Chapter 9
Prologue August 9th, 1987
Glinteye was nervous, stressed, and frustrated. The kids have recovered enough to Joyburn's standards. Why Glinteye was so nervous about this was that on the third day of their recovery, ten letters arrived in the infirmary all addressed to Harry Potter. The problem with this, was three had very dark, malicious curses on them, two were laced with love potions, the vile things, And another one was a howler. If Joyburn wasn't such a cautious being (and insane), those may have hurt the kids. So now we knew who they were before whatever happened to them before they separated.
After we found out their former name (they do not like being called that), it was easy to backtrack records in both magi and non-magi channels and found the bastards who did this to them. The kids were a mess when we looked deeper. And with the way they act whenever their family was brought up. Sadly after the fire that Juno admitted to starting, not many traces were found of them.
It was what they had found when they looked deeper that was making Glinteye so stressed, and it was why he was bringing the kids to the soon to be crowned Lord Ragnok, even with the frustrating situation with Snapjaw. But this was more precedent to take care of.
Because soul fragmentation was always more important than some damn rebellion.
Chapter 9 September 2nd, 1991
The headmaster's office was very full, and very noisy at this moment. Almost all the teachers were in here, arguing and shouting. Some were calling for expulsion of Juno, others called for his imprisonment. But when Dumbledore lifted his hand up, everyone went silent.
"Placing a potion into everyone's drink, holding up classes for a day, forcing everyone to play a 'game', endangering the life of a student, and using an illegal device to leave school grounds-"
"Actually it is not illegal. As Lord War for the England Gringotts branch, I am required to where a portkey at all times in case my lord has need of me." Juno said. Several teachers stood up in anger at having the headmaster interrupted, but Dumbledore waved them down.
"That maybe true, but I cannot have students leaving whenever they want."
"That is why I only use it for emergencies and Gringotts' bussiness."
"As for the other things, what do you have to say for yourself?"
Shrugging, Juno just replies with, "I wanted to explore the castle more before I started classes." The teachers started up their shouting again, each talking over one another, trying to be heard. Again, Dumbledore had to silence them.
Shaking his head, he looked at Juno in disappointment "I am sorry, Mr. Potter. That excuse will not work. I am afraid I may have to expel you from here."
Standing up and turning towards the door, Juno says "That's fine. I'm sure Durmstrang will happily host the Philosopher's Stone!"
At that statement, several teachers froze as Dumbledore paled.
"W-wait. Stop!"
Juno paused in the doorway and looked back. "Yes?" He said as sweetly as he could.
"How- how do you know about that?"
"About what? Oh this little rock?" Juno said as he pulled the Philosopher's Stone from his pocket and began to toss it into the air and catching it.
"Simply, my lord, Lord Ragnok, (Flitwick silently gasped at this. He knew the last Lord Ragnok was from England, but to be the Lord War for him?) had asked me and my siblings to help protect it, and tasked me to take it and put it somewhere safe if I found the protections for it… Inadequate. So I decided to keep it on me at all times to better safeguard it."
Snape snorted and sneered at Juno. "Arrogant, just like your father."
"OH! You know Glinteye? I mean he can be a little full of himself… OOOHHH! You mean James Potter. Yeah. Never really knew him, so I wouldn't know."
Dumbledore stood and looked at the teachers. "If I may have a word with Mr. Potter alone."
All the teachers filed out, with Snape hesitating at the door before closing it behind himself. Juno returned to his chair and set the stone onto the headmaster's desk.
"Before we begin, headmaster, I would like to say one thing. DO NOT CALL ME MR. POTTER!" Juno yelled as he slammed his fist down, right onto the stone, shattering it into pieces. Dumbledore sat there, mouth open in shock, and before he could do anything, Juno picked up a piece and began chewing on it.
"MR. PO- DAMON, STOP!"
"Hmm? Oh. That wasn't the real stone. The real one is still in the third floor corridor. This was some goblin candy that I had custom ordered to look like it for this moment."
"I'm sorry. 'For this moment?' I don't…" Then it clicked. "You planned this, didn't you?"
"All but the fall. I planned to reveal the fake stone to the teachers to make them think I had it."
"Why?"
"I believe one or more of them is after it. So if they think I have it…"
"Then they will go after you. What is stopping me from still expelling you and saying I returned the stone back?"
"What I said about my lord was not a lie. If I think the stone is not protected well, mainly me being in the same place as it, then I am to take it and hide it."
"Well I still need to punish you in some way. You did endanger a student."
"I did say that if anyone caught me I would accept any punishments. Wait did I? Oh well. If I did or did not, either way I'll accept the punishments… Except leaving. Though I know Professor Snape wanted to take 50 points and give three weeks of detention."
"Those will stand, and I believe a week of detention with each Professor Babbling and Professor Flitwick shall suffice."
"Very well headmaster. If I may leave now?"
Nodding his head, Dumbledore stopped him for one more question. "May I ask about the incident that separated you four?"
"I'm sorry, but that is something I am sworn not to reveal. Good day headmaster, and I do recommend the candy."
Dumbledore sat looking thoughtful and noticed the shattered remains of the candy stone. Taking a sliver, he took a bite and quite enjoyed it.
When Juno returned to the common room, he found a small group of four people waiting for him.
"So what's-"
"-the damage?" Asked the twins.
"50 points and five weeks of detention. So overall… I would say I came out of that fairly well."
"FAIRLY WELL!? FAIRLY WELL!? You could have gotten Neville hurt, or killed, or- or even worse, expelled!" Said the only one of the group who was mad.
"To be fair, they can't expel me, and I made sure to go after him as soon as it happened to stop him from getting hurt. Speaking about him…" Turning to look at the now nervous final member of the group, "I have a story to tell again and a favor to fulfill."
And so Juno retold his tale, telling Neville about how he was hurt, how he was split, and finally, how he was trained to be a warrior. Then he told Neville about the game he had started.
"And I… won?"
"Well you did pin me to the ground. And you stopped me from fleeing anymore by breaking my arm."
"HE DID WHAT!?"
"Shhhh. All in the past now, Hermione. Besides, it was an accident. An accident that fulfilled the conditions for the game. Now who's hungry? I believe it's time for lunch."
As they headed down, led by the Weasley twin's, Hermione was not finished with her questions.
"Hermione, I cannot answer all of your questions if you don't allow me to answer."
Huffing in anger, when they reached the great hall and everyone going silent on seeing who entered, she just went to sit down alone and eat.
Before he could follow, Neville felt someone grab his arm.
"The winner of the game and the favor: Neville Longbottom!"
Applause broke out, with Gryffindoor being the loudest, and Slytherin with only a smattering of claps. After that, the duo sat down and began to eat.
"So Juno, how did you do that with the spell?" Asked Seamus who had moved closer to Juno.
"Mmm, simple. I used my sword."
Seamus waited a few seconds for more, but got annoyed waiting. "Yeah, but how?"
"To understand how, you would need to have a basic understanding of runes, else the explanation would go over your head."
"Well can I hold your sword?"
"Sure, after you pry it from my cold, dead hands."
"MR. POTTER! 10 points from Gryffindoor for threatening a fellow classmate!" Said Mcgonagall, who was passing out class schedules at the time, being unable to do so this morning.
"What threat?"
"The one you just said!"
"...Oh. Sorry, forgot that that is only a goblin thing. See goblins and their weapons… is a little strange and complicated. For someone who makes a non magical weapon, they are to be buried with it as a sign of respect. While any magical weapons are taken by the victor to keep the legacy of the magical weapon going. Now, only the current owner of the weapon can handle the weapon without insulting the original creator. What I had meant by my statement, is that if he wanted to handle it, he would have to kill me." Juno explained with a shrug at the end.
Seamus looked pale after this explanation and backed away a little bit. Mcgonagall also looked a little green. While Hermione looked a little interested at learning something new.
"So to get a magical weapon is to win it or make it? What about if you pass away in an accident, or by old age, or natural causes?
"Simple, they go to the apprentice." At this, Juno's eyes glazed over slightly. "And as soon as my master passes, I'll get all of those magical weapons of his…"
"If you wanted all of his weapons, Lord War, then why did you not follow goblin tradition in the passing?" Asked Flitwick, who had walked up during the passing of weapons explanation.
"...Because it just didn't feel right to me. He trained me for several years, I grew to who I am because of him. I just… couldn't." Juno replied, looking down at his plate.
"...And that's why I couldn't become Lord Famine years ago. You will be serving your first detention with me tomorrow night at 10. Lord War." Bowing, Flitwick walked away.
