Chapter 13- The Middle

It's been about a few weeks and Nakabi seems to be getting better. She was lucky to not catch a fever because I am not equipped with any type of medicine. We went out for a walk to the river. I was just going to catch some fish but with her by my side I can't rely on Isobu. Still I think I can handle something as simple as fishing. We arrived at the river and I set my things down. I got my line ready and let it out into the water. I sat there patiently waiting for a bite while also keeping an eye on the woman. She was sitting down on the edge of the water with her feet hanging down. I gotten to learn more about her and well seems like she was living a tough life. She lost her father during the great ninja war. All she had was her mother and her two brothers. One day, her youngest brother grew ill and her mother couldn't afford to take him in. So they prayed and hope that he recovers with ease. In the end they had to put him to rest. Tragic thing to hear and so Nakabi joined the ninja academy. She grew high with respect from her people. A very well trained person from what I am hearing. Sooner she grew to the rank she's currently in. Then she told me a plan that their Kage is doing. What she was informed was that they are searching for one of the mythical tailed beasts. They want to use their power to help their land but for me I know their true purpose.

I caught a fish then another and another. In the end I caught about seven fish and called it a day. I gather what I had and headed back to my home. Nakabi followed behind. We arrived back at my home and Nakabi went to shower herself off. During these weeks I've made some upgrades to my home. I added a bathroom, a kitchen, and a second room for quest. That's where Nakabi is sleeping. I began dissecting the fish and put them on a homemade grill that I made. I also added some vegetables to grill. I got those along the walk. Soon dinner was finished and I place our meal on the table. Nakabi got out and dressed herself up. Now her clothes, I had to fetch at the leaf village. I didn't bring her with me because I don't want to give a disturbing feeling. I got the right size of her outfit and before I left the village I made a few stops.

She sat down and we thanked our meal for today. It was a great meal I'll say and she did quite enjoy it. Then I asked her a question.

"Nakabi, are you ready to go home?"

"Yeah but why don't I stay here for a bit longer."

"Well any longer your village might send a search party to find you."

She gave an odd expression about what I said. So I continued.

"Is there something wrong?"

"Oh no it's nothing."

"Hmm, I can tell something is up. Was there another story to your expression?"

"Um well to be honest no one really likes me. I grew up from the poor side and many looked down on me. Still I did give some good points to my superiors but many of the students think I cheated my way through. I was bullied, harassed, and my own home was a place for the students to trash up. Still I ignored it all and kept going forward. One day though during my teenage year's one of the males tried to have their way with me. I broke his arms and well I was to blame for it. Even when I said it was self-defense, his mother had the money to change that. Money really puts a smile on your face they said. But what I saw was just nonsense. Still even when I became an Anbu many still think I cheated my way through or something more than that. During the ambush I can clearly see under their mask that they didn't worried about me. When I was separated from them, they didn't even notice or looked at my direction. I thought I was going to die until you came along. I'm glad a fine man like you came to help me."

"A fine man you say. Heh, those are words of an older woman."

"Well my mom said to be respect all that respect you."

Then a sudden knock came from the door. I got up and slid it open. What stood in front of me was an Anbu ninja with two other right behind him. He asked me.

"Hello sir, we are wondering if perhaps you found any kind of disturbance around this area."

"Who am I speaking for?"

"For the Hidden Mist village. Our recon team were sent to-"

He notice Nakabi sitting down near the table. She didn't look at him.

"Hey Nakabi is that you? Here we thought we gotten rid of you but turns out you were living with this old man. Sheesh you must be really low to be staying here just like your home."

This man in front of me may not notice but Nakabi is holding in her anger. Though I had my reasons. I punch the man in his face breaking his mask. Left a good mark on his nose. His friends got him up and they took out their weapons.

"How dare you attack me old man!"

"I'm only thirty five but I guess I still have to teach brats like you a lesson."

-Minutes later-

They all gotten scared of my power and left my home. I laughed as they went on. But soon Nakabi was walking out and leaving. So I asked.

"Where are you going?"

"I have to leave. I feel if I stay here longer I may cause more trouble. Besides my mom is probably worried sick for me. So I'll be seeing you later. But here have this to remember me by."

She kissed me on my cheek and soon was gone in within the trees. I smiled a bit and went back into my home. I closed the door and sat down in a meditation position. There I met with Isobu in the void. We talked.

"You know this puts us at a greater risk."

"I know Isobu but I think our time might come."

"You're not going to move away?"

"No because if I were too then her and her mother might be in danger."

"That is true. Then I am okay with this. If you need to than give them hell with my powers."

"Hehe, I sure will."

So I rested long that night and it wasn't till two months that it finally came.
