The next morning Jessica showed up at Seth's door.

"Mornin' Jessica, didn't expect you to be at my door."

"Well, it's been a while since we had breakfast together, how about we get some at the diner?"

Seth seemed a little hesitant at first but then, he hadn't seen Jessica in a while since she was spending more time in New York City.

They spent a wonderful morning eating and talking. "So, how's the semester going?" Seth asked.

"Oh, it started out slow but the many of the students have jumped right in. It's very encouraging to see another crop of potential best-selling novelists."

Seth smiled brightly. Jessica was always so kind and optimistic but also incredibly wise. She had great instincts, that's for sure.

While walking to the car, they met up with Mort. He was hoping to catch a few rounds of golf…providing there weren't any murders in Cabot Cove.

"Jess, throw your bike into the back of my cahr."

Jessica obliged and they returned to her house. Seth and Jessica walked in the door and Seth began to sniff the air. "Does my nose detect peanut butter cookies baking?"

"Seth, I can always count on you to show up just when my latest batch is ready to come out of the oven. Care to try a few? I'm tinkering with my recipe, so I'd love to see what you think."

Seth enjoyed a cookie, or five when he looked at his watch. "By golly! I've got to get back to the office. If you're not busy tomorrow night, how about coming by for dinner?"

"I'm not busy and I'd love to come Seth, 6:30 work for you?"

"A-yuh. See you then!"

Seth walked into his house and removed his jacket. He walked into his office when someone came walking in. He turned around and it was Lauren.

"Lauren? Didn't expect to see you here. How's the office hunt going?"

"Well, I've got two places I'm interested in. Now I just have to weigh the pros and cons of each one. I can't wait to get up and running."

"Oh, I imagine you'll be quite busy 'round here." Seth went back to the recent file he was examining.

There was an awkward silence. "You know, I could use some advice…I mean…"

Seth looked up from his file. "Doctor Hazlitt I'd really appreciate some help. How about coming over for dinner tonight? I tend to make big meals to last me a few days so there's plenty." Seth nodded his head, "Okay. In the meantime, make out a short list of what you like and dislike about the offices. Maybe we can narrow things down."

Lauren smiled at this. "I'm headed home now. Oh, I'll have dinner ready by 7. See you then."

Seth smiled to himself, no eggs and toast for him tonight.
