None of these characters belong to me. They all belong to Rick Riordan.
Annabeth couldn't breathe. Water filled her lungs, and she was starting to freak. Stay calm, she told herself. She started to move her arms, going up. About a quarter of the way there, she lost all her energy.
This is it. This is how I'm going to die, she thought. Suddenly she saw a person around her age. Sea green eyes and dark hair.
Percy. He grabbed her and she got a sudden boost of energy. They started paddling to the top.
When they reached the surface, Annabeth gasped for air. People on the beach were clapping and cheering. She made it.
She was exhausted, but managed to make it back to her beach chair. Her arms felt like they were going to fall off, and her legs seemed dead.
Her friends started running up to her, as well as a girl she didn't know. The girl had dark hair and dark eyes. Despite being around Annabeth age, she had a tattoo on her arm.
"Are you okay?" People asked. Strangers, little kids, everyone asked her that. Annabeth felt a bit overwhelmed, but nodded.
Finally, Percy asked her. For some reason that made her heart pump faster, and she got really annoyed at that.
"You okay?" he asked, sounding genuinely concerned. "Y-yeah," she said. "Just a bit tired, but otherwise I'm fine."
Some girls started to surround Percy, flirting with him and twirling their hair. Even though he didn't seem to like any of them, Annabeth couldn't help but feel annoyed.
"That was very brave," one girl said. "Uhm, yeah." Percy said. They started giggling.
Annabeth and the others felt a bit awkward, so they left the scene. Right before they left, Percy shot them a glance. Annabeth caught the message. His eyes pleaded, help me.
Annabeth laughed without humor, and left.
Later, Percy met up with them. "Guys, you left me with... t-them!" He complained. While everyone else was holding in laughs, Annabeth was a bit bitter.
Why didn't he just leave them earlier? She thought. Percy looked over at her. His eyes twinkled with mischief, and he smirked.
Annabeth could feel girls eyes on her, but she didn't care.
"Anyways, you guys interested in ice cream?" Piper asked. They nodded, and head off to their seperate cars. Girls in one, boys in the other.
Right before they left, Percy ran up to Annabeth.
"Hey, sorry about yeeting you into the water. I didn't know you couldn't swim, and I'm really sorry." He said. His eyes looked so sorry, Annabeth forgave him right away.
"It's fine." She said. Percy looked up. "You forgive me?" He asked. Annabeth nodded. "Thank you, thank you, thank you!" He said. Annabeth laughed, and headed for the car.
Percy waved. He then ran to his car. When he opened the door, he saw Nico and Will bickering. He closed that door, and got in the front.
"Annie! Come on!" Calypso yelled. "Coming!" Annabeth responded, and they left for the ice cream shop. When they left, Annabeth looked back at the beach.
For a second, she saw two adults. One with black hair, and grey eyes like hers. The other was a male, and had green eyes and dark hair.
Annabeth blinked. She looked again, and they were gone.
