Watching the city explode in flames and hearing the approaching footsteps of the mutated dinosaur, a chuckling Satuyama raised his wine glass in a toast to what he saw as the spectacle of the century.

This would be remembered months from now on New Years Eve, well before the clock struck midnight and the new millennium set in, assuming the world survived any looming apocalyptic events that were to come. His camera still lay upon the table, ready to be used for picture-taking.

As Godzilla's footsteps shook the earth, it shook the building and almost caused several, perfectly-stacked books to fall off their shelves, not to mention a nicely-polished antique glass from Ancient China.

Even a portrait of the late Emperor Hirohito that hung on the wall shook on its hinges, staying on straight even as a picture of Satuyama's late mum Sahshara 'Pelayokita' Hoshytamu fell over near the edge and a used beer glass clattered to the floor.

At long last, the beast came into view outside the window and Satuyama picked up his camera to snap the picture of Godzilla against the fiery backdrop.

The camera lights flashed as Satuyama pressed the button, taking the picture. But this came at the price of attracting the dinosaur's attention, halting his advance. Godzilla turned and, for the first time since 1944, Satuyama and the beast were staring into each other's eyes.

The beast seemed to recognize him, a look of recognition and reminiscing in his eyes. Satuyama gazed upon the visage of his old friend, accepting that he'd long changed. Godzilla was much different, he was now a living nuclear weapon, destined to destroy civilization.

Acknowledging his seemingly inevitable fate, knowing he had been foolish to stay in a city being consumed by the early stages of a potential Kaiju Apocalypse, Satuyama nodded and closed his eyes as Godzilla roared, straight up expecting the beast to tear down the building. But instead, the monster turned and began walking away.

Satuyama opened one eye and, when he saw his old friend leaving, breathed a sigh of relief. A bit too soon as that was when Gojira's swinging tale smashed through the base of the building, as Hoshytamu Tower crumbled to rubble, Satuyama let out a yell of terror as the floor gave out beneath his feet and the whole world went dark all about him.

Not bothering to glance back at the ruins of that building, Godzilla assumed the man from a distant past he thought he remembered was nothing more than an empty husk, lost to rubble, and let out a menacing roar that shook the world more so than his footsteps which shoved the memories of a previous radioactive-free life off to the side somewhere within his mind.

He was not that puny creature, he'd never fully been weak and vulnerable to conventional weapons. Bombs had no effect on him, neither did bullets. He was not a peaceful dinosaur, he was Godzilla; Destroyer of Worlds, the King of All Monsters and the Harvenger of Doom.

Nothing was going to stand in his way, not that turtle and not those "arrogant, little" humans with their "puny weapons" as well as those light-flashing nuclear bombs.

Godzilla halted his advance to tear down another tall building which crumbled to the ground, just like many of the other buildings he'd destroyed, before letting loose with his atomic ray of doom upon more city districts again.

Somewhere amongst the devastation, civilians screamed as they were engulfed in flames or crushed by collapsing rubble, music to Godzilla's ears and his black heart.

But thanks to being engulfed in rage and his thirst for destruction, almost all thoughts of hunting down the fire-breathing turtle were shoved to the back of his small mind.

And speaking of Gamera...

The sound of something spinning through the air, accompanied by the noise of approaching flying saucer engines, caught Godzilla's attention as he spotted a small speck in the sky that got larger and larger as it got closer.

Once it was in full view, Godzilla recognized it all too well as the flying form of that gigantic turtle monster. He'd found his rival, well, technically his rival found him.

Always detecting radioactive energy surges and looking for heat sources, Gamera had been waiting high in the dark sky, waiting for Godzilla to unleash his radioactive power. Now that the mutated dinosaur had done so, Gamera was ready to attack him again.

Finally, Godzilla thought, a rematch. I hope I can destroy this bastard this time. "GYAO-SKREEEEEeeeeeOOOOOoooNNNNNnnnK!"

Civilians who'd barely survived the storm of destruction so far amongst the rubble looked up in time to see Gamera coming down upon the city.

As the turtle approached the ground and ceased spinning, his retracted limbs shooting flames becoming thrusters that prepared his descent to the ground, even causing wind storms which people scrambled to avoid.

Completely intact cars and tanks went flying and smashed into buildings, even crashing into Gojira's legs, shattering into bits and pieces upon impact.

Seconds ticked by as the wind picked up and soon, Gamera's arms emerged, followed by his legs... The gigantic Atlantian tortoise made touch down, people scattered, the whole world shook and more wind blew.

Car alarms went off and truck horns blared, a bus carrying refugees caught up in the chaos was crushed underneath Gamera's weight, within minutes, a kaiju had taken many lives more so than Godzilla...

Gamera reared back, standing upright on all twos, glaring at his non-turtle counterpart, the one who had thrown him into a volcano in an attempt to eliminate him on Oshima Island. Godzilla growled with satisfaction now that he had a chance to continue the battle with his rival before him, his eyes burned with rage and fury.

"AHHHHRRRAAAAAAAHHHRRRRRRR!" Gamera bellowed, stomping the pavement beneath his feet. "SKREEEEEEEEEEEEEEERNK!"

Godzilla howled back, "GYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAONK! GRRR! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRNK! AYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeOOOOOOOOOOOOORNNNNNGK!"

Thunderclouds loomed overhead, lightning flashing in the dark sky, completing the setup of the backdrop for the ultimate battle between titans. Fires raged all over most of Tokyo, smoke rising from the flames into the cloudy sky.

Somewhere below, reporters and onlookers seemed to recognize the giant turtle and were speculating that Gamera and Godzilla had a history and a rivalry going back thousands and thousands of years prior.

Many of the speculators were American professors who were in Japan to lecture at universities in Tokyo, only to get caught up in it all and ended up speaking with the news crews and reporters on the scene.

"Whatever happens, no matter what, regardless of any danger," 47 year old Professor Lloyd Zemekis told the news and those watching in their homes far off, speaking of the Godzilla vs. Gamera conflict, "We must stand clear and let the battle unfold on its own without interference, let them fight.

"The ongoing conflict between these two reptiles has raged for centuries, all the way from the prehistoric wastelands to the ruins of ancient civilizations to barren islands all the way to a utopian city that is being reduced to an apocalyptic ruin, I believe the final battle is about to commence and, whatever happens, let us hope we are saved from certain doom."

Gamera, not wishing to wait another minute longer for his rival to start the fight, growled menacingly and took a deep breath, charging up a fireball attack within. Godzilla roared, sensing what was about to happen, and promised that he would not let Gamera be the first to launch an attack.

Gathering all his strength, regardless of his bulky tank-like status, Godzilla charged the gigantic tortoise, eager to head-butt him and knock him over. The only difference with their battleground pick; It wasn't a small island, there was no active volcano and the ocean was not nearby.

So one of them had to muster all they strength they could, Godzilla was confident he could end Gamera and the turtle was confident he could annihilate Godzilla himself.

Just before Gamera could unleash a barrage of fire, Godzilla rammed into the turtle, knocking him over on his back. Gamera screamed in alarm as he toppled over, unleashing a gigantic fireball into the sky that impacted with an airplane flying over, taking out hundreds of people on board.

Within seconds, as the flaming pieces of the plane crashed to the ground below, all the passengers were gone, nothing left of them but their belongings and a few charred limbs. If there was any drops of blood left from the victims of the disaster, the fire took care of it.

"Oh my golly!" Exclaimed a female American news reporter, observing the scene.

"Mike, did you get that, did you see what just happened." The reporter continued her report, "The giant turtle known as Gamera, when rammed by Godzilla, just shot an airplane out of the sky. I dunno how many people were on board, but I can figure that, technically, all of the passengers are toast.

"There's going to be lots of memorials over the weekend for those who are now no longer with us all in this world. Now I think its best we all evacuate the area before the monster fighting escalates, in order to avoid getting trampled on by any one of them. This is Emily Cena of Globalwide American News reporting, live from Tokyo Japan."

Getting back on his feet just as Godzilla roared and beat his torso like a gorilla, an enraged Gamera attacked the King of the Monsters, eager to clobber the mutated dinosaur.

Seeing the attack was coming, Godzilla held up his hands and blocked Gamera's incoming fists, lightning flashed across the cloudy and darkened sky as they struggled like sumo wrestlers for position, Godzilla was desperate to keep Gamera at bay long enough to attack him and Gamera was desperate to clobber the heck out of this ugly dinosaur beast.

Both monsters growled at each other, eyes blazing with rage, contempt/hatred and fury.

As the beasts struggled for the upper hand, their feet scratched the pavement of the streets beneath them, wrecking the asphalt in the process. Snorting, steam billowing from their nostrils, Godzilla took a deep breath, absorbing any residing radiation in the air, and prepared to blast his nemesis in the face with his Atomic Ray again, hoping it would be enough to end this.

Gamera also took a deep breath, preparing to blast Godzilla with a fireball. Streetlights and other lights that had shut off a bit earlier flickered on and off, soldiers held on to trees and people ducked for cover, worried that the beasts' attack would set off a massive explosion.

Godzilla fired his atomic ray right into Gamera's face, taking the heat and fire up to maximum just as Gamera was getting ready to fire a gigantic fireball. Gamera shrieked in alarm, absorbing some of Godzilla's nuclear blast at the price of getting his facial flesh burnt off, exposing his skeletal face beneath for a few seconds.

Gamera staggered back, still charging his fireball, however, Godzilla's attack did cause the grip lock between the two titans to break, but it did not change that a partially blinded and healing Gamera blasted Godzilla in the face with fire.

"GYAAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONGK!" Godzilla howled, the pain causing his rage to build even more, which meant one thing; He was going to go all out with his atomic ray.

As the flesh over Gamera's face regenerated, the gigantic turtle roared again, challenging and taunting Godzilla, anticipating the ancient dinosaur's next foolhardy attack on him.

With one battle cry, the King of all Monsters charged, eager to ram Gamera and send him flying, in hopes of setting him up for his biggest attack yet. Gamera, sensing and anticipating what was coming, shot fireballs from his mouth at Godzilla's feet, hoping to slow him down.

It failed and Gamera was knocked down hard off his feet by a sucker punch to the face and the swing of a tail, heck, Godzilla twirled around and whacked Gamera with his tail after punching him.

The Last Survivor of Atlantis struggled to get to his feet, but he wasn't fast enough as Godzilla picked Gamera up by his tail and started slamming him on the ground before swinging him in a circle and then sent Gamera flying through the air a good nine feet before the turtle crashed down upon a movie theater, located just near the Japanese government building, crushing the surrounding area.

Godzilla stepped forward, his dorsal plates radiating and glowing blood red with radioactive energy, causing the temperature to drop from 60 degrees to 30 degrees, resulting in the night air becoming cold with radioactivity.

Atop the rubble and crushed bodies, a weakened Gamera, barely recovering from it all, struggled to get to his feet. If there was one thing he could sense about to happen, he could sense his nemesis about to unleash a huge ton of nuclear plasma upon the vicinity.

The intended target and victim of the ultimate attack?

Oh turtle snap. Gamera rolled his eyes, face palming himself with annoyance, here it comes again. He knew that Godzilla's attack was going to be more stronger than it was ever before...
