Chapter 2 - An act of Bravery or Stupidity
Author's Note: Sorry for the long delay! I took note of a criticism I received in my first post and I will admit, I did not think this one more thoroughly, but I'm going to try my best to attempt to make this story work!
Ever since arriving in the new world, the Guardian already gets into some trouble on the first action he comes across while having very little yet supposedly "necessary" information from his Ghost's rather short assessment about what the world is and about. The Guardian still has no idea what he was getting himself into under these circumstances. Normally, most of the veteran Hunters would prefer to stay out of sight from the locals on an unknown planet and observe from a distance and better understand their nature and their norms. But he was a newer Hunter, who surprisingly doesn't say much and being a "New Light" Guardian he did the complete opposite of where most grizzled Hunter Guardians would do if they were in this scenario.
"Guardian, I sincerely hope that you have a plan for suddenly rushing ahead into the first battle you see!" The Ghost says as he helplessly watches his Guardian run towards the tall bulky creature.
"Remember, We are in another world. We are not fighting something that we're used to and I do not have any data on how to fight that… Thing. So no pressure, and I'm sure you got this... I think. " The Ghost reminded the Hunter as the Guardian makes his way up to the bridge to meet the raging creature and that when it notices the brightly colored Guardian as he meets the ''Villain".
Upon the Guardian's arrival at the scene, the tall villain looked down at the armored and cloaked "Hero".
This angered the tall brute and shouted at the Guardian, "GO AWAY!"
Just after the Brute finished his sentence, the Hunter threw a flux grenade at the Villain and it was aimed directly to his face, but the Villain reacted quickly than expected and blocked it then the flux grenade instead impacted on the Villain's palm, however still yielded the same results as the direct impact of the Flux Grenade to the Villain's palm caused a small Shockwave and electrocuted the Brute.
"ARGH! YOU PUNK!" The Brute shouted and glared at the Guardian with a look that was intended to kill.
This surprised the Hunter as Guardian abilities are supposed to be powerful but the Brute Villain looks a bit enthused by his attack.
"Guardian, I already know what you're thinking. I'm sure that even a Cabal Centurion can be able to withstand a Flux Gren- EYES UP!" The Ghost called out quickly notifying the Hunter as the Brute smashed the concrete rails and the impact of that attack launched some concrete debris towards him. Then the Guardian's hunter reflexes took over and backflipped out of the way of the incoming debris narrowly avoiding some of the smaller debris.
The tall brute villain was visibly angry and when he was just about to sprint towards the Guardian, Someone suddenly showed up and got in between the Guardian and the Villain.
"Stand down, You big lump of evil." The new arrival who has a wood as their overall theme says to the villain. The way they spoke was really old fashion in a sense.
"You're charged with unlawful use of a power during commuting hours, As well as battery and robbery." the wooden "hero" says to the villain and over in the distance, the Guardian could overhear someone within the crowd suddenly yelling.
"IT'S KAMUI OF THE WOODS!" A Student with a curly hair says and the Hunter overheard them all the way over where he was standing strangely enough. But turning his attention back to the situation. However the Kamui Hero seems to be ready to start their attack as the Villain was walking towards them.
"Here's your punishment... " Kamui muttered something and the Guardian saw Kamui's wooden arms start deforming, then the hero shouted.
"LACQUER PRISON!" He extended his arms out and branches began to stretch out for the villain with the intention to immobilize the brute.
That was until out of nowhere just as when the Guardian would've think this isn't getting anymore weirder for him a giant woman wearing a skimpy outfit dropped kicked the brute in the face stealing the hero, Kamui's spotlight while shouting "Canyon Cannon" as she kicked the tall brute to the head, Instantly incapacitating him and capturing him in the process.
The situation was resolved and the people's attention shifted to this giant lady only to surprise the Hunter again as she shrank to what seems to be her normal size as the hero earlier, Kamui seems to have kneeled down in despair as someone was quick to steal the show…
"Guardian… I just discovered something." The Ghost comes through as the entire event is unfolding.
"I managed to acquire more information about this world's- ER, Much rather this country's law." The Hunter then was curious what his Ghost found out if he is just now telling him this.
"Turn out… there is a Constitution about the usages quirks and it would make our abilities as a Guardian be considered as a quirk and since we are not a resident in this world… nor have any form of Identity in this world. We're technically an illegal immigrant." The Ghost says and this immediately sprung up some red flags in the Hunter's mind and turned around to the opposite direction and was about to leave when Kamui was behind him and seemed to have quickly moved on after his thunder was stolen from him.
"You… I've never seen you before." He says and puts two of his hands on his waist and seems to be suspecting
"-Luckily, this world's technology is pretty primitive enough for me to create ourselves an identity." The Ghost kept talking in the Guardian's head as he was being examined by Kamui.
"... You must be a new hero and that costume seems to be well made for it to be made out of a cheap paper mache. Although, I'm curious. What's your hero name?" Kamui says and doesn't seem to realize that the Guardian is not affiliated with this world hero organization at first until he asked him about his "Hero Name" the Hunter quickly assumed that it must be an alias used as a "hero".
The hunter quickly thinks up a random name based on the places and names in his world he visited and known
"It's Exodus." The Hunter spoke and that was his best response to Kamui's question and he can tell that this hero is skeptical about him, but he tries to stay composed despite many things going through his mind on what will happen if this person ever finds out that he's lying.
Then what felt like hours in an awkward silence, Kamui sighs and crosses his arms
"You must be that new… I can't really recall your name at all." He says and it seems that the Hunter's lie had managed to elude suspicion, but he has to live with the fact that he nicknamed himself after Failsafe's ship.
"Even though your fighting style is still pretty sluggish you managed to not get hurt somehow.. You must be working hard to make your debut, until Mount Lady showed up." The Wooden hero says, but in the Hunter's mind, Kamui did kind of butt in too but he kept silent and let Kamui talk until he could finally leave.
"Don't lose heart though. You'll get your chance someday." the Hunter could feel a faint bond forming between him and this wooden fellow… Though it was good that the Hero managed to believe his lie.
It was after the Villain was finally taken away by the authorities is when Kamui left… Though he did try to invite the Guardian to go hang out somewhere, but the Hunter declined using this quick opportunity to leave the scene and avoid further suspicions and actually staying out of the public's sight inside the city and returning to his little cave in the middle of the forest to review what had just happen and properly collect the information.
Afterwards, the Guardian stayed in the forest for another few months with his Ghost before getting a long lecture on what should a more efficient Hunter would do and not to do and about the world they were in. That time it took a long while for them to compile and understand all the actual, necessary information that needs to be understood. After their first confrontation with a villain, however, was when the Ghost was able to create an identity for the Hunter in order to blend in well to the nation's society casually. From there a goal was needed to be formulated in order to actually know what they should do in the mean time while they are possibly permanently stuck in the foreign world...
Author's Note: Thank you for reading my fanfic! I wouldn't mind receiving your thoughts on what I should improve on if I made any mistakes in writing my story. If you are dissatisfied, I'm sorry and I tried, but if you can and have the time, please leave a criticism on what I need to work on!
