Hey everybird! What's up!?
Been awhile, again… Yeah… I'm currently having a lot of writer's block and it would help if you all could suggest more ideas!
Other than that, I do hope you all this tale, which is inspired from a chapter in Real in Rio (Remastered) from Sledge Macaw!
Is This Real?
Jewel woke up with a groan, stretching her wings and yawning as the morning light greeted her, at first things were a bit blurry as Jewel rubbed her eyes clear, blinking them a few times and adjusting to the light. Feeling her stomach beg for food she started to make her way to open the birdhouse door and fly next door to Linda and Tulio's house to cook up some pancakes. Only as she began to walk…
"What the?" Jewel said out loud as she saw she was in her birdcage. "I didn't sleep in the house during the night…" Jewel said, very confused as her attention was turned to some snoring, looking to see that Linda was still fast asleep in her bed, which looked very different than Jewel remembered…
Thinking at first it was just her brain playing tricks on her, Jewel unlocked the cage door and was about to fly to the bed, but then as she started to flap her wings, she simply fell right back down. Jewel tried again but failed, so she had to resort to walking over to Linda's bed and to Jewel's surprise, only Linda was on the bed, Tulio not present.
"Maybe he got up early to head to work…" Jewel thought as right after she said that, the alarm clock started ringing very loudly on the bed stand, with Linda repeatedly hitting the clock to make it stop, which triggered Jewel's memory. "Okay, something very weird is going on here…" Jewel thought as Linda eventually got up and looked to see Jewel on the bedstand as well, which surprised the human female.
"Not feeling it today Jewel?" Linda asked. "Normally you would be making your alarm sounds." Linda said as she got out of bed.
"What is she…" Jewel began as she turned her gaze to the bedroom window and something didn't seem right… since the house was right next to the jungle, she would be seeing a view full of trees, but there was nothing. "Wait a minute…" Jewel thought as she walked over to the bedroom window and looked outside…
Instead of a bright, green jungle, it was a row of stores, with a street in between and cars going back and forth, with people on the sidewalks, and most importantly… Snow. Something that would never exist in Rio, which could only mean…
"I'm back in Moose Lake!" Jewel shouted as to Linda it was a loud squawk, which wondered her as Linda poked her head out from the bathroom, in the middle of brushing her teeth as usual.
"Jewel, are you okay?" Linda asked as Jewel didn't answer and instead began searching all around the house for anything familiar, but most importantly her family.
"Blu, kids!" Jewel called out. "Where are you!?" Jewel repeated as of course there was no answer and the things Jewel saw confirmed her fears more and more…
All the things Jewel used to move about in the house, all her toys and things she used to enjoy herself with, all here, just as she remembered… In the past.
"This can't be happening…" Jewel told herself, total fear entering her head. "I should be wrapped up in the loving wings of Blu, going next door to cook pancakes, stop any fights that may break out with the kids… I should be able to fly now!" Jewel lost as to what was happening as Linda came behind her.
"What's the matter Jewel?" Linda asked as she picked up Jewel, who was shaking in fright. "You don't look too good." Linda said as she felt Jewel's forehead. "Maybe I should make an appointment to the vet." Linda thought as she carried Jewel over to the kitchen countertop, Jewel still lost as Linda prepared their breakfast, but Jewel didn't eat, having too much on her mind to worry about eating right now.
After Linda finished her breakfast and trying to get Jewel to eat something, but failing, she went to go open the bookstore for today. Jewel needing to be carried this time, not going ahead on her police car and then sliding down the staircase to the shop down below. Linda set Jewel down on the front desk while she went to go open up the shop, Jewel looking around as everything was how she remembered, the bookshop all nice and neat.
"Okay, okay, you need to calm down Jewel…" Jewel told herself. "Maybe Tulio will come, slipping into the front window…" Jewel remembered how the crazy adventure to Rio started.
Trying to keep calm, Jewel made her way to her usual spot she would spend the day, by the front window where her cage was. As Jewel sat there, still nervous to this change of scenery, Linda came by with her midday snack of hot chocolate and cookies, which caught the attention of Jewel.
"I hope this makes you feel better Jewel, I called the vet right before, we can head on down there later today." Linda said to Jewel as she placed the plate of treats down for Jewel to take.
Jewel did feel hungry as she unlocked the cage door and went to try and enjoy her nice little meal, but something else tugged at the back of her mind as she remembered something else that should be happening. And it didn't come to her until she was in the middle of taking a sip of the hot chocolate, Jewel putting on a annoyed expression as she looked out the window to see those two geese Alice and Chloe, standing on the bench outside the shop.
"Well, well, isn't it my favorite nerdbird…" Alice greeted Jewel.
For once Jewel was actually thankful Alice said that, which could only mean one thing…
"Let me guess, you're going to say, "Where you migrating to, the breakfast nook?" next?" Jewel asking as Alice and Chloe were rather surprised.
"How did you know I was going to say that?" Chloe asked, curious as to why Jewel would know that.
"You two aren't going to believe it, but any second now someone's going to come sliding right where you two are." Jewel for once now happy, but well as things went… Tulio, much less anyone else, didn't come crashing in to disrupt the three.
"You're right, we don't believe you…" Alice unimpressed.
"I guess we should start calling you crazybird instead." Chloe laughed as she threw another snowball, but Jewel ignored that one as she went right back to panic mode.
"What's going on…" Jewel feeling her heart race as Alice and Chloe eventually got bored and moved on.
Soon enough it was time for Linda to take Jewel to the vet to see what the problem was, Linda closing up shop for the day, Jewel being put in her carrier cage. It was just a short walk to the vet, Jewel seeing all the other pet owners who had their animals for checkups or for any other problems they currently had. Linda took an empty seat putting the cage on her lap as Jewel felt uneasy, like she would be sick, for this all seemed too real to be true.
As Jewel sat in her cage, the vet came out with another patient, speaking to the owner for a little before letting them go, now it was Jewel's turn.
"Hello Linda." The vet greeted as Linda came up to enter on in.
"Hello Dr. Edwards." Linda greeted back.
"So, how's one of my favorite patients doing?" Dr. Edwards asked, looking at Jewel.
"Suddenly not so good, she seems nervous and scared of something." Linda replied as she stepped into the office and sat the cage down on the examining table, unlocking the door to let Jewel out, Jewel a bit nervous to step out first. "It's
okay Jewel, you remember Dr. Edwards right?"
Jewel did, he used to take good care of Jewel whenever she came for checkups, treating her well and gently. "Used to" being the key thing as Jewel wasn't sure what the good vet would do now that she was acting like this, but she had a very good reason, if only she could say it to Linda…
"Alright Jewel, let see what's wrong." Dr. Edwards said as he checked Jewel's heart rate and any signs of injury, which puzzled the vet. "She seems fine… Maybe just a random case of unease and stress."
"So, what should we do?" Linda asked.
"Well, a shot of relaxation medicine should do the trick." Dr. Edwards said as he went to a cabinet and got out a syringe with a needle and some liquid medicine. "If you agree to it Linda?"
"I want Jewel to feel better, so if this helps, than go ahead." Linda giving her permission.
"Great, just hold her still for me, don't want to cause more pain than necessary." Dr. Edwards instructed as Jewel began backing away in fear from the needle, the sharp metal edge shining as it would go through her feathers and into her body.
However there was nothing she could do as Linda held her still and the vet came closer, choosing a spot below her wing in order to hide the injection. As Jewel couldn't do anything, Dr. Edwards put the needle in as Jewel felt her panic go away and she felt relaxed now, feeling her eyes go heavy as she closed them…
As her eyes closed, a faint, but familiar voice spoke to her, getting louder and louder as soon enough Jewel felt someone trying to shake her awake.
"Jewel, Jewel, wake up!" The voice called out as Jewel's eyes shot open to see a blue feathered face staring at her. "Oh thank goodness."
"Blu?" Jewel said as she then gave a huge smile and then hugged him. "Blu! What happened, where am I?"
"We're in Rio silly." Blu told Jewel. "You were shaking and honestly… You kept hitting your wing against my face."
"Oh sorry…" Jewel blushed, feeling embarrassed. "I guess I just had a bad dream… I dreamt I was back in Minnesota and you and the kids never existed, I was back in my old life… Like for real."
"Sounds pretty crazy." Blu replied. "But you're back to real life now." Blu smiled. "Now, can we go back to sleep and this time can you actually sleep and not wake me up?"
"Yeah, I think I can now." Jewel chuckled before giving Blu a loving kiss on the beak. "I love you Blu.
"Love you too." Blu smiled back as Jewel laid back down, falling asleep as Blu joined her, putting his wings around Jewel in order to provide comfort so she could sleep peacefully during the night and avoid anymore bad dreams.
And I'll leave it there! Hope you all enjoyed and don't forget if you have any ideas, leave them down below!
And with that…
See everybird later!
