This fanfic is loosely based on the book Warlord by Angela Knight. I was re-reading it and it scream Ben and Rey to me so thought why not try and do something along the same line. I do not own either star wars or the warlord story.

Sorry for everyone waiting for an update on my wolf fanfic. i have lost the motivation for that story but I am trying to work through it.

Rey awoke to the sound of her phone ringing. The number flashed POE. Groaning she quickly swiped the screen up to answer. "Niima get your ass out of bed and get over to the station there has been another one. "
"Got it Poe give me 15 and I'll be there." She threw her phone on the bed without answering and quickly got dressed, brushed her hair quickly sticking it up in a messy bun. Grabbed the phone off the bed and rushed downstairs to her car. Her ginger cat - BB, meowing at her disturbing his sleep. Within minutes of the call she was on the road.

Lights flashed as she pulled up at the station, Poe greeted her outside the station. He opened her passenger door and hopped in. "Another one? Where?" She asked as she reversed the car. "Maz's old barn. Was found by her, she rang as soon as she found the body. Poor Maz is in so much shock." Rey felt herself become distraught. Maz basically raised Rey. Why would anyone use her barn as a location to kill an innocent person.? She couldn't even think of our Maz was feeling. Rey sped her way to the barn, running red lights, there wasn't much traffic being this time of night in a small town so she could be careless, even though she shouldn't be. Rey just wanted to get to Maz as quickly as possible.

Rey could see the police lights flashing out in the distance. Pulling up, Poe and her got out and headed straight to the body, ignoring the questions that the news stations were asking. Thankfully they had already covered it up with a blanket. Good that will stop the news reporters from getting a photo of the victim.
"Officer Niima, Officer Dameron." Their lieutenant greeted them, handing them a clipboard. Rey nodded to him, knowing very well those reporters would be trying to lip read. The clipboard held all the details of the victim.

:Victim-Female.
:Early20' Brown hair, brown eyes.
: Cuts to the body, signs of struggling. DNA's samples taken from the victim nails.
: No identification found on body.
:Cause of death - Strangulation.

Rey closed her eyes and handed the clipboard to Poe. "Is Maz here, I would like to talk to her."
"She is inside, Officer Finn is inside with her."
She took off to the house, walking briskly.

Upon entering the house she noticed Finn get up and head over to her, "Hey Peanut. How are you?"
"Could be better Finn. How is she?"
"Shaken up for sure. I'll let you two talk it out."
Finn embraced her in a hug and left the two women alone.

"Hello Maz."
"Rey. I would say it is nice to see you but under the circumstances it would not be appropriate." Maz stared at the girl.
"I am so sorry you have to be the one who found this poor girl."
"I ...I heard a noise. Usually I go and find some randy teenagers in there, that barn always attracts them and so I didn't think to much of it. But then I heard a scream and I rushed out there. Found that poor girl. I rang and as soon as I hung up I raced over to the stable to get a blanket from the horses to cover the girl. The nosey news were here just after the first car pulled up. I wish I had gotten out there sooner."
"Oh Maz it's not your fault. I am sorry I wasn't here." Rey sat next to the smaller lady and hugged her. She wanted to say more but it felt wrong. She was happy Maz had not gotten hurt though.

Time passed and the two women just chatted. Rey knew if she was needed they would come get her. Shortly after, the body was removed and Maz was told to come down to the station in the morning to recall the details. They didn't want to push her tonight.

"I'm gonna stay here tonight with Maz." Rey told Finn and Poe when they came to say goodbye.
"We'll see you when you clock in then. Good night Maz." After a round of hugs they left the women alone.
Maz went to her room and Rey could hear her sniffling. The night was going to be long for sure.

Ben grit his teeth as the beam ripped through him. It burnt his skin, but he didn't scream or curse. It felt like it went on for hours but it was a mere minutes and it stopped. He placed his gloved hand to his head and took a couple of deep breaths.
The air seemed fresher, cleaner then the one from home.

"Nice to see you made it." Ben glared at the ginger hair man in front of him. Kylo growled beside him.
"Hux, I see you couldn't be nicer in this time either."
"I am not here to be nice, I am here to educate your stubborn ass about the next target. So hurry up and clear that head of yours and get your asses over here."
"Still an asshole" Kylo mumbled and Ben nodded.
The men took their time getting out of the time booth. They were used to jumping but it always took a toll on their bodies. Ben and Kylo made their way to Hux. After rolling his eyes and cursing at them he finally passed them a holopad.

"Identification Needed" It chimed and Ben placed his thumb to the screen followed by Kylo " Welcome Ben Solo and Kylo Ren."
Hux pushed a button on his and it synced with Ben's, he swiped up and a 3D projection of a young lady popped up.
"Target FN2187 as known as Rey Niima. Age 26. Current target for Jumper. Objective - Save Rey Niima from being killed. She currently lives alone in the small town of Jakku." The projection of Rey turned on the holopad and Ben couldn't take his eyes off of her. He would save her. Kylo looked at his brother and at the holopad. The reading he was getting from his partner was unusual, something along the lines of lust.

"At this current moment in time we can say Target FN2187 is not home so I suggest you two get going, scoop out her place, get to know her a bit more via the holopad. Just find her, protect her and kill the Jumper. The last thing we need is you two causing a time paradox.
"And how do you suggest we kill a Jumper? We couldn't bring any weapons with us Hugs!" Kylo said with a sarcastic tone, looking at his empty weapon holsters.
Hux could have went red from the amount of anger flowing through him and Kylo laughed at how this was affecting him. Ben shook his head at his partner, Kylo also loved pissing off Hux.

It was amusing some days but today Ben was to captive by the girl on the holopad. She wasn't very different from the women in his time but something in him just wanted to protect her and he would. He promised himself that he fail her. The verbal fighting of Hux and Kylo snapped him out of staring at her longer.
"We were able to bring you some weapons from this time through. If we bought anything to advanced it would have been catastrophic." A table was wheeled out, on it was several small weapons.
Ben eyed off the biggest one once the table stopped he picked it up. "Ah I see you have chosen M4 Carbine, this type of weapon is apparently used in the army. Not as effective as our weapons back home but will slow down the Jumper."
"How can we stop him if he can jump through time quicker then we can.?" Ben asked looking at the gun. He like it.
Hux handed the men a small bag each. "Inside these bags are Force Rings. Place them on the ground and they will form a field around him, halting his jumping for a couple of seconds, enough time for you to disable him"

"You two will have to find a way to get to Jakku tonight. We leaving to set up base just outside the town limits."
"You can't take us?" Kylo growled at Hux.
"Oh I could but as you said I'm an asshole. See ya." With that the Ginger walked away. Signaling the others to start packing up and to leave.
"Fuck sucks Kylo you couldn't be nicer?" Ben smirked at his brother. "Where the fuck would the fun be in that Ben. Come on lets see if we can do this thing they call "Hitchhiking" eh" Kylo said walking off following the lights of a truck from the compound.

It took two hours for Ben and Kylo to get a ride into Jakku.
Within the couple minutes it took to locate and break into the Rey Niima's house and look around. Upon entering they noticed to the left was a a lounge room, they kept walking till they got to the kitchen.

"I'm heading upstairs. You stay here and get the lay out." Ben said leaving his brother in the kitchen.
He took the stairs two at a time, there were three bedrooms. Didn't the Holopad say she lived alone. He was curious why one woman would need three bedrooms.
Ben used his heighten smell to find her room. The bed was a mess, he clothing scattered over the floor. Ben followed the room around to a small bathroom. It smelt unnatural, it stung his noise.

Looking around her personal quarters he saw it was bare, apart from a bed and some shelves it didn't hold anything personal, no photos of loved one. Just clothing, a few books, some paper and what his readers told him was a radio.

"BEN there something down here" Kylo yelled for downstairs. Ben rushed down prepared for the jumper instead he was greeted with a ball of ginger fur.
"What the fuck is that." Kylo asked as he retracted his claws. "It fucking bit me when I went to touch it."
His reader was telling him it was a cat, a animal that people in this time kept as pets. Ben didn't have time to tell his brother that though.

"It's a cat motherfucker. What the fuck are you doing in my house.?" A female voice sounded behind them, they turned in sync to see a gun pointed at them and the person holding the gun was Rey Niima.
