Hey everybird! What's up!?
So with the trilogy done and given a nice conclusion, it's now time to explore the moments between the third stories as I have said I wanted to do!
This will be a series of one shots, like Amazonian Life, at least for now, that might change in the future and become like the Daring Jewel series if it's possible!
Also, if you have any ideas or suggestions, than please say so and I'll see if it's possible to do or not!
Without further ado, lets get right to the first tale!
Like Mother, Like Son
The day was very sunny and bright in the Amazon rainforest as Brandon was flying around, taking in the beautiful scenery that the area of the Blue macaw tribe offered, especially the various jungle flowers which bloomed from the trees and ground.
"Wonder what I'll find today." Brandon thought as he searched around the area, nearing the border that the Blue and Scarlet macaw tribes shared.
It has been a few weeks since both the Blue and Scarlet macaw tribes had reunited with each other and relations were improving every day, thanks to the help of Brandon's own mother, Jewel, and the husband of the Scarlet leader, Antonio. Both sides could freely cross the border without question and that gave macaws like Brandon a chance to explore more. Brandon did cross the border, keeping his eyes glued to the ground and well not really what was in front of him, if he did, he would have noticed someone else flying right at him…
"You know I could go for a little sn…" Brandon said out loud, but was cut off when he bumped his head against something and fell down to the ground, luckily he was only a couple feet off the ground, so he didn't hurt himself at all. "Ouch… What was that?" Brandon asked, rubbing his head with a wing while he looked to see what he bumped into, for there was no tree in his way.
Suddenly Brandon saw the jungle foliage rustle in front of him as he was a little scared, thinking it was a predator, who saw an easy snack, but Brandon relaxed when he saw a red wing and then a Scarlet macaw girl come on out. A rather pretty girl… As Brandon blushed bright red.
"Oh, did I just bump into you?" The girl asked. "I'm so sorry, I wasn't looking where I was going." The girl holding her wing to help Brandon back up on his talons.
Brandon took it, but he felt his wing shake and start to sweat as he couldn't get any words out, luckily the girl continued talking so it wasn't entirely awkward.
"Are you okay?" The girl asked. "Did you need to see a healer?"
"No…" Brandon said slowly. "No, I'm fine, I'm sorry too, I should have been looking myself."
"Yeah and…" The girl stopped as she took a closer look at Brandon. "Say… You're the Blue tribe leader's grandson, right? You spent a night in my home a few weeks back, when things were not so good." The girl asked.
"Right…" Brandon smiled nervously. "My name's Brandon by the way."
"Lily." The girl introducing herself. "Well, it was nice meeting you, I was actually heading to the Blue side, see what they have to offer in terms of flowers and plants, see you later." Lily preparing to continue her way.
"Sure, see you later." Brandon waved goodbye as he continued his own way, but well couldn't stop thinking about Lily.
The day soon came to a close and Brandon went back home, where the rest of his family was, getting set to enjoy some dinner as the little blue boy came in.
"There you are son." Blu said.
"How was your day?" Jewel asked.
"Probably the same as always, nerd stuff…" Tia rolled her eyes as Blu gave his daughter a stern look.
"Well, it was good…" Brandon began, taking his seat as Blu and Jewel looked at each other, both having noticed Brandon's different tone of voice.
"Son, what happened?" Blu concerned now.
"I crossed over the border between the two tribes and I ran into someone…" Brandon once more shaking and sweating. "A girl…"
"Oh our little brother is in love!" Carlos teased.
"Brandon's got a girlfriend!" Tia joined in as Blu shut his kids up, while Brandon's face started to go red.
"Stop teasing your brother and let him talk." Blu ordered Carlos and Tia, of course just because they stopped talking, doesn't mean they didn't continue to tease their brother silently.
"So, what's her name, what do you know about her son?" Jewel wondering politely.
"Well, her name's Lily and she's into finding out about new things like me and oh she's also the daughter to the Scarlet leader." Brandon telling everything he knew, only having spent a couple minutes speaking to Lily.
"Interesting… So she's Antonio girl…" Jewel thought as an idea formed in her head.
Next day came and Jewel flew on over to the Scarlet tribe, to see Antonio, and after some help, found him helping to pick some herbs from flowers for the healers. Antonio noticed his friend as Jewel smiled back, coming on over to where Antonio was, landing down on the branch.
"Hey Jewel, nice to see you, what can I help you with?" The Scarlet male asked.
"My son tells me he ran into your daughter yesterday and well from what I can tell he seems to like her, like really." Jewel informed her friend.
"Funny that you should mention that, my Lily said she also ran into your son, bumped into her was more accurate." Antonio remembered. "I think I know where you're going with this…" Antonio getting the picture as the two friends talked over it.
It wasn't long as midday came and Jewel went back home, Brandon still there, taking a rest from yesterday, but more like keeping inside to avoid Lily and becoming a nervous wreck as his mother came flying in.
"Hey there son, staying inside today?" Jewel asked.
"Yeah, don't really feel like doing anything today." Brandon answered.
"Well good, that means you have enough energy for tonight." Jewel smiled as her son was confused.
"What do you mean mom?" Brandon asked with one eye raised.
"There's going to be a small dance party for the little ones tonight that Antonio set up in the Scarlet tribe, of course since the two tribes are friends now, the Blues are also invited." Jewel informed her son. "And Lily's going to be there too." Jewel said as that triggered Brandon's nervous reaction as his face went red like a Scarlet.
"I don't know mom…" Brandon began.
"I understand, I'm not forcing you to go, but you'll have so much fun and it may change your life…" Jewel trying to guilt her son into going, which did work as Jewel turned around and prepared to go out again, but Brandon stopped her.
"Wait!" Brandon called out as he then lowered his voice. "I guess I'll give it a shot…" Brandon said, not feeling at all confident.
"Great, now I'm off to help Antonio set up for tonight, I expect to see you there son." Jewel said as she then took off.
The day soon began to give way to the night as a small clearing on the jungle floor in the Scarlet tribe was all ready for the party, a crowd of mixed Blue and Scarlet kids already gathered and were either chatting, dancing, or snacking with each other. Brandon, along with his brother and sister, arrived there as Carlos and Tia left their brother's side as soon as they touched down, leaving the nervous boy to his own way.
"Okay, okay…" Brandon told himself. "Just relax, maybe it wouldn't be so bad…" Brandon hoped as with shaky legs he went into the area reserved for the party, trying his best to fit in.
Taking a drink, Brandon just wandered around, smiling, but not talking to anyone, paying not much attention to anything and well yet again he should have, because he once more bumped into none other than Lily…
"Oh, it's you Brandon." Lily said as she regained her focus. "We got to stop bumping into each other."
"Yeah… Sorry about that." Brandon apologized. "Didn't expect you to be here…" Brandon said, which was a lie, knowing she would be here, he just hoped he could have avoided her better as Brandon quickly looked around and saw his other on the side, speaking with Antonio. "I got to go, I'll see you later, I guess." Brandon quickly left, not giving Lily a chance to say something back, Brandon coming to his mother.
"Son, what are you doing here?" Jewel asked.
"I can't do it mom…" Brandon admitted. "What if she doesn't like me that way?"
"She will son." Jewel smiled to reassure him. "Just like your Uncle Rafi would say, just be yourself and the connection will click." Jewel giving her son the same advice Rafael gave her when she and Blu were chained up and were in the samba club back in Rio.
"Alright mom…" Brandon sighed as he returned to the party, which was by now in full attendance as Brandon had to make his way through the crowd to find Lily and when he did find her, he found the lump in his throat grow bigger. "Okay, who goes nothing…"
"Oh hey Brandon, you okay, you left before I could say anything back." Lily smiled.
"Yeah sorry about that, the truth is… I'm just a little nervous around girls, well except my mother and sister, my sister in particular I can't stand." Brandon joked, to which Lily chuckled softly herself. "Anyway, do you want to maybe… I don't know… Dance with me?" Brandon holding out a wing for Lily to take.
"I don't know… I'm not much of a dancer…" Lily admitted.
"That's okay, neither am I, I normally sit out when my family and I go to my Uncles Nico and Pedro's club." Brandon formed a smile. "Come on, what do you say?"
"Okay, that sounds like fun." Lily giving it a try as the two took to where the dancing area was.
At first it was a little weird, but the two got into it as they started out slow before getting into it, Brandon was still really nervous as he felt a presence watching on and he soon spotted it… His mother there, encouraging him on and with her wings, motioned for her son to get closer to Lily. And well it wasn't long before the two were soon in sync and even holding onto each other. And as the music from the band playing came to the climax of the current song, Brandon and Lily ended their dance with their wings fully around and their little beaks just about an inch away from each other. Both were panting from excitement as they couldn't speak at all as a couple minutes passed in silence before Lily spoke up.
"Well that was…" Lily began.
"Great… You were great…" Brandon commented with a blush.
"You were not bad yourself too." Lily smiled.
"Thanks." Brandon said as suddenly Lily almost tripped, lightly feeling light on her talons as Brandon managed to catch her before she fell, resulting in him looking down at her and their beaks just as close. "Got you, you okay?" Brandon asked as Lily then brought her beak and kissed Brandon on the cheek.
"Now I am." Lily smiled. "Want to go get some drinks?"
"Sure…" Brandon still feeling that warm imprint Lily left on him as the two left the dance area, spending the rest of the party with each other and enjoying their night.
"Good job son, I knew you could do it." Jewel proud of her son that he finally took a major step in his life.
"Well, I guess this is going to make more than friends in the future." Antonio commented as he was also watching his daughter with Brandon.
"Lets not rush things that fast, they're just kids after all." Jewel chuckled as it was best to let things go their natural course.
And I'll end it there!
I hope you enjoyed the first tale in this series and remember if you have your own ideas and suggestions, than by all means say so!
With that…
See everybird later!
