Pyrrha Nikos had never been so confused in her life. As she looked towards her new partner, she could tell that the girl had the exact same thought as her. It had been possibly no more than an hour and a half since the two had found each other in the forest and settled into a little competition with the pair of partners they had met.

Pyrrha was always one to enjoy competition. It was no surprise to anyone to know that she was a competitive spirit. She was a four-time Mystral Tournament champion after all. She was nearly undefeated in the ring. Fighting and training had been her life since she was old enough to hold a sword.

She loved it.

She was glad to be partnered with somebody who had similar feelings to her. Though, when they planned out contest to find and capture the civilian first, she did not expect that it would be this… easy?

No, easy wasn't the right word. Not when it looked like the civilian had seemingly captured herself.

There she was. Dangling upside down from a tree. A foot caught in a trap and her entire upper body bound in black ribbon. And it wasn't like either of them had set the trap or anything. No, they were just walking around and talking with one another when they happened to stumble into her.

But there she was. Ruby was completely trapped, trying desperately to free herself by shimmying around and kicking awkwardly with her one free leg.

"Should we help her down?" Pyrrha asked her equally stunned partner.

"Yes please!" Called down Ruby, between gasps and grunts of struggle. "All the blood is going to my head and my foot is really itchy!"

Yang laughed. "Does that mean we caught you?"

"Only if you let me down!"

Yang and Pyrrha looked at one another and shrugged. With a carefully aimed shot, Pyrrha cut thee rope and Ruby fell into Yang's awaiting arms.

"Ooh, you're strong," Ruby chimed in.

Yang set her down gently, letting Ruby itch her foot with her other one.

"Welp, gotta run!"

As their civilian started to run, Yang grabbed onto her shirt collar. The girl tripped, landing hard on her bum with a loud squeak.

"I'm not letting you get away this time. Trick me once, shame on me. Trick me twice… Well, you know the rest."

"That hurt," Ruby whined. "And you stretched my favourite shirt. I hope you're happy. Meanie." The young girl stuck out her tongue, only for Yang to do the same, still holding onto her.

"Hello Ruby, it's nice to finally meet you," Pyrrha decided to introduce herself, kneeling down to be at eye level with Ruby. "Yang has been telling me a little about you. I'm P-"

"Pyrrha Nikos! You're like super cool!"

"Oh, well thank you," Pyrrha said with a small blush.

"Ya! Your weapons goes Patchew! And Wackaw! And Boom! It's so cool. Can I play with it?" Ruby's pout was almost too much for Pyrrha to handle. It was just so adorable.

She had to physically stop herself from giving in and handing the ten-year-old her weapon. Was this her semblance? No, Yang had said her semblance was some sort of super speed. This girl was just too cute for her own good. Or was it another trick like the one she pulled on Yang? And by the looks of that ribbon around her body, Blake too.

"How about a trade. I will let you fire my weapon a few times after Initiation, for proof that we captured you."

Ruby nodded vigorously. "Deal!"

"I'm going to untie you now, so don't run away."

"Got it."

So Pyrrha untied her.

And then in a flash of petals, Ruby tried to bolt, forgetting entirely that Yang still had a firm grip on her collar.

"Aaw! You stretched my shirt again!"

"Actually, I think you stretched your own shirt, that time," Yang shook her head with a laugh. "I like her. Think you can help me play some pranks?"

Ruby's eyes lit up. "Really?!"

"Proof first, pranks later." Pyrrha said, holding out a hand.

"Fiiine," Ruby reached into her bag, giving them a pin with a hand drawn picture on it. "You're lucky. I'm almost out of pins!"

"Wow, I didn't realize that we were so late."

"Ya. But that's okay. Everyone else is bus- Eep!" Ruby quickly slammed her hands over her mouth. "-erm, nothing! Grandpa Ozpin says that now you need to walk over to that cliff over there."

"And you're not playing a trick on us?" Yang raised an eyebrow.

"No, you already got the pin, so now you just need to go to the cliff to show it to Grandpa Ozpin and mommy and then you're done."

Both Pyrrha and Yang sighed in relief. They had done it. Initiation was over for them. Finally letting go of Ruby's shirt, she stood up and brushed the back of her skirt from all the dirt it picked up off the ground. Giving it a few test shakes to make sure it was all clean, she smiled happily.

"So, I guess you now need to go back to running around the forest?" Pyrrha asked.

"Yup," Ruby replied with a pop. "I'm going to bring this weapon with me, just in case I run into Blake again. Oh, that's the person who's weapon this is."

"We know. We sort of have a competition to see who can find you first."

"Oh, well. Did you win? Or did they? Huh…" Ruby tapped her chin, then shrugged. "I don't know. Well, have fun!"

And then she was off once more.

Pyrrha looked to Yang. "I guess we're done."

"Guess we are."

"Ready to head back?"

"First one to reach the cliffs win?"

Pyrrha grinned, "most definitely."

Darn, I told myself to take a break. It's a pretty short chapter, but at least Initiation is almost done. Maybe another 2-3 chapters, give or take.

Midnightwolf64 - Thanks! I can feel it coming to an end! So close!

Darknight2124 - Gonna be fun. Ruby will always be adorable... And a clutz

Therecklessone - A babysitter for Ruby... whoo boy is that going to be hilarious. Maybe give each of them a chance? Hmm, could be a fun batch of chapters...

merendinoemeliano - Thanks

Kivuntappaja - That thought didn't even cross my mind! Wow, that is so much of a better mix than I thought it was going to be.
