Chapter Five

Olivia entered her home and took a breath. She couldn't believe that just happened. Why was she effected so much by this man and his little girl?! She needed to shake it off and put it on the backburner for now. She had other things she needed to focus on.

She heard noise coming from the kitchen and she figured that Abby was spending her morning baking. She made her way to see her friend. She just needed something to distract her and talking to her friend would do just that.

"Morning Abby!"

"Hey Liv! Where were you this morning? You took a longer run than you usually do. I was about to call a search party or something."

Olivia laughed, "No need to send a search party. I just ran into a student of mine with and her father."

Abby looked up at Olivia, "Are you talking about your student Mira and her hot single father?"

Abby was intrigued. Olivia didn't just spend her morning with anyone and since Olivia spilled her guts earlier, she had to know what went down this morning. She didn't want to see her friend hurt by some guy again.

"So, I went out for my usual run with Josie around the park and that's when Mia ran up to me. She was there was her dad, Fitz, at the playground. Turns out the live near the park as well. I spent some time with them, and I got invited out for breakfast."

So much for putting this on the backburner, Olivia thought. She knew Abby wasn't going to let this go so she had to tell her what happened this morning. Maybe this was a sign that she needed to talk about it.

"Okay so what happened next? Clearly you went to breakfast with them since you just got home."

"We went to a café and ate out on the patio. We learned more about each other and it all just felt so natural. There wasn't a moment where it felt awkward and just a "teacher" to him. I felt like I could tell him anything. There was a connection that I've never felt before."

Abby again was stunned at her friend's admission. It was clear that Olivia was feeling something intense for this guy, but she still needed Olivia to be cautious.

"Wait he didn't kiss you did he?! What about Mira; his daughter?"

"NO! There was no kiss. Mira was fine. She was the sweetest and again it just felt so natural not only with him but with her too. She gave me a kiss on the cheek when we separated. She is wiggling her way into my heart and there's nothing I can do to stop it. Ugh Abby! I don't know what to do!"

Olivia grabbed one of the cookies Abby had taken out and took a bite out of it. She needed a take a breather and gather her thoughts and emotions.

"Okay well you need a night out after this morning! We are going out to the club tonight and I'm not taking no for an answer. You need to get your mind off of the cute little duo who have clearly captured your heart."

"You're right! Let's go to Lux tonight! We both need to unwind, and I need to get my mind off of things."

"Let's have fun tonight; and Liv, it's okay to feel these things for this guy. It's okay to admit that you are ready to move on and live your life. Edison doesn't deserve any more of your time. Maybe it's time to open up your heart again but still be cautious about things."

Olivia looked at Abby. Her best friend knew her so well and she knew she can only hide her feelings for so long. She knew Abby was right and it was time to just move on. Edison has done enough hurt and she wasn't going to give him any more time.

Fitz and Mira arrived back at their home and found his mom cleaning around the house. She was spending the weekend with before she went back to his sister.

"Mom, you know you don't have to clean. You need to relax before Charlotte has her baby and you'll really be busy."

"Oh, you hush! I don't mind cleaning around here, you know that!"

"Grammy! We saw Miss Liv at the park, and she had a doggy! What's her name 'gain, daddy?"

"Her name was Josie," Fitz said as he looked at his mom who had a questioning look. He knew that she was going to ask him for more details.

"Yeah Josie and then we went to breakfast and it was so yummy!" Mira gave her a toothy grin after she finished.

"Well it sure seems like you guys had fun this morning. Mira, why don't I go run you a bath?" Katherine took Mira's hand and walked out of the room but not before looking at Fitz with a look saying she will be back later.

Fitz sighed and sat on the couch. He ran his fingers through his hair as he thought back to this morning. Everything felt so natural between them and there wasn't any awkwardness. They were so comfortable and at one point it really felt like a family, but he couldn't go that far. He barely knew her but yet was drawn to her in a way he couldn't explain.

He heard the laughs and giggles coming from upstairs causing him to smile. Whatever his feelings with Olivia were, he knew Mira would always come first. He was shaken out of his thoughts when his phone rang.

"Hey Stephen, what's up?"

"Hey man! What do you have planned for tonight?"

"Just saying home with my mom and Mira. Why? What are your plans?"

"Well I'm heading out to Lux tonight and I'm taking you with me! Your mom can watch Mira and we can go have some fun."

"I don't know man…"

"Nope! I'm not taking no for an answer! You haven't gone out in months and just because you're a dad doesn't mean you're dead."

Fitz knew he wasn't going to be able to get out of this tonight. He knew his mom wouldn't mind taking care of Mira tonight. In fact, he knew she would be the one pushing him out the door.

"Fine, let's go out. Text me the details and I'll see you later."

"Great! See you later man."

Stephen is right, he does need to get out of the house and have a night to himself. Ever since Mira was born, he has tried his best to make her the priority and going out wasn't something he did often. Maybe this would be good for him; maybe he just needed a night out to get his mind off of the one woman who has been on his mind since he met her.

"Fitz, Fitz, earth to Fitz."

His mom was standing right in front of him with her hands on her hips giving him that look.

"Sorry mom. I was just thinking about things."

"Were these things about a certain pre-school teacher who has seem to not only have captured your heart but Mira's as well?"

"Yeah a bit. Speaking of Mira, where is she?"

His mom sat down on next to him on the couch.

"Mira is currently in her room playing with her dolls, but I need you to tell me more about what's going on in your head."

"I just don't know what to do. Today just felt so natural with her and I am drawn to her, but I shouldn't be."

"Why shouldn't you? It's been years since you has been in a relationship. Mellie wasn't the right woman for you, and she proved it the minute she walked out the door and never came back. It's time for you to move on and open your heart again."

Fitz took a deep breath and soaked up his mom's words. She was right, he still held onto the damage Mellie did him after all these years. He had to let go and move on. Maybe Olivia was the right woman or maybe not, but it wouldn't hurt to go through that door.

"Liv, you ready to go?!"

"Yeah! Almost!" Olivia looked at herself in the mirror and took a deep breath. She was wearing a form fitting red dress. Her hair was pulled up in a high ponytail and she decided to wear a matching red lip.

She grabbed her phone from her nightstand and walked down the stairs into the living room where Abby was waiting for her.

"Damn girl! You are looking hot!"

"Abby! Look who's talking!"

Abby was wearing a green bodycon dress that fit her like a glove. She matched it with a pair of black heels. Abby grabbed her own phone and the duo headed out the door ready for their night out. Neither of them knew that this was about to change things for them both.

In the same neighborhood, Fitz was getting himself ready for his own night out. Stephen was on his way to pick him up. He was wearing a blue button down and some black jeans. He figured this was good enough for tonight. He walked down the stairs where his mom was watching some tv.

"Okay mom, Mira is in bed and I shouldn't be out too late. You know if you need me to come back at any time I will."

"Fitz can you relax. I took very well of you and your sister as a single mother and I know how to take care of my grandchild. Go and have fun tonight."

She got up and gave him a kiss on the cheek before she started to slowly push him towards the door. Fitz got the hint and gave her a hug before walking out to find Stephen waiting in his car.

Abby and Olivia were hand in hand making their way to the crowded bar. It was a very busy Saturday night at Lux causing Olivia and Abby to make sure they didn't lose each other in the crowd.

They finally made it to the bar and were able to get themselves a drink. Olivia was looking around getting a vibe on her surrounding and that's when she spotted him. What the fuck, she thought. Was she dreaming?! He couldn't be here.

Before she could turn away, they locked eyes and it was like everyone else disappeared. He was wearing a blue button down that made his eyes pop out even more. He got closer and closer to her until he was right in front of her.

"Hi."

She smiled, "Hi."
