The gentle breeze was a nice and refreshing filling in contrast to the beating hot sun. Everyone seemed to take advantage of the beautiful day and we're out and about doing things that normally are put off.
Near a very popular coffee shop, a girl stood sipping on her salted caramel mocha frappuccino. She looked down at her phone scrolling through a bunch of posts until she noticed a news article talking about America discovering a nasty disease that is making people brain dead. She couldn't help but read it a few more times feeling like something was not being said.
"Mio-Chan!" the sound of a squeaky voice pulled her from her phone as she looked overseeing a good friend of hers run-up to her with a big grin on her face.
Sakaya Ikeda was a good friend all of Mio's life. Sakaya was fairly popular with the boys and sometimes girls. Her hair was put in pig-tails and was a beautiful sun gold blonde. Her eyes were also a strange but pretty pink color.
"I thought you were supposed to go see your brother off" Mio chuckled as Sakaya took the drink from her and took a sip.
"I did that already...He said he will be back hopefully within the next year depending on everything with America clears up" She said with a shrug and Mio nodded humming.
"I think so I mean how much longer do you think America will tolerate the 'living dead' "She wiggled her fingers teasing not knowing how serious the situation was real and how it will soon be affecting the whole world.
"Yeah, true worst thing worst they will just blow themselves up and blame it on us" Sakaya chuckled knowing that America would do no such thing.
Sakaya nodded as she proceeded to tie up her pink hair as she watched Sakaya suck down her drink making her frown. She pouted since she was unable to buy another since the line was already getting long.
"Mmm this is good" Sakaya chuckled seeing Mio frown and proceeded to promise her another drink.
The two young adults continued talking about the current events happening and how the airlines closed any contact with America meaning all the tourists here had to stay longer and all the people in America had to do the same.
"Crazy right? To think these people are actually dead but yet alive?" Mio mumbled as they walked down the sidewalk as Sakaya scrolled her timeline humming at all the words her friend said.
"OH NO!" Mio jumped to Sayaka sudden exclamation making the pinkette look at her confused and surprised. She noticed the blonde whimper and turn her phone so she could see what has her worked up.
"Some crazy American bit Yuki!" She hollered catching a few stares as Mio looked around worried she would get the wrong attention.
"I'm sure he is okay," Mio said squeezing Sayaka shoulder but that didn't help as she broke into sobs.
"H-He isn't doing good" She mumbled softly as she continued to scroll and scroll looking for some kind of update of her favorite pop idol who was currently in America to do a concert and an anime convention.
"Sakaya!"
"D-Dead?" Mio noticed her worried features morph to one of pure horror as news articles piled in about the pop stars' death.
"Yuki is dead?"
"Attacked but how?"
"His fault for going to America when they are unable to keep their own people safe…"
"You think that's what the girl was yelling about?"
Mio looked around at everyone who was around them and staring down at their phones in shock that a very popular person was now dead after being gone for only a few days. Mio looked at her phone as she noticed an alert in the corner of her phone. As she clicked on it the sound of alarms blared in the city disturbing the once peaceful atmosphere.
"Everyone go home as fast as you can! This is an emergency IF YOU SEE ANYONE WHO HAS ANY OF THE SYMPTOMS: FEVER, SWEATING, COUGHING WITH OR WITHOUT BLOOD, STRUGGLE BREATHING DO NOT INTERACT! THIS IS AN EMERGENCY!"
Mio looked at Sayaka with a bit of a surprised expression as she decided it was best to listen. Grabbing her friends' petite hand the two girls quickly ran through the crowd of panicked civilians to their apartment complex which luckily wasn't far from the area. Boarding up inside their room Sayaka quickly turned on the T.V and went on the news channel where a woman stood with a worried look.
"Today we bring horrible news. A boat that was currently docked on US land was found docked here. Many passengers were already fully infected with the D Virus. Law Enforcement has been unable to successfully apprehend all infected. They are currently somewhere in the city" She glanced over to her side as officers dragged a half-eaten man from a person who laid limp.
"More info here later" The tv suddenly turned to a commercial as the two girls stared surprised.
"That is what they call the virus? The D-Viris?" Sakaya giggled just trying to lighten to mood and despite Mio cracking a half-smile something felt severely wrong...That whatever this virus is...Potentially wiped out the United States Of America...And was making its way here.
So sorry how short this chapter was I kinda wanted to put it out there more a less to introduce my OC's and to kinda show the spread of the virus. So I want to get something's across so first off, THIS IS A SYOC STORY. I will be accepting OCs but I want them to be fleshed out so let's try to make them a little more detailed for my sake.
The next thing is the chapters will be in days. So for example this chapter is DAY 0. Meaning this is before the outbreak when OC is added I'll have it be DAY 0-1 meaning the day hasn't ended and it's sorta and expansion.
Another thing is the Story is currently rated T. If you want to see smut...or anything like that I can consider making it M but right now it's a T rating.
I want to make this another H.O.T.D Series so depending on what you guys think and how well the book is recieved will be the factor in the second book!
