Chapter 4: The search begins

Littlefoot and Ruby kept as quiet as they can. They only have one chance to find Ali and get the Night Flower. If they get cought, it's all over.

Soon, they found the spot the migrating Longnecks were sleeping in. The two knew they had to extra careful now as they began to sneak passed the sleeping herd. Soon, they carefully walked over the neck of one of the Grown-ups. As they made it over without touching the neck, they saw the face and knew it was the Old One. She was the last one they wanted to cought by.

After Littlefoot and Ruby walked away from the Old One, they found Ali sleeping with her mother.

"Ali. Wake up." Littlefoot whispered to her. That got her up.

"Littlefoot? Ruby?" She asked quietly. "What are you guys doing here?"

"We've got to find the Night Flower." Said Ruby.

"What?" Ali asked out loud.

"Shh. Quiet." Littlefoot whispered.

Without saying another word, Littlefoot and Ruby lead Ali away from the herd and into the forest.

"Will you tell us where to find it?" Littlefoot asked.

"I can't guys." Ali answered. "It's too dangerous. The Land of Mists is filled with horrible monsters. You can't go by yourselves."

"We're not." Said Ruby. "We're gonna ask Cera, Ducky, Petrie, Spike, and Chomper to come with us."

"But what about me?" Ali asked.

"Well, we didn't think you'd want to come because you don't like the others." Said Littlefoot. "And besides. You just said you didn't want to go."

"I'll go. But we can't take the others." Ali replied. "You see, if we go get them, it'll slow us down. Let's hurry. I know the way. The others don't. We have to go now or the Grown-ups will try and stop us."

With that said, the trio left before anyone found them.

The next morning, Chomper was sniffing around for Littlefoot and Ruby. But there was no sent anywhere.

"I can't get any sent from them." He said to the others.

"I can not find them anywhere either." Said Ducky.

"Me no find them either." Said Petrie.

"Oh, they're just hiding from us so they can play with that dumb old Ali." Said Cera.

"I doubt it." Said Chomper. And Spike nodded as he agreed with the young Two-claw.

"Littlefoot! Littlefoot!"

"That is Littlefoot's grandma." Said Ducky. "Something is wrong. It is. It is."

"Littlefoot! Where are you?!" Grandma called. But no Littlefoot. "I'm afraid he's gone to find the Night Flower. Oh my brave Littlefoot."

Meanwhile, Ali was leading Littlefoot and Ruby through the desert in the Mysterious Beyond. Hoping it was the path to The Land of Mists.

"When are we gonna get there?" Littlefoot asked. "We are almost there. Aren't we Ali?"

"Well, sort of." Ali answered.

"Sort of?" Ruby asked.

"You see, my herd has moved around so much, sometimes I lose track of where I was. Or where I've been. But don't worry. I think we go this way." Ali said as she ran over to a rocky path.

Littlefoot and Ruby sighed. This was gonna take forever. But they still followed Ali up the path. In fact, as they got to the top, they saw a huge waterfall with Sky Colors shining off the water from the light of the Bright Circle.

"It's beautiful." Said Ruby.

"Guys. I remember this waterfall." Said Ali. "We are going the right way after all. We just gotta pass though that cave over there."

With that said, Ali lead Littlefoot and Ruby down another path and then back up to the entrance of the cave.

"Wow." Littlefoot said as he looked around. There were stone teeth all over the ground and top of the cave.

However, the three of them didn't have time to admire the cave. They moved on as they began to have a little fun. However, neither one of them were aware that a big mouthed Belly-Dragger (Alligator) and a fathered Sharp-beak (Ichthyornis) were watching them from the water.

But as the three ran across the water, Ali slid to a stop as Littlefoot and Ruby also stopped.

"Why are we stopping Ali?" Ruby asked her.

"Dark water." Ali answered. "It means it's really deep. My mother had carry me over it."

"Is there another way through the cave?" Littlefoot asked.

"I don't know." Ali answered.

"Then we'll just have to go exploring. Race you guys." Littlefoot said as he ran to a path out of the water.

Soon, all three of them were racing. While the Belly-Dragger and Sharp-beak were watching them still in the water.

"That looks like a way to go." Ruby said as she spotted light up ahead.

With that said, the three ran to the light. From there, they passed through another entrance. But,

"Whoa!" Ruby shouted.

The path ahead was nothing but a huge pit with stone teeth at the bottom. And all three of them were on the ledge.

"I think we better go back." Said Littlefoot. But then,

"Go back." Someone else said.

"Who was that?" Ali asked.

"I don't know." Said Littlefoot. "But I think he wants us to leave."

"Who are you?!" Ruby shouted.

"Who are you?" Another one said.

"There's someone else to." Said Ali.

"I'm Littlefoot!" He shouted.

"I'm Littlefoot." The first voice said.

"I'm Ruby!" She shouted.

"I'm Ruby." The second one said.

"You guys can't be down there if you're up here." Ali said to them. "Can you?"

Before Littlefoot or Ruby could answer, something else was happening. The ground was shaking. They then knew what it was.

"Earthshake!" Littlefoot shouted.

Without hesitating, the trio ran away from the ledge as the stone teeth on the top of the cave began to fall. Some of the stone teeth landed in front of them and the ground was cracking. But the three managed to leap over them in time.

However, Ali was the only one who was fast enough to make it away from the falling rocks. As the Earthshake settled down, she stopped to look back to Littlefoot and Ruby. But they weren't with her. They were on the other side of the caved-in wall.

"Littlefoot! Ruby!" Ali shouted as she ran to the wall. "Littlefoot! Ruby! Are you alright?"

No one responded. Ali then tried to move some of the rocks out of the wall. But it did no good.

"I can't do this by myself." Ali said to herself. But she was near the entrance to the cave. She knew she had to go back to the Great Valley to find help. "Don't worry guys. I'll be back."

With that said, Ali ran out of the cave.

Meanwhile, Littlefoot and Ruby were growning in pane as they got up from the ground.

"Ruby." Littlefoot said to her.

"I'm okay Littlefoot. Okay I am." Ruby said to him.

Getting back up, the two saw that they were blocked off from the entrance to the cave. And Ali was on the other side.

"Ali!" The two shouted. But no response.

To make things worse, the Belly-Dragger and the Sharp-beak were on the same side they're on. Both of them waiting to strike their pray.
