Harry Potter Fanfiction.
Chapter 1
Professor Ponoma Sprout was enjoying her morning tea when an owl suddenly came through her apartment window and perched right on the table in front of her. This would be a very weird occurrence to any normal person; however, this woman wasn't a normal person, she was what would be classified as a wizard. A person who uses a wand could perform wondrous feats.
One such feat Ponoma Sprout had accomplished was taming a rabid owl to follow her every command, she could buy an already trained owl from anywhere, trained owls weren't uncommon. But she did like the sense of accomplishment.
She put down her cup of tea and took the letter out of the owl's hand.
Opening the letter, revealed of course a piece of paper that she started reading.
Dear Professor,
Enlisted down below are a set of names and their location that you will have to visit and give the Hogwarts letter that should be sent by a different owl only a few minutes after the arrival of this letter.
Eric Schweizer
London, 24 Baker St.
Wool's Orphanage
PS. I'm certain the Orphanage caretakers aren't very creative name pickers.
Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore.
Pomona shook her head at Albus's antics, who would say a set of names when there's only one? What a weird old man.
'Well,' she mused, 'at least, this time around there is some child I can visit. Maybe he'll even make a good Hufflepuff.'
She relaxed in her chair, already thinking of ways she could introduce the no doubt muggle-born child into the magical world. It was always fun to see someone's reaction to seeing magic for the first time.
Then, the screeching of another owl that perched right next to the previous owl on the same table distracted her from her daydreaming.
James, or the name he went by now, Eric was currently in his bed sleeping after another exhausting day of trying to get adopted. No billionaire was ever an orphan for a reason, he needed the support of a family to be able to get rich quick. His family, or if he could call him that would be his own little personal sponsor.
Ever since suddenly appearing in the body of an orphan ten years ago, he had made a goal for himself. He would become the most successful man to ever live.
If he might have been born into an anime or fantasy world, he might have tried to help the protagonist, scratch that he wouldn't have, but even so, he was only an eleven-year-old orphan, what was he going to do?
World War II was already over, and even then, he couldn't have done much. He came to this world in 1982, so any important part of history had already happened.
World War I? Check.
World War II? Check.
He wasn't that knowledgeable about many historical events, but nonetheless, there was nothing for him to solve, no man to save, no waifu to protect, no incredibly important information to bring to light.
And that was fine, he never wanted to protect something. He's always wished to be born into some anime, or Disney World, but he'd never wished to be the protagonist of the story, nor the villain, no he just wanted to be the one most profiting off everything and he didn't need to be in some magical land to get it.
In all honesty, being born into a regular world was perfect, he knew where to invest, what company to focus on even if he wanted to run for president, he knew which campaign to run for. This was honestly perfect and all he needed to do was be smart about it.
He would conquer this normal world, and it would be easy and efficient.
That night, he had a dreamless sleep.
The next morning, he found out he was in the Harry Potter World, and all his ambitions and plans were useless in the face of magic.
Eric watched Harry Potter board the train. Harry Potter, an underwhelming name for the protagonist of a magical story, seriously Potter, sounds like a family of pot makers.
He snorted at his own joke, then counted till sixty, waiting one full minute for Harry Potter to hopefully board a compartment in the train, and then boarded the train himself.
The reason was simple, he didn't want to interact with Harry Potter, he didn't mind being acquaintances or friends with Harry Potter. Even being in the golden trio wouldn't be that bad as if Cursed child was to be believed, they all became very successful.
Still, he would prefer if he stayed out of the friendship circle of Harry Potter if he didn't die by the time Voldemort was truly dead, there was no true way to know Harry was successful other than the fact that Harry could afford to buy his children good clothes and books for Hogwarts.
He like many others didn't consider Cursed Child cannon, though he was prepared to go on a killing spree for time turners just in case after Voldemort's death.
He started looking through the windows of compartment after compartment, in hopes of finding one that was empty or at least didn't have full passengers.
Any ones he did find that had one or two passengers were seniors that looked to be couples, so he skipped them.
After a while of searching, he found the only compartment that looked to have two boys which looked to be first years.
Mentally preparing himself for endless conversation, he entered the compartment with a fully scripted line.
"Can I come inside, everywhere else is – "
"Full? Yeah, same to me. Come in."
He stepped inside, realizing that the two boys were Harry Potter and Ronald Weasley, the main and lesser protagonist. Thankfully, he was good enough of an actor that he didn't give any outward sign of recognition.
"Yeah, this compartment was the only one that wasn't full, or at least didn't have a couple inside."
"Yeah, I swear it took me half an hour to find this compartment," spoke the red-haired boy, "I don't really recognize you, are you muggle-born?"
"Muggleborn? Oh, you mean like with no wizard parents. Well, I'm an orphan, so I wouldn't know."
"Sorry."
"Eh, it doesn't really matter to me. I've learned to look past it. Anyway, my names Eric."
"I'm Harry and this is Ron."
"Oh, you should also take some sweets if you want." Said Ron, gesturing to the sweets around him, "Hey, Fred and George gave me a spell to turn a rat yellow, I tried it yesterday, but it didn't work, want to see?" said the boy.
"Yeah!" said Harry excited to see his first spell.
Eric scurried forward along with Ron and Harry to the giant man holding a lantern, shouting for kids to follow him to the boats.
If Eric didn't already know what to expect, he might have been scared, but he did know what to expect so he went to the boats like Hagrid asked.
The ride was uneventful other than the occasional kid who fell in the river only to be put back in the boat by the Giant Squid.
He made small talk with Harry and Ron, whilst also being flabbergasted by the appearance of Hogwarts. The castle in person looked the same as the castle in the films, however, the size was still very large.
Finally, after a lot of following, they were facing Professor McGonagall.
"Welcome to Hogwarts," said the Professor. "the start-of-term banquet will begin shortly, but before you take your seats in the Great Hall, you will be sorted into your houses. The Sorting is a very important ceremony because, while you are here, your house will be something like your family within Hogwarts. You will have classes with the rest of your house, sleep in your house dormitory, and spend free time in your house common room."
James mentally reviewed what she would say next and was disappointed to know that what she really said was different. The concept was the same, but the format was different, this meant that his knowledge of Harry Potter would eb incredibly diluted, and most likely just a bit off.
It had been ten years and he hadn't ever once thought of the series, it was an amazing feat, he could even remember the story.
"- wait quietly." Finished the professor.
James started blocking out all the other people around him which were completely disregarding the Professor's request.
'I will most likely go to Slytherin… I'm just too ambitious to not go, and I could even have come from a Wizarding family.' He was internally sweating, trying to figure out if going to Slytherin would be good or not.
'I can't do anything about it, I don't have Occlumency, and even if I had been training my Occlumency, the sorting hat would most definitely be able to – the sorting hat… it'll be able to see inside my head… or will it? No, no. It couldn't see Harry's Horcrux, so that means that it probably only sees the qualities of a person.' He started reassuring himself. 'If it had to see inside the mind of a person to figure out their qualities, then surely it would take longer to sort Draco Malfoy, it would have to at least take some time to figure out where one person lies.'
"Move along now," said a sharp voice. "The Sorting Ceremony's about to start."
Professor McGonagall had returned.

AN1: I'm writing this cause honestly, it's easier to write this than my other fanfiction of Naruto which takes place WAY BACK. Especially when I've butchered the characterization for that fic. So, in this one. I'll try to make it way better, I also really like this chapter, very normal for a starting Self Inset Fanfiction. Though, the classification would be more like SI OC cause the characters honestly hardly like me.
AN2: Give me some reviews on what you like, what you hate. I'm also winging this one like my other fic, but this is way easier to wing, also the reason for any people from my other fanfiction, the reason I haven't been posting, is because the corona just appeared in my house. My mother has it, though, she is becoming better very fast, so nice.
