I couldn't believe it. Annabeth messages me that she would now be hanging out with Luke. I threw myself on my bed, and stared at the wall. My phone beeped.

The group wanted to meet up at the beach. Again. I agreed to go, but only to get my mind off her.

"Heading out!" I yelled. "Ok! Do you want a ride?" Mom asked.

I desperately needed one, but I decided not to. "No, I'm good thanks." I declined. Mom rubbed her stomach.

"We're gonna decide names soon. Be back for dinner." She said.

I walked out the door, and got in the elevator. In there, I tapped my foot impatiently.

"ADHD?" A girl next to me asked. She had curly red hair, and green eyes. Her jeans had doodles all over them.

"Uh, yeah." I said. The elevator got to my floor, and I burst out the door. Waiting, Jason.

"C'mon dude! We're gonna be late!" He said, and tapped his watch.

We got in a cab, and headed toward the beach. Annabeth was already there.

She lay on a towel, underneath an umbrella. I decided to leave her alone, and jumped in the water. Piper challenged us to a swim competition.

"First one to that rock, wins! First prize is dessert, and I'll pay!" She shouted.

I chose to play.

Leo, Jason, Piper, Frank, a girl named Reyna and Calypso also played.

Hazel would be the ref. "On your marks... get set! Go!"

I swam with all my might. When I reached the rock, no one else was there. I must've gotten last, I thought. I looked over, and everyone was still swimming.

Piper came in second, Leo third. Frank swam like a dolphin. Reyna got fourth, and Frank fifth. Finally, Jason and Calypso came in.

"I've never really liked water." Jason muttered. Piper laughed, and pecked him on the cheek.

He stood in disbelief, and they walked back to dry off.

My mom always told me that my father was second best in his family. I decided that I would be like that too, no matter what.

And just now, I got first.

Annabeth came up to me, and congratulated me.

I just nodded. That's when a voice came out.

"Annabeth! Come over here!"
