door. He made it to Annabeth's door right as the clock struck 9:00, perfectly on time. His heart was racing.
Annabeth opened the door like she'd been watching for him (which, of course, she had). "Hey, Seaweed Brain!"
"Hey, Wise Girl. You ready for today?"
Annabeth smiled, shutting the door behind her as she asked, "What do you think?" As they made their way up Half-Blood Hill, they talked and laughed about old memories. Annabeth was only slightly surprised when Argus, the camp security head, pulled up in a sleek black limo instead of the usual van.
"Where'd you get the limo, Percy?" Annabeth arched one eyebrow at him.
Percy smiled secretively. "If I told you, it wouldn't be a secret. And you would have evidence."
Annabeth just laughed as Percy opened the door to let her in. Argus only waved at them, as usual. They lapsed into comfortable silence until they made it to the bus station.
"Where to, Seaweed Brain?"
"Where do you want to go? It's entirely up to you."
"Remember when we fought the Titans in Central Park? I think that was when I figured out just how bad I had it for you. Now look at us." She bumped her shoulder into his, then got on the bus for Central Park.
And so the day went, the perfect day, until the time arrived for the couple to head to Olympus.
They walked merrily into the lobby of the Empire State Building, where the woman at the desk didn't even need to ask who they were, just handed them a card to head up to the six hundredth floor. The elevator music was still as awful as it had always been.
The party was in full swing by the time they reached the main palace of Mount Olympus. Nymphs and demigods and gods and satyrs mingled, enjoying each other's company. Percy and Annabeth wound their way through the crowd, stopping to talk to some friends and grabbing some of the mortal snacks on their way.
After they had danced for a while, Percy asked if she wanted to go for a walk in the gardens, but was surprised when she said no. She laughed at the confused look on his face.
"Of course, Seaweed Brain!"
They wandered through the beautiful plants before sitting on a bench in the center of it all. Percy gathered up his nerve, then began his prepared speech.
"Annabeth, you know I love you. I love the way you laugh when I do stupid things and the way you love me anyway. You also know that I am not good at speeches, so I'm just going to say it." Percy pulled a small black box out of his jacket pocket, kneeling in front of the bench she was sitting on. "Will you marry me?"
Annabeth wasn't shocked like he'd expected. She just smiled, nodding, then said, "You planned all of this? Yes, Seaweed Brain! I will marry you!"
Percy slipped the ring onto her finger, then kissed her. "I love you."
The End 😊
