Here is a little one-shot I thought up. I'm also deciding that I'll add inspirational quotes here and there in other stories/chapters I make.
Yesterday is History.
Tomorrow is a Mystery.
But today is a gift. That is why it is called the Present.
Master Oogway- Kung Fu Panda
Homesick
To Master Plo, Ahsoka was many things. She was enthusiastic, headstrong, mischievous, and in some cases, he would even consider her his daughter, even though it broke the Jedi Code. Today though, she was none of that. Walking into her clan's dormitory, he expected to see a blur of orange, white and blue to race towards him and wrap herself around him. But for once, she didn't and that made Master Plo worried. Looking around the room, he saw that it was less than tidy, with workbooks and the odd bed cover strewn about the room; that was except for a small area at the back of the room that looked almost untouched. Walking over that area, which he knew to be Ahsoka's bunk, he found her sat on the bed, legs hung over the side with the rest of her body knelt over it, one arm on her knees, the other holding up a datapad. Looking over her shoulder, he saw that she was looking at pictures of her homeworld of Shili. Looking at her face, he could see the faint dried lines of tears over her facial markings, with a couple fresh tears falling as he was watching. From what he could see, it would seem that Ahsoka was homesick, but he would have to make sure.
Placing a hand on Ahsoka's back, which slightly startled her, he sat down beside her and moved his arm from Ahsoka's back so that it instead wrapped around her shoulder's, and pulled her in towards his side so that she was leaning against him.
"Koh-to-yah Little 'Soka." Plo greeted.
"Koh-to-yah Master Plo," Ahsoka replied, a little smile appearing on her face at his nickname for her, which quickly disappeared as she looked back to her datapad. This was really troubling her, Master Plo thought.
"Something is troubling you," Plo said, causing a swift and rushed reply.
"What, no, nothing is troubling me." She answered.
"Ahsoka, I've known you for nearly eleven years. When something is bothering you, I tend to notice." Master Plo explained. With that response, Ahsoka broke, and more tears began rolling down her face.
"I'm sorry Master Plo, it's just that I want to go home, to my real home, I mean. I've been thinking about it for the last week. I don't want to be cooped up here any longer. I just want to experience something familiar. I thought that pictures would do it but it didn't." Ahsoka stuttered, struggling to get the words out.
Upon hearing that, Master Plo looked at Ahsoka, noticing the turmoil within her through the force, he sent feelings of comfort through their bond which had formed when he found her. He had thought that after the circumstances in which he found her, she wouldn't have wanted to go back there. Clearly, that wasn't the case. And in that instance, Master Plo knew what he had to do to get Ahsoka back to her old self. He wasn't one to break the rules, like Padawan Skywalker, but was more of a stickler for them. However, he would break the rules every so often when it came to Ahsoka, and it seemed he would have to break them now.
"Come with me, Ahsoka. And I'll help you with this." Master Plo said, getting up from the bed.
Clearly confused, Ahsoka got up and followed him out the room. Making their way through the halls past many knights, padawans and younglings, before eventually reaching the hangar, where Master Plo made his way over to a Jedi Shuttle, while Ahsoka followed behind him. Taking off, the pair made their way up and out of Coruscant's atmosphere, before jumping into hyperspace. Still confused, Ahsoka turned to look at Plo.
"So where are we going?" She asked.
"You'll have to wait and see, but first, go and get some rest." Was Master Plo's only reply. Knowing that he wouldn't change his mind, Ahsoka left the cockpit, making her way over to a small bed off in the corner, laying down on it, before slowly but surely nodding off.
When Ahsoka woke, it was quiet in the ship. She couldn't hear the sound of Hyperspace, and she couldn't hear the engines of the ship, and she came to the conclusion that they had arrived. Entering the cockpit, she found no sight of Master Plo. Looking out the viewport though she found that they were in a reddish-brown landing bay of some sort. She also spotted Master Plo stood outside with his cloak on, hood down hanging behind his back. Grabbing her cloak, Ahsoka made her way outside and walked over to Master Plo.
"Master Plo, why didn't you wake me when we came out of hyperspace?" she asked as they started to make their way out of the landing bay.
"As I said before, you'll have to wait and see." Was his only reply, before opening the door and walking out into the street. Walking out behind him, the first thing Ahsoka saw was an empty street. Thanks to her hearing, she could hear the bustling noise of the town centre, but to her surprise, Master Plo started walking the other way to the edge of town. Following behind, Ahsoka was still confused as to where they were. It wasn't until they reached the outskirts and stood upon a rocky outcropping. Before them lay a lush savannah filled with turu grass in a variety of reds, oranges and greens, as well as several small trees with red leaves. To the left lay what looked to be an ocean, and to the right she could see a large rainforest, and just behind that, she could see a distant mountain range reaching up into the clouds. Looking back into the savannah, she could see groups of Thimiar jumping through the turu being chased by a group of Togruta wielding Spears and Bows. She also saw several more togruta attacking a couple of Akul as well. It wasn't until she saw the Akuls that she realised she was on her home planet. Dumbstruck, Ahsoka turned to Master Plo, who was looking out to the savannah as well.
"You-You brought me to Shili?" She asked, small tears starting to form at the edge of her eyes.
"I did tell you that I would help you with your homesickness. The only right way to do that was to bring you home." Hearing that Master Plo had done this for her, Ahsoka ran over to Master Plo and grabbed him in a fierce hug, tears of joy now falling down her face.
"Thank you, Master Plo, I love this!" she joyfully replied. Taken aback slightly, Master Plo returned the hug. It always melted Master Plo's heart when he saw Ahsoka happy, and from the reaction he got, it was safe to say that Ahsoka loved being here. Breaking away after a few seconds, Ahsoka moved away before kneeling down in a patch of red and orange turu grass, closing her eyes, and reached out with the force, taking in everything around her, the signatures of the insects, the Thimiars, the Akuls, the trees and turu, and the millions of other Togruta around her. A wide beaming smile came to her face as she opened her eyes and began to lay down in the patch of turu, playing around with the grass with her hands while looking out at the spectacular view in the savannah below.
They remained there for an hour, Ahsoka playing around in the turu grass while Master Plo watched on from a nearby rock, until the sun started to set, casting a mesmerizing orange tint to the landscape. Looking on in awe from the sight, Ahsoka got her datapad out, before taking a picture of the beautiful scenery, even catching a small Pride of Akul moving through the savannah. She then handed her datapad to Master Plo, who took a picture of her standing in front of the sunset, getting the same details in it as the photo Ahsoka took. Handing back the datapad to Ahsoka who put it away, Master Plo started walking back into town with a joyful Ahsoka practically jumping next to him. Passing the landing bay, they walked on into the centre of town, Ahsoka bouncing with exuberance at the sight of being surrounded by her own kind. It had grown dark by the time they reached the town centre, and the sight was breath-taking. Togruta of all colours and markings strolled by in the evening light, under various hanging baskets filled with plants, as well as bright hanging lights as well, illuminating and almost enhancing the sight of their facial markings, almost making them look like they were glowing. Standing in the centre of it all, Master Plo handed Ahsoka some credits.
"Go and spend them wisely. Get some decorations, and some food as well. You are in no doubt hungry I assume." Plo said.
"Yes, Master." She replied, bounding off into one of the stores.
Master Plo watched on as she looked at various styled rugs and tapestries until he heard his commlink buzzing. Pulling out his holoprojector, he activated it, and was met with the image of Master Windu.
/Master Plo, why are you not on Coruscant?/
Looking to where Ahsoka was, he looked back at Master Windu before replying.
/That is for Master Yoda to know, I'm afraid. And I'm sure you commed me about more than where I am./
Master Windu's forehead creased at the response but otherwise replied.
/We are rallying every available Jedi at the Temple. We need to head to Geonosis./
/Geonosis. Why? What has happened?/
/Master Kenobi has been captured by Count Dooku. I would not be surprised if Padawan Skywalker went there as well, despite his mission to protect Senator Amidala./
/Yes, it would indeed be a surprise if Skywalker wasn't there. I'm on my way back to the temple./
/We await your arrival, Master Plo./ Master Windu said, before shutting off the hologram.
Placing his holoprojector away, Master Plo went over to Ahsoka, who was just finishing paying a Food vendor for a cut of Akul steak and some fried nuna legs. Draped over her other arm was a maroon tapestry with Shili's planetary symbol in the centre within a tan circle. Decorating the rest of the tapestry, were orange and white accents, similar to her face markings. Turning back to Master Plo, she handed over any remaining credits that she hadn't spent. Sensing the change in his expression though, Ahsoka knew that something had happened.
"Master Plo, what's happened?"
"We need to go back to Coruscant. Master Windu has requested my presence." Master Plo replied.
"Okay. Can you hold this while I eat my food?" Ahsoka asked, handing over the tapestry, which Master Plo took and draped it over his arm. "Of course Little 'Soka." Master Plo replied, earning a little giggle from Ahsoka. Heading back towards the ship, Ahsoka turned to Master Plo.
"Master Plo?"
"Yes, Little 'Soka."
"Thank you for bringing me here."
"Your welcome, Ahsoka. I'm glad to have helped you deal with your troubles." Master Plo replied, a smile creeping across his face beneath his mask.
Here's a little one-shot of Ahsoka and Plo just before the clone wars. Hope I got my description of Shili right.
