Chapter Four

Fitz and Olivia kept staring at each other. Olivia was shocked to see him in front of her. Neither of them said anything. So much for trying to get him out of my head, Olivia thought.

"Miss Liv, you have a pwetty dog." Mira snapped both of them back into reality. Mira was already on her knees playing with Josie. Josie was always excited to have some attention on her and Mira was playing right into her hands.

"Thank you Mira. Her name is Josie and it's clear that you have become her favorite person right now. She loves attention." Olivia smiled at Mira who clearly is loving Josie.

"Mira saw you running and decided to go after you. I'm sorry that we interrupted you on your Saturday morning."

Olivia got a good look at Fitz for the first time. He was wearing a blue sweater that brought out the color of his eyes and a simple pair of jeans. His hair was pushed back, all but one curl that was front and center and had a mind of its own.

"No, it's okay. I was almost done with my run anyways. It seems like I have now interrupted your Saturday since Mira is busy playing with Josie."

Fitz laughed and put his eyes on Mira who was clearly preoccupied with Josie.

"We were just at the park right over there. We live about walking distance from here and Mira and I thought it would be a good way to start off our Saturday."

"You live close? Wow, small world! I live close by too. Funny how we never ran into each other here."

Before either one of them could say anything else, Mira interrupts them and says, "Daddy can Miss Liv come play with us?"

"Lovebug, why don't you ask Miss Liv? She probably has something else to do."

"Miss Liv can you please stay and play with us?" Mira gave her the biggest puppy eyes she could manage, and Olivia just couldn't say no at this point. She was drawn to this duo for some reason and she couldn't find a reason not to stay.

"Yes, I can stay for a bit. Josie still needs to get some energy out and I'm sure she would love a buddy to play with."

Oliva, Fitz, and Mira make their way to the playground. Mira was ahead of them running to the swings where she was previously before she had spotted Olivia. They were enjoying the comfortable silence between the two of them, but they would make small glances to each other. Olivia couldn't help but think about how natural this felt between the two of them. She didn't even really know Fitz on a deep personal level, but she felt a connection between them that she couldn't shake off.

"I really am sorry if we ruined your morning plans Ms. Pope." Fitz's voice snapped Olivia back into the moment.

"First of all, it's Olivia and second of all, it's no big deal! I didn't really have any plans after this. I was just going to go home and spend some time lesson planning but that all can hold off for a bit." Olivia smiled at Fitz as they reached where Mira was waiting for both of them.

"Daddy you push me!" Mira reached her arms out to Fitz so he could help her get on the swing.

Olivia looked at the dynamic they had, and it warmed her heart. They were clearly close, and Fitz looked at Mira like she was his world and vice versa. It was the kind of relationship she hopes that she will be able to have when she has her own kids.

"Miss Liv, look how high I go!" Mira started giggling the higher Fitz pushed her.

Josie was starting to get excited at watching Mira go high on the swings causing her to bark which made Mira laugh even more. Fitz looked at Olivia who was laughing along with Mira. He couldn't help but notice how natural this all felt and how beautiful Olivia looked today. He wanted more moments like this, but he didn't want to get ahead of himself. He barely knew Olivia, but he did know that she was something special and he found himself wanted to know more about her.

"Daddy down please!" Mira snapped him out of his thoughts and slowed her down before stopping.

Fitz set her down and Mira went straight to Josie. She had always wanted a puppy, so she was excited to play with Josie.

"How about I let Josie off her leash and you guys can run around on the grass?" Olivia let Josie off her leash. She knew that Josie was well trained, and she wouldn't just run off anywhere. Josie and Mira ran off together causing Olivia to smile at how well the duo got along.

"They will wear each other out by the time this is over," Fitz said.

"Guess that's a good thing. I'm sure you won't have any problems with Mira later for nap time." Olivia looked up at Fitz.

Fitz laughed, "No she definitely won't. I'm actually glad we ran into each other today."

"Really? Why do you say that?" Olivia was puzzled; as much as she wanted to see him she didn't think he would.

"Well I just wanted to thank you. I was honestly worried about Mira going into school. She can be really shy, but it seems like she is quite taken with you."

Both of them are looking at Mira who hasn't stopped giggling which puts a smile on Olivia's face. Something about both of them had drawn Olivia in a way she wasn't expecting. She needed to get in control of these emotions before they really took over. Mira come running into Fitz's legs with Josie right behind her.

"Daddy, is it bru'ch time? I hungry."

Fitz only gave Mira a small snack before they left their home, so he knew this moment was bound to happen.

"Okay let's go get something to eat. Would you like to join us Olivia?" Fitz gave her a hopeful look. He wanted to spend more time with her, and he hoped that she would say yes.

"Oh, I don't want to intrude more than I already have – "but before Olivia could say anything else, Mira interrupted her.

"Please Miss Liv please!" Mira had now gone from Fitz's side to hers. She gave Olivia her best puppy eyes again. Olivia couldn't resist saying no after the look on Mira's face.

"Okay but it has to be a place where Miss Josie is able to come too since I won't have time to drop her off."

"Of course! There is a little café where dogs are allowed, and we could even sit outside on their patio to continue to enjoy this beautiful day."

The trio along with Miss Josie walked down a couple of blocks near the park into a small café.

"Good morning and welcome to Rosie's Café. Table for three?" The hostess greeted them.

"Yes, please and may we get a table outside on the patio?" Fitz asks.

"No problem," the hostess smiles and leads them to a table outside.

"Here you go, and I hope you enjoy. You guys have a cute little family."

Before either of them could say otherwise the hostess went back to their place. Oliva and Fitz smiled at each other. Before Olivia could sit down, Fitz pulled out her chair and then Mira's. Olivia tied Josie to her chair to make sure she didn't go anywhere.

"Daddy, I want p'cakes with juice!" Mira exclaimed.

"Pancakes Mira" Fitz corrected her.

Mira looked at him puzzled before saying, "Pa-cakes" and gave him a cheeky smile.

Olivia couldn't help but laugh. Mira was only four, but she had a great vocabulary even if she couldn't pronounce everything correctly. She figured that out on the second day of school when she worked on vocabulary with the class.

The waitress came by and took their orders. Olivia made sure to get Josie some water considering she just spent a good while playing with Mira. While waiting for their food, Mira was coloring on the kid's menu leaving the adults to talk amongst themselves.

"So, Olivia, what made you get into teaching? I'm sure you get asked that question a lot so if you don't want to answer you don't have to." Fitz rambled a bit and blushed when Olivia gave him a smirk.

"I don't mind answering that question. It's cliché but I have always loved kids and my passion of teaching just grew from there. My first year of college I did an internship at a local preschool and I fell in love with it. After that I just continued to intern and worked on my degree. Now I've been teaching for four years and I can't imagine doing anything else."

Fitz was enamored by Olivia and her explanation. He could tell she was extremely passionate in her work with the way her face light up. Olivia noticed him just looking at her and suddenly felt really shy. It was like he was staring into her soul and she didn't know how to handle it.

Olivia wanting to move the conversation away from her says, "Enough about me, what about you? What do you do?"

"I'm an attorney. I mostly do corporate cases with my best friend Stephen. We usually get paired up together at the law firm. We've been friends since law school and has been a great help with Mira."

Before Olivia could ask anything else, the waitress brought out their food. Pancakes for Mira and Olivia and an omelet for Fitz.

"Mira do you want me to cut your pancakes?" Olivia asks before Fitz could get the chance.

"Yes, please Miss Liv."

Olivia took the knife and cut the pancake into small pieces for Mira. Fitz looked at her in awe that she would even take the initiative to do this. The three of them continued to eat. Mira would chime in saying something silly that would make them laugh. Olivia and Fitz would talk here and there but even when they didn't, it wasn't awkward; it was a nice and comfortable silence. Before either of them knew it the waitress came by with the bill. Fitz takes out his wallet at the same time Olivia is looking for hers. Fitz sets a couple of dollar bills down before Olivia had the chance.

"Fitz you don't have to pay for me. I can pay for my own breakfast."

"Olivia I invited you out, well technically Mira did, so don't worry about it. Maybe next time you can pay." Fitz winked at her.

Olivia's stomach made several flips when Fitz winked at her. He just made it clear that he wanted to see her again in this kind of capacity and she didn't know what to do.

"I'll take you up on that offer," she said before she could stop herself.

Olivia untied Josie's leash and the trio left the café. They walked back in the direction of the park considering that's where both of their homes were located. Mira was in between the two of them holding their hands. If anyone would look at them, they would think that they were a family. It really caught both Olivia and Fitz off guard at how natural this all felt. When they arrived at the park, they that their time together was up.

"I guess this is it," Fitz said.

"Yeah I guess it is. Thank you so much for breakfast and next time I am paying. I won't take no for an answer."

"Deal. Say bye to Miss Liv and Josie, Mira."

Olivia bent down to Mira's level and they gave each other a big hug.

"I'll see you Monday, Mira. You have a nice weekend."

"Bye Miss Liv. See you Mo'day." Mira gave Olivia a kiss on the cheek causing Olivia to smile and give her a kiss back.

"Goodbye Fitz."

"Goodbye Olivia."
