"Prove yourself that you're not a burden to the family." Those were the last words my dad said to me before taking the train. Not something you would say to your youngest son, but honestly I expected it. He always praised Nicholas and neglected me completely. I don't hate my brother for it. It's not his fault that he is a prodigy. In fact, I admire him. It's because of his natural born skills that I took up into becoming a professional jockey. However, there was an accident and I fell from the horse. Causing me to be paralyzed from the waist down. If I was neglected before, I was now invisible. The only reason I'm even attending the academy, it's because apparently I have a potential to develop a Stand.

Who is this Doomer you may not be wondering? My name is Johnathan Joestar. Though I introduce myself as Johnny, since I have a distant relative with the same name and don't want to get each other mixed up. I'm only nineteen years old and I'm already having a "midlife crisis".

I'm currently heading to the Valentine Academy. Which is founded by our current president Funny Valentine. He is so well loved by the public, that he's currently serving his fourth term. Making him the first president to ever stay in office that long. Honestly, I don't know what they see in him. He probably has skeletons in the closet, like diddling children. Don't have evidence to support it. Just a gut feeling.

The train stops and comes in the last person I expected to see. It's Poco Loco. He notices me.

"Yo! Johnny!" He runs up to me and we clasp our hands together.

"Poco? What are you doing here?"

"Hah! I went to the fortune teller a couple weeks ago and told me if I applied, great fortune awaits me. One in a million, baby!" He laughs wholeheartedly. Poco and I have been friends for a long time. Unlike me, he always sees the brightside in every situation no matter how dire. Probably the only reason we're even close. Maybe he feels pity for me. Well, whatever his motives may be, I'm just glad to see someone familiar tagging along. He sits next to me and looks around excitedly. I take this opportunity to put on my headphones.

Intro: Jerk It Out - Caesars

We finally arrive at our destination. In front of the gates of the academy.

"Welp. See ya inside, Johnny." Poco pats my back and jogs inside the building. I wanted to ask if we can go together, but I'm sure he has important things to do and I don't want to burden him.

"Hm?" Someone is stumbling around and panting heavily on the sidewalk. He's covered from head to toe in sweat. The behemoth of a man wipes his face with his golden hair. How unsanitary.

"Let me in. LET ME IIIIIIIIN!" He shouts while grasping the fence.

"...The entrance is open." I point at the gate. He glares at me with his green eyes. Now I'm starting to regret saying anything.

"Tch. I knew that." He snarls and goes inside. These are the kinds of people that are attending? Hopefully I don't bump into that weird guy. I wheel myself in.

New faces, old connections

I go into my classroom and scan around. Only a couple are in here. Wait…

"Johnathan?" I say out loud. He turns and runs up to me.

"Johnny!? What a pleasant surprise. I didn't expect to see you here." He hugs me. This is my cousin that I share the name with. He lives in England, so he has a fancy english accent.

"You and me both." I break the hug. "What brings you far from home?"

"Well my mentor, William Zeppeli, thinks I can improve my Hamon if I study in this prestigious university. I came here with his grandson." He points at the blonde man with feathers on his head. He is currently scolding at the man from earlier. Oh please don't tell me he's my classmate.

"What the hell were you thinking!? Why couldn't you take the train like the rest of us, instead of walking all the way here!? Now you're covering the room with your rancid stench!" He's giving him an earful.

"I already told you to mind your fucking business!" The behemoth screams back. They're now having a shouting match. I can already tell this is not going to be a peaceful year.

"Eeh excuse them. They can be hot tempered at times." Understatement of the century, Jonathan. "The one with the feathers is Ceasar Zeppeli and the other fellow with the hat is Gyro Zeppeli. They are cousins just like you and me." I guess nepotism is what got that Gyro guy in here. Someone covers my eyes from behind me.

"I bet your next line is going to be "I know it's you Joseph", right?" I know it's you Joseph...Huh!? I pull the hands off to see his goofy grin.

"Hah! Based on your reaction, I'd say I was right on the money." Joseph poses dramatically. Great. The clown is also here too.

"What is this? A family reunion?" I say.

"That's not surprising. The Joestar family are known to be very prestigious, full of talented people." Jonathan pipes up. "Though I must admit, it is surprising to see you here."

"What's that supposed to mean!?" Joseph angrily scowls and we laugh. Not much longer, the room quickly fills with more students. Then the last person I ever thought of seeing waltzes in.

"Good morning fellow Americans and others!" It is the president himself. "Let me first say that it is indeed a pleasure to meet the future citizens of this country." You've got to be kidding me. I raise my hand. "Questions will be answered at the end of my speech."

"I just want to know why you're here. Shouldn't you be at the Oval office signing laws or something?" We stare at each other for an uncomfortable amount of time.

"I have already passed all my policies in my first term. Which gives me free time to be your dedicated principal of the academy. Now stand up for the Pledge of Allegiance." No surprise, everyone but me stand up. He is glaring at me. Joseph and Johnathan hoist me up and they let me lean on their shoulders. "Hands on your chest." He commands. I am definitely on his shit list. Don't worry, you're on mine too. Johnathan helps me put my hand on my chest.

"I hate you." I tell it to him straight. His expression doesn't change.

"OOOOOOH Say can you seeee~!" He starts singing the anthem. This is DEFINITELY going to be a long year.
